CALLING ALL PAINT EXPERTS!!! Need advice on high temp paint
Blue_Joe replied to Blue_Joe's topic in Engine Bay
I was told Hammerite Smoothrite wasn;t heat resistant enough! -
Been done already on here!

As many of you know I have taken the engine out of the car to be rebuilt to a better spec and acid dipped to clean it up. I want to then paint the engine block, head, rocker cover, charger and all of the other ancilleries to preferably a gloss black to match the body! What is the best paint to use for this, preferably in a spray can for a smooth finish??? Do I just use the high temp paints from halfords that go up to about 500 deg or are there a better option out there that can withstand the heat and steam/pressure cleaning! That will also last long term?????? You're help will be much appreciated

It was a 2Ltr 16V to start! I'm gonna get shot down for this but in a wierd way I kinda like it!! Just not the front bumper and lights!!!!

I've got Porshe 911 Turbo seats in mine. And Porsche Cup3 Turbo wheels! Seats need subframes modifying - speak to 24V Renshaw as he can do these for you if you ask him nicely and present some funding! The wheels are porsche fitment - 7.5x 17 ET52 5x130. 25mm Hub adapters make them fill the arches just lovely with a set of 205/40/17's But the hub adapters in alloy (don't get the steel ones they are FAR TOO heavy!!!!!) will set you back £250!!!!

Definatly normal Corrado Ownership!!!!! I'm currently spending my working day trying to find a courier to take my engine to Race Power Motorsport for less than silly money in order to do stupid things to it!!! -
I think if you talk to Henny nicely he is thinking of selling some!!!
-
I know g-man does the schick cams for the G60 as he has just sent me one. He may be able to get VR6 ones. If not you are best off sourcing from Germany as will cost you significantly less!
-
Hmmmmm Says it all he's in Iver. Nice place, home of the chav and Ali G!!!
-
Aren't they the wrong wheels on 24v Renshaw as he has the quickly becoming infamous 'Vette wheels Very nice though - good work fella!! Wheres mine :(

I would of thought if you are going from a Polo G40 to a 2.0Ltr 16V You'll be disappointed. The Corrado i s a much heavier car that the Polo and the G40 is a very quick and aggressive drive from what I can gather. Really I'd be looking for a G60 or a VR6 for that sort of move. I would also imagine you would need much more than a ported and flowed head to get from standard 130'ish break (I may be out a little here!) to 180 bhp. G60's start standard at 160bhp and are very tunable at easy cost and the VR standard around 190bhp but more expensive to tune for teh pound! Best off reading various guides and posts on here!
-
Or a just a G60 - Might well be interested in the other one that is available In theory they should fit perfectly as I run a VR6 clutch in my car
-
I didn't cover my alternator! Might get a slating for that though
-
Make sure you cover up the air filter if using an induction kit or drilled airbox. Also cover up the alarm unit and distributor cap! Plus anything else that is similar
-
Supercharged's tailpipe is exactly the same as my old one! The letterbox design
-
I like the oval designs with baffles in them like I have at the moment, I also quite like the letterbox style that I had previously
