LOL! can we have a sneaky peak preview??
-
those porsche rims really suit the car!! must admit i did have second thoughts when you where gonna change to them but they look ace! Havent washed my car for 2 weeks now.... its looking a bit dusty at the moment need to pull my finger out tommorow morning and give the rado a clean! 8)
-
The original advert stated they where 9" wide on E38, it wasnt untill i rang the bloke up that he said they where 9.5... So i think i may pass... got some porsche silver roses in my garage anyway... which i am trying to figure out what to do with... 8)
-
just realised this maybe in the wrong section...
-
What are the chances of me fitting a 9.5" wide rear 16"bbs RS rim on the back of my rado?? They are ET59 , with adapters ET29. 9" only just squeeze on the back of rados dont they?? Only thinking as there is a pair for sale on edition38 that are going cheap....

Octane booster... :?: maybe a good idea in this heat?? http://www.performancesubaru.co.uk/products_info.asp?id=204&cat=46

I know what you mean, i cant stop looking at the bahn brenner homepage.... it is very tempting, something for the future me thinks, not sure how i would get away with spending £1500+ on a new charger, especially as the GF is growing ever so more aware of how much i spend on my car... 8)

Pennyless you maybe, but no more rebuilds... :)
-
I think you should post up some vids... :D
-
how does it compare in terms of noise?
-
didnt realise you had a lysholm mate! that must go some now hey... :D

I am not happy just got outbid by someone that aint even going to put them onto a car!! looks like the bloke that outbid me has an ebay shop and will sell them on again!! Oh Well Nevermind! :x I had originally contacted the seller about the brakes and arranged to end the auction early @ £550 , didnt hear from him for 2 days so didnt get these beasts in the end! :( http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=011&item=320006243793&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

I managed 242bhp with my spec, and thats with standard bottom end... ok with a 65mm pulley but... :)
-
Well its the only thing left i ve got to do really, and then i am finished with the car, so i can have a bit of fun and do a few trackdays... the brakes would melt in less than one lap with my current setup...
-
so would you say £550 is an ok price to pay??
-
the adapter fits inside the disc to push it out and away from the ball joint AFAIK.
-
I am looking to buy all this for £550 what do you think?? worth it? vr6 fitment spacers etc, but other than that everything else is there i need... 2 X BREMBO CARRERA 2 CALIPERS 2 X 12" GENUINE PORSCHE BRAKE DISCS (USED ONLY FOR A FEW HUNRED MILES) 1 X SET OF LIGHTLY USED BRAKE PADS (USED ONLY FOR A FEW HUNRED MILES) 2 X CALIPER ADAPTERS (these allow the porsche calipers to be fitted to the vw hub) 4 X PORSCHE CALIPER BOLTS (you musn't use non Porsche items!) 2 X WHEEL ADAPTERS ( these were designed to fit inside the brake disc so are unseen from the outside!! - go from 5 x 100 vw fitment to 5 x 130 Porsche bolt spacing) 2 X WHEEL SPACERS (you may or may not need to use these depending on how the caliper lined up with the disc once fitted on your application)
-
the wheels i would be using are the D90s which have an offset of ET52 so there is plenty to play with offset wise, its just it may be a tight fit when it comes to the diameter of the disc with the caliper...
-
i have seen adapters similar to the H&R type adapters that allow an adapter to fit between the hub and the disc allowing fitment of the porsche disc, infact i think i have even seen a pic somewhere that shows this. I can probably get a set made up, as i am a bit of a dab hand on a CNC turning machine so i can prob make up some custom adapters... either that or i may be lucky and my adapters i have at the moment may work perfectly fine??
-
305mm discs with porsche 911 carrera 2 calipers?? what chance have i got of getting these to fit behind my D90s?? I know adapters will need to be made etc, but i am more concerned with the size of the discs & calipers.

My toothed belt had a very similar problem to yours mate, due to the tension being to tight maybe?? darren fitted one of his solid tensioners! they work a treat!! just the right amount of tension can be applied without it being too tight. I went through 3 belts with the dampered tensioner.... so didnt have much trust in that setup With the solid tensioner the belt still looks like new and thats almost 2 months since it was fitted. Defo reccomend anyone with a toothed belt to get one fitted, quite cheap aswell, specially when you consider a new belt is £15 a time.. 8)

Shaggy replied to 24V Renshaw's topic in General Car Chat
Thanks to you jay, you have given many of us fellow dubbers inspiration for our projects with this very car, and shows its achievable when you put blood sweat & tears into making a "dream" car like yours. Thankyou for making such a nice car, its been an inspiration to me and i am sure many other people. :thumbleft: Cant wait to see what your next project will end up like... Cant imagine what it feels like to see someone else drive off in the car youve spent so many years creating!! :(
