very classy looking motor! those wheels give the illusion that they are bigger than 16 inch

sweet! yea i think the fan has had it, makes a bit of a noise like its catching something when it rotates. When it doesnt come on my dad flicked it and it started turning lol.will get a new 1 today , not taking any risks.Firecracker you need to send me some pics mate!

it think you are right jay,ive got the cap in front of me and was looking at it for ages. Didnt seem to be broken until i clocked that the rubber o- ring has dislodged itself out its groove. so my coolant system wasnt fully sealed. Going to get a new blue one tommorow as i have the black one and have heard they are poopty.

got the 1.8t installed at last and it starts and runs fine. However once up to temp and the thermostat opened, the coolant level starts to rise out of the expansion tank. Thing is the car isnt over heating (sat at just above 90 on the temp gauge). first thought was an airlock but i thought all the air was out. Another thing is my fan didnt cut in but once i turned the engine off it did? strange. Topped up the coolant and started the car again.it got up to temp again and all was normal, my dad flicked the fan and it started spinning as if it was stuck (so i know i probably need a new fan and possibly new rad fan switch) Would the fan not cutting in cause the coolant to start rising up out the expansion tank? i know that sounds a bit daft but the engine isnt overheating

lil update, got the resistor fitted and all is ok.re routed some of the pipework from the expansion tank an proceeded to bleed the air out of the cooling system.Had a big airlock in the heater matrix but its gone now. still need to sort a few little bits out but everything is cool at the moment. short vid

d reg golf - i will have to have a hunt for the part nos, think i still got the silicone pipes too, they are venair ones. dude - ill be up for that once the car is complete timmy - i sent ben at qpeng an email about the coolant sensor, and i do need the resistor 33ohm to be precise. Their plug and play kits already have them fitted but the diy kits dont. bought myself a pack of 620 resistors today so i should have the right one lol

8th of next month? i might o along if the car is fit! been doing some digging on other forums and on here and apparently i need a 30 ohm resister to bring the temp gauge back to normal.may be different for other rados though

fired her up today - was quite nervous. It burst into life quite nicely but i started to hear noise from the power steering belt, sorte that by bleeding the air out. Idle speed needs to be increased as it sits at 500 rpm there is an airlock in the matrix also the gauge temp went up to 130 degrees! but it wasnt actually that because my mate had his finger in the expansion tank and it was barely hot. So to sum it up i just need to sort out a few niggles and it will be complete :D

had a nice chap pull up in an oak green mk2 golf today whilst i was working on the car. Turns out he has a 20vt ! had a look at his master cylinder and his was the same type as mine, he had cut it right back with no problems. Ive done the same and now the cam cover just clears it. So if you are doing this conversion, it is possible
-
ok kool thanks for that, ive got a valver sitting on my drive doing nothing, might see if that one is different and use that (means bleeding the brakes though)
-
ahhh good stuff, they both look pretty damn sweet, love that colour - whats the body work like on the 16v? how much is it going for? couldnt see the for sale thread
-
ooooooohhh what a lovely pair! back to it though mate i think they look way too good to break? Whats wrong with them?
-
got my old g60 loom in front of me,if you look at the connecter with the pins facing you there is a red (blue trace) on the left, brown (white trace) in the middle, and blue (black trace on the right) hope that helps dude
-
kool much appreciated, i dont have the bolt on the right hand side just the one on the left
-
just dropped a 20vt into my rado g60, I have a problem ... the cam cover touches the brake master cylinder. you can sort of see it in the pic now the cylinder looks similar to the one pictured below, difference being it doesnt have an outlet screwed onto on the right hand side (does have that same shape though and thats what is hittin the cam cover) can i file this down ? i dont want to run without a cam cover!

haha ill make your engine clean if u give me that g60 u aquired the other day - fair trade :D got some more done today - take a look see The driveshafts were bolted back up and the engine mounts torqued down, gear shifter cables are bolted down. Also managed to put the take off in the turbo boost pipe for the n75 valve intercooler mounted, had to cut the centre part our of the front panel. the route it takes up to the throttle body The route from the turbo to the other side of the intercooler And i mounted the oil catch tank where the coil used to be Still working on it as i write this, putting the rad from my 16v in - the outlets are on the drivers side so the other side doesnt get too cluttered
-
well shes in at last gota take a bit of material off the brake cylinder as its fouling the timing belt cover slightly. Tommorrow i need to torque the gearbox bolts up properly and the mounts, then i want to work on the boost piping
-
oh yeh the adrenaline was there! tell you what though vw like to pi$$ people off by putting manifold bolts in places where you cant get to them. As for undoing the down pipe...... put it this way , if i had a swear jar id have a couple thousand by now :D

the fun begins got the g60 lump out today that is all lol
