-
Thats the one...
-
i think thats a giro valve maybe?? Not Standard anyway, dont think they do much, so wont harm if you leave it out.
-
Thanks for you help / comments guys! much appreciated :D Yeah i think i may have a chat with darren next time i am at his place, and get him to price a setup for me, i do like the idea of porsche brakes tho!!! 8)

Just changed it! It did make a slight difference but the pinking is still there!!! For the time being, until darren can fit me in... i ve had to adjust the water / methanol injection so that it kicks in at 10 - 11 psi as this seems to cure most of the pinking down the bottom of the power range there is still a slight pinking towards top end tho, which isnt ideal... Also tried the 90% throttle to redline and there is no pinking at all, only at full WOT

Mate i think you may have solved my problem!! you legend! the amount of times the car has been run low on petrol and the car is on its original fuel filter @ 90000miles!! My original problem felt like it was limited of fuel , almost a retardation of some sort, cant believe i completey forgot to check fuel filter..... On that note i am gunna change the filter ASAP! as i am now thinking this maybe the source of my problems!!!! Will let you know how i get on! cheers!

i suppose i could either go down the ibiza cupra route or the practically the same setup but with porsche calipers?? What porsche calipers did you use on your john??
-
The engine starts and runs ok! Its the custom engine map that seems to be the problem according to G-werks, there is too much advance set in the map hence why it pinks, i am just trying to come across a solution that will sort it out for the time being as i cant be without my car, and i certainly dont want f**k the engine up cus its pinking all the time! :)
-
Been thinking..... Considering the map has been set a little too advanced... for the time being will retarding the cam slightly (Vernier pulley) decrease the pinking at all?? i know it will to an extent... think its something like 15 degrees on the kent pulleys... Its just that its getting hotter at the moment and i really dont want to do excess damage to the car even tho the knock sensor should cut in. I also tried the tesco fuel, compared to optimax its like rocket fuel, the car runs a feels quite a bit better on the tesco stuff if anyone hasnt given it a go yet.

Your car looks soooo sweet!!!! may have to look into getting 35mm adapters on the back of mine, now that ive seen yours!! the phatness!

IMO chargecoolers do work better than an intercooler at lower speeds (less airflow at lower speeds) etc but at higher speeds (higher air flow) the intercooler wins pretty much all the time. the only other compromise would be one of those cosworth type coolers which is an intercooler and a chargecooler in one... some people fit these , was going to have a go myself but decided to just go for the Golf G60 FMIC which works / flows very nicely.

hmm what about these calipers??? From an Audi RS2 / Porsche 993?? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/brembo-porsche-red-brake-calipers-pair_W0QQitemZ4645044801QQcategoryZ10408QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Caliper Carrier Adapters :- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MBT-Universal-Carrier-for-Porsche-and-Brembo-Calipers_W0QQitemZ4645694109QQcategoryZ10408QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

305mm discs is a good size, will have to find out as to what the limit is on size of disc that will fill up that gap inside the 16" rim... the good thing about this setup is i dont have to blow a shed load of cash at once i can collect the parts as i go... excellent!! Gunna have to keep a look out for some calipers then... :)

there HUGE!!! maybe too big for my D90s...

Just been on the badger5 site, they do the said ibiza brembo kit for just under a grand!!! It may be a long shot but i may look into getting a set of porsche brakes "engineered" into the car somehow... :) its something i can research, the only thing i reckon i would need to sort out would be the discs and the carriers in terms of fitting them onto the car.. i think i ve seen porsche brakes (brembo) on a corrado before just cant remember where i ve seen it??
-
Following darrens melting session with my standard g60 brakes i am now looking into fitting a set of monster brakes onto the rado :) I doubt i will have the money to spend £2000+ on a set as i couldnt justify that at the moment, but is there an alternative?? I ve done a search but couldnt really find much on uprating the rado g60 brakes?? I know you can get the Brembo GT kit but thats as far as i got... I have plenty of clearance so i guess i would be looking at 320mm discs maybe?? i want big brakes, i am talking dinner plate size... :) Any links, or info on uprating would be very helpful as i am at the "gathering information before speding money" stage at the moment and probably wont do anything untill next year now, unless i see a bargain. cheers

1. How much is a complete g60 engine worth with everything needed for conversion, except the charger as its mullured? I would say with everything except the charger you would be looking at around £500 - £700 depending on mileage etc. 2. Can i use my 16v gearbox, clutch and lightened flywheel? I assume your box is cable change?? if so it should be compatible although dont take my word for it, not sure about clutch & flywheel tho. 3. What do i do about fuel lines and can i use the 16v pump? I think your gunna need a digifant fuel pump aswell, think these run at a lower pressure that the 16v or visa versa... :) 4. What am i expected to pay for a charger secondhand? As for chargers, dont mess around for a budget one get a decent secondhand / rebuilt unit from Darren @ G-werks. 5. How do i go about bypassing charger so engine still runs without it? AFAIK all you need to do is make up some pipework to connect upto intercooler pipe from the airbox and then cap off the oil feeds for the charger, pretty sure there is a guide somewhere matey?? Hope this may help you slightly... 8)

hmmmm, not sure about that one?? although he did stress that if its new paitnwork its quite a bit harder to get the dents out. other than that i dont think its much of a problem although they do use tools that push the dent out from the inside so this may damage dynamat. I am sure if you gave him a ring he could answer most questions.
-
Well if its taken you this long to plan it then god!! its gunna be amazing! LOL :-P Cant wait to see how it will end up! I must admit i do have a soft spot for the rallye, especially on Splitties!
-
Yeah about time that rallye got a look in....LOL :D What are your intentions with the car then daz??
-
He usually charges £65 a panel, but charged me £75 for 2 panels as i only had a few dents that needed sorting which i thought was really good considering the result. I was quite amazed on the job he did, only took him 30mins to take out 5 or so dents! very chuffed! :)
-
Just had my dings taken out of the drivers door and quarter panel by a guy called Norman Payne, He runs a PDR company called Dings & Dents, he is the nuts! Anyone wanting dents etc taking out , and your in the waterloovile / hampshire area he is your man. Did a very good job, even with my eye i couldnt notice any dents. :) his Contact details are... Norman Payne Mob no. 07831385738

i thinks its used you pretty much all the time exept for when your at full throttle??

its sad but true!! the police dont give a shit about this sort of thing, even with blantent evidence like a cctv tape! they have other things to worry about like trying to recapture all the asylums that should be in jail..... This sort of thing really winds me up, personally i am seriously thinking about emigrating within 10 years, this country is doomed.... i mean we dont even have an econamy anymore, let alone nhs.. i could go on and on but... Just make sure you keep an eye out for these scumbags to come back over the next few days, they probably wont come back but either way contact the police and let them know you want a patrol car outside you house for atleast a week! :)

Looks like my pinking problem has been found! After a short discussion with darren @ G-werks , it seems the car was mapped on Tesco 99 Ron fuel!! Now considering that i run my car on 97ron optimax, it means the car is pinking because of the ron rating.. Now this makes me think??? is the tesco stuff better..... The car does feel a little slower with optimax, and after reading the tesco site thier fuel does seem to be quite good and after a few searchs alot of people running it say its better than optimax and even BP ultimate. For the time being i think i am gunna whack in some tesco 99 ron and see what happens, atleast it shouldnt pink, giving me enough time untill darren has time to map the car on optimax.
