  1. Blimey, I wouldn't mind giving some feedback but how are you organising this? I would advise against anyone naming and shaming VW garages here, in a public place, since it's possible you'd get sued for slander. It's alright to praise them, but you could get in serious trouble for bad mouthing them. Cheers, Rica
  2. Hiya, Bad luck... Make sure you get compensated. I've heard the amount of £700 being mentioned when it comes to the slam panel, and I suppose replacing it is going to cost some man hours. I myself got a quote for £450 + VAT + labour when I wanted mine swapped due to previous owner. Had it straightened instead for £150 There's a thread about someone else wanting to sort that bar out here --> clicky There's a picture of the damage I had sorted for £150 as well HTH, Cheers, Rica

Andi, Someone else will prolly clear it for you, but this was my impression. All the vrs came with one, it works at under 25mph and it's not good at all. I can easily spin my wheels in 3rd gear and look like a muppet Cheers, Rica

  8. Hello, This is for 1989 Rallye. Sold me some headlights and parcel shelf supports. Sent by courier and packed so well, I don't think a bomb could've shattered the glass on the lights. He even put up with my nattering and all that with an affordable price tag attached. Well pleased, thank you very much Mark! Cheers, Rica

  13. Heya, I had a dent in my arch, as per picture... I don't know how much it cost me by itself, but I had my back bumper and whole of passenger side repaired for dents, parking rashes and a keyeing (!) for £300. I don't have a picture of the finished product, but I can assure you that you cannot see a dent anymore, smooth as :) Cheers, Rica P.S. And NO, I haven't put a single scratch on the car, these were on when I bought it

    Brake Lights Stuck On

Henny, OK, I thought that the bulb hand't blown since the filaments are still intact. It looked more like a manufacturing error to me. But as you said, I am glad as well that it has been sorted. Cheers, Rica

    Brake Lights Stuck On

First of all, Thank you very much for the replies. After seeing them, I went out, took both of the bulbs out and had a good look at them. The bulbs hadn't blown but one of them had the interesting connection as seen below in a pic. Off to a bin nearby, that one. That still didn't solve the mystery of why the bulbs were on with the same intensity when I took them out one at a time. So I also checked the earth, took it out and reseated it again properly. Problem solved! My brake pedal still makes this weird clicking noise and I am absolutely positive it's a new noise, which just happened to happen at the same time as my bulbs misbehaved. Oh well, won't worry about that for now Thanks for all your help, Rica

    Brake Lights Stuck On

Thanks boys, I'll have look for the things tomorrow, when it's light again Cheers, Rica
  18. People, I did a search, but no one seems to have had the same problem. When my lights are off and I press the brake, my brakelights work normally. Oh yes, the amusing thing to fellow drivers (and complete, utter embarrasment for me) is that when I drive during daytime (without lights) and I brake, my nearside sidelight comes on, also, it seems that if I listen very carefully while starting to press the brake, it makes a faint *click*ing noise. I turn the lights on (side- or driving lights, doesn't matter) and the brakelights are constantly on, it looks like I am braking all the time! When I press the brake pedal, the brake lights become ever so slightly brighter. I tried today taking one bulb out at a time and that didn't help. As soon as I turned sidelights on, the remaining brakelight came on with the same intensity. Pressing brake made it slightly brighter. The bulbs are in the right way (only a muppet could force them the other way). Only rumours I've heard is that if someone puts a single filament bulb in a twin filament holder, it can cause all kinds of weird things to happen. Surely, the standards have prevented this with offset pins vs. opposite pins? Or something else. How do I check what kind of filament the bulb is anyways? Do I actually check for two filaments inside the bulb? Is that the easiest way? Brake pedal switch? If so, what can I do about it? I noticed that GSF sell these switches for a fiver or so, but can I really attempt this myself? I didn't think so. I shone a light on the pedal after taking the fusebox cover off and it seems very high up. Any help appreciated, Cheers, Rica

    ICE display dimming

dubster82, Yeah, the dimmer wire on the ICE harness is orange/white. When I took the old HU out to replace it with the Kenwood one, there was no harness block anywhere in sight. The previous owner had cut off the Corrado harness block, the HU block and just soldered wires together. I went and bought an ISO block and resoldered the wires in at the C end. Since I didn't have a wiring diagram, I only soldered wires I knew what they were e.g. speakers, live and so on, insulating the rest. So, undoubtedly (I hope) the blue/gray wire is sitting somewhere, loose at the moment and I just (once again hopefully) have to locate it and solder it in the right pin. Here's hoping! Cheers, Rica

    ICE display dimming

People, Does anyone have the wiring diagram for the harness on the C end? When I bought the C, some muppet had cut of the harness plug and botched his new unit on with some solder. I'd like to find this dimmer wire as currently my display on the Kenwood is too bright during nighttime. What I really need, is the colour of this dimmer wire, so I can attach it to the harness Cheers, Rica

    Wet Carpet!

Corvr6, Thanks for your thread about the blower cover. I've now successfully taken the cover off, redone the seal with some pipe lagging and just siliconed it down. It is a tad messy at the moment, since I resorted to putting the silicone around the cover with my finger instead of the gun. Here's hoping the leaking will stop! Now to wait for better weather so I can rip the carpets out :) Cheers Rica
  23. Watch out! I think the men in the second pic are upto no good! They're wearing masks and all! 8) Very nice piece of kit, you've got there :) Rica

    Wet Carpet!

Corvr6, So how's your soundproofing? Do you hear any more roadnoise than you did before? I was going to do what Henny suggested, and put down Dynamat/Brown Bread and underlay. I am just being very impatient and want to do this underlay thing now. Only places I seem to find, all need to send it off to me, and I don't have the time/patience. Cheers Rica
