  1. Liking the pics Paul, it looks a good car ;)
  2. That's not correct on the pistons as they're round, not square. The swept volumes are 196 and 392cm3 respectively. The rest of the debate I'm clueless on but reading with interest! lol ;)
  3. VW MK2 Golf GTI 16-Valve - ?3750.00 Here we have the trade sale a 1992 MK2 Golf GTI 16 valve, in the desirable colour of Oak Green. This MK2 has benefited from a full re-spray, engine rebuild and running gear overhaul over the years. This makes the car a real pleasure to drive and belies the current mileage of 152,500. The car comes with a lot of history, although not completely full and whilst not concours, is in very good, solid condition and would make either a good daily driver, or weekend car. MOT expires 5th November 2015 and the car has none of the usual MK2 issues, such as saggy headlining, worn seat bolsters, rusty wings, filler neck or scuttle panel. Much more information and over 30 photos can be found here - http://www.yesterdayscars.co.uk/available-cars/mk2-vw-golf-gti-16v/ No Paypal, Cash on collection or bank transfer prior to only! 4. Welcome to the forum Paul! There's a lot of content on her so it's worth doing a search for your topics as I guess a lot of answers will be here. The Wiki is very useful too - http://the-corrado.net/forumdisplay.php?f=42 I'm relatively new to Corrados so not the best to answer your questions but there's plenty of people here who can and will ;) Looking forward to the photos :thumbleft: Cheers Andy
  5. I can understand that. I had an S2, then square dash, then turbo 944 and loved them all - handling is superb and it's a well engineered car - but it lacked the noise of more than four cylinders! lol (So is my Corrado but I plan to do something about that soon!) :thumbleft:
  6. Yeah agree with you Chris, just don't know any other places around there lol.
  7. Welcome back Steve. That's a really nice S2. My Corrado reminds me of my 944s a bit, must be the driving position? - miss my turbo :) Good luck with the search and the sale
  8. The White Horse I mentioned before Sean is the only one I know close by that would accommodate. The other option could be the Barnsdale Lodge but it will be pricier - http://www.barnsdalelodge.co.uk/
  9. Yeah is was a shame, the Welsh guy was a really nice chap and had the right persona to sell, as you say just needed to do a bit more homework on the relevant info (like the previous values, not the fact you can get your kids in the back!)
  10. Hell yeah, I'd have those! (I wouldn't spend that money though lol )
  11. I hadn't realised it hit PH until earlier this afternoon. I emailed the seller very soon after it went up as wanted it for myself (my valver is great, but it's lacking two cylinders! lol) The seller was really decent and gave me a lot of info. It will need a clutch and timing chains, possibly brakes but he's not sure. The spoiler doesn't retract on one side all the time and the sunroof switch is missing. With the one owner history, if it's been serviced regular it could end up a nice car but I can't justify the time on it, so have graciously stepped back! lol Someone could have a nice car though if they're willing to put the time and money in to it. I'd rather pay the extra for one that has had that work done, but you never know if it's a genuine bargain until you ask! ;)
  12. Did you all watch it? I really enjoyed it. I guess it was more about the people than the cars, but Joe Macari's place - Wow!!
  13. I thought 96+ was a court appearance? Either way, hope it's not too painful ;)
  14. They're definitely fitted ok then, they're not on the p**s or anything and I think the gap is about 5mm. I've got a meter so I'll check the resistance on them, but would hope the new ones aren't duff!! I haven't done a scan actually since fitting them but before hand the scanner couldn't connect to the ABS system to read any fault codes (but connects to everything else ok.)
  15. I thought I'd start a new thread as so far I've piggy-backed on others. I replaced my front two ABS sensors over Christmas. Once I did this, I checked a number of times and after turning the ignition on, the ABS light went out after a few seconds - which it didn't before as it was permanently on. I then left my unit with the light off, please with myself but half way home the light came back on and has stayed on ever since. I've checked and the sensors are mounted ok and the plugs haven't come off. However, before I start replacing anything else I'm thinking there's a reason that the system seemed to work ok (albeit briefly) but now it doesn't and it's to do with the front sensors. The sensors are bolted in square/straight but were a tight fit. I can't see you could tighten them any further but anyone know how close the sensor should be to the back of the hub? I wondered if the gap is too big and that's the issue? Any wisdom would be appreciated ;) Cheers Andy
  16. ...and it's another Golf one, sorry :)
  17. I like this one, a little subtle, but nice ;)
  18. I've literally just finished fitting the new starter - and tapping the engine mount threads - new mount but P/O mullered one of them! The car has been starting fine all weekend but I'd rather still change if for peace of mind. One bonus is the correct starter was £48 cheaper than the one I picked up Saturday. Happy days! :thumbleft:
  19. Could be good, cheers for the heads-up ;)
  20. Good tip. This stuff is the 'nuts' for cleaning up old contacts with that problem, especially when you can't get access to clean the pins properly - http://www.wurth.co.uk/technical-chemicals/lubricants-and-rust-removers/production-lubricants/contact-ol-200ml
  21. That sounds like the best Christmas present ever!! lol Enjoy :thumbleft:
  22. Yeah there's a couple of really low 944's that came to the meet without issues ;)
