  1. well got the wing pretty much done, indicator smoothed off too. There were a few bits of rust that need grinding out but its all sorted! The heat hit me today, just wasnt comfortable working lol. tommorow i want to refit that wing, take the other off for smoothing and maye get the drivers door smoothed too. Hows yours coming along rams?
  2. oh and i dont need to cut the inner wing , there is already a hole in it just behind the washer fluid bottle
  3. haha cheers kempy i try my best! rams i just had the vent in different places until i saw the position i liked. Also had a butchers on the vortex forums and they have a few different placements. I was going to have it so the middle vent was on the body line but something didnt look right. So glad i got a sprinter vent over the transporter vent! ive used etch primer on all the bare metal parts then went over the top with filler primer
  4. right got the wing vent in today took the wing off and layed the vent on top, i drew around that in permanent marker heres what needed to be cut out hole cut and vent sat flush with wing prepped the edges for welding Tacked in. Then spend ages welding the whole thing up then finally filled and primed, still have loads more to do on it , ut its taking shape!
  5. You lucky git. heres the link to the solenoids i used. Ive been told they should be good enough. Only trucks and big coupes need stronger solenoids http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/UNIVERSAL-ELECTRI ... 5ad6eab5c2 ive mouted my vent below the body line.i spent about an hour deciding where to put it. check my thread im just about to update it
  6. nice work man! it feels like youve been doing exactly the same thing i have today. Gets bloody boring after a while doesnt it?
  7. havent smoothed the wiper im afraid. i hate when it rains and i cant see sod all
  8. hey rams, yea ill be cutting a vent and making a funnel of somesort to cnanel air up to the filter. i am also going to use the buttons like tvrs - after all they do use our mirrors on their cars! as for solenoids i picked up some off ebay that are rated at 15lb pulling force, hopefully that should be enough. The switches do look crap though - lime green! side repeaters will be goin but i havent decided where they will be relocated to lol the washer jets will be mk4 golf heated ones. they mount underneath the bonnet out of sight - i cant be putting ford bits on my car :D i did think about losing the ariel but for some reason i like it there. Also the roof strips are staying. It takes a lot of work to get those filled in. Need to be welded ideally as filler would crack out. Would be a long job welding in metal whilst not distorting the roof because of the heat
  9. yea ive got one on my 1.8t made by neuspeed. i think awesome gti sell them
  10. try a new temp switch in the rad , i dont think they are that much from the stealers. As for your pump have you tried fitting new copper washers between the banko fittings? my older valver used to do that
  11. i was going to either have it mounted on the spoiler at the bottom one one side ( risky i know) or on brakets under the smoothed section. Still undecided so will see what looks best once painted
  12. interesting, do you know where i can get that reflective vinyl from?
  13. i was going to but cant find anywhere for me to do it so ill be getting somebody else to do it. tying to keep costs down by doing as much as i can.Ill probably strip all the lights etc before it goes in also
  14. also got a merc sprinter vent that shall be welded in tommorrrow
  15. more bits done. corrado badge removed - more bloody holes (why couldnt they just stick them on) used my dremel to remove the paint from the edges welded up the holes filled and primed , with a guide coat on top flattened again and painted matt black (filler and primer is porous so i dont want to undo all my hardwork by letting moisture set in) other side Also got to work on the bumper smoothing out the tow eye hole cut a little piece out of my donor bumper sanded the edges of the hole in the bumper and sat the piece into it plastic welded in flattened down its been filled now, just waiting for that to dry
  16. whoops dunno how that double post happened! yea once ive finshed withthe bumper you can have whatever is left. Ill also be smoothing my tow eye and the seams just under the lights. Kempy all that sanding was done by hand with a block. Originally i wasnt going to go smooth but as the front end got mashed including my in pro headlights, fogs and indicators im not really up for spending out on more. Im also not keen on cleaning around silly things like washer jets and side repeaters so they had to go lol
  17. Now i had a lil bump in mr rado but all is good, its given me the motivation to get things done! first off smoothed front bumper..... i had a spare rear bumper knocking about so i set about cutting out pieces to fill in the indicator, fogs and number plate recess. sat in the recess i used a soldering iron to tack it in place then went along the whole thing making small joins with the soldering iron ( its stronger than it looks!) i then cut small rod shaped pieces from the donor bumper and used my gas iron to melt them into the cuts i previously made. then flatted it down a bit skimmed the lot with a thin layer of filler more pics on that soon as its pretty much complete. I thought why stop there. shaved door handles! bonnet got the same treatment small bits welded in just waiting for that to harden before i prime it. rear badge shaved small disc made to weld in the recess useful magnetic clamp to hold it in place welded ground smooth filled and primed

  19. ive just smoothed off my front bumper completely and ive been block flatting it for 3 days, its still not perfect but very close
  20. yea u should still be able to see the colour of the primer beneath it
  21. use a guide coat, get some dark coloured paint and dust it over the bumper, block sand it and all the low spots will still have paint in them. then fill again and repeat the process until there isnt any low spots
  22. It can vary. I used my g60 mounts. You will need to consider a downpipe, driveshafts, intercooler and piping etc
  23. came up for sale on club gti.had to travel 4 hours to get it but its well worth it
  24. i paid 500 for my engine (aum with ko3s) it had 35k on it
  25. Do it mate. my build thread is in members gallery somewhere.
