You could also use the retrofit and just remove them when you have to have your car inspected. It takes like 10 min to install/remove. Just a thought. Technically they aren’t legal in CA but they are used all the time. I followed CHPs (California Highway Patrol) cars with them on and I never got pulled over. I had them on the car for a year and a half. I drove at night all the time too. Most officials don’t know if a Corrado is new or old so they don’t question the headlights at all. If you get them you have to aim your headlights properly so you arent blinding people.

Why don’t you buy retrofit kit and not have to worry about wiring them? You can get HID kits from here: http://www.corrado.se/xenon/xenon.html or on eBay for slightly cheaper. I got a kit and loved it. No dealing with cutting up your harness or anything. Just a suggestion.
  3. this car is going to be a monster when its done. i cannot wait to see it!
  4. hey where in socal are you guys? im in central california up un santa cruz. nice looking cars by the way.
  5. i am doing the 260 hydro cam from autotech. its being installed next week. i have heard good things about it.
  6. yeah only 70... My friend with the syncro lysholm G60 has one of the 70. I guess only like 30 or so are accounted for today. One of the most beautiful VW's I have ever seen in person.
  7. Here is something someone sent me to help out with the swap. I hope this can help you out. ___________________________________________________________________ The left and front engine mount can be used for the G60 engine, but you have to modify the left one. The left engine mount is missing on the G60 engine, instead there is a flat steel plate with an o-ring. This o-ring act as a seal for the cooling system. You have to modify the new engine mount in a way to take over this function because it isn't flat on the inside. I welded a small steel bar in it and smooth the surface afterwards. Maybe you can leave the plate in place and mount the engine mount on top of it with longer bolts. There is enough play on the slotted bolt hole to position the engine in the right place. Left mount use mk1 gti. All other mount have to be hand made. Rear gearbox mount. On the 020 it's mounted on the left side but on the 02A it's, like in a A2 chassis, on the right. To use the standard mount position of the 02A gearbox I constructed a new mount which can be used with the standard A1 silence block and support. It's even easier to remove than the old one. The entire mount is also made of 5mm mild steel plate right gearbox mount For the ring of the rubber bearing I cut one off an old mount. The entire mount is made of 5mm mild steel plate. (S235JR European standard). Fuel Tank You need to find also the fuel tank of the gti rabbitt which is for injection and has the return line and other differences inside which i cannot tell you right know. Its sure that you need it. Clutch Go for the hydraulic clutch setup only otherwise if you will use a racing clutch setup it will be very hard and the cable will be cut off after a while :( The only thing you have to put the master cylinder inside the car near to the clutch pedal and make a hole inside to go for the tranny cables. Tranny Of course you will go for the 02a tranny so you can update it with a six speed gear kit or lsd. It’s better and stronger for high bhp applications anyway. Intercooler As you already know it is very important to have a big intercooler. Try to measure the dimension in front and go for a handmade IC. YOU NEED ALSO THE GOLF RALLYE ADAPTOR FOR THE SUPERCHARGER.NOT BBM OUTLET OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. Electrical The best thing to do is to find the original Golf G60 dashboard. I know it is difficult actually but it’s the best. All other parts are plug & play. Here is a picture of the mount the guy made.
  8. wow. that pro set up with the 3 legs is amazing looking...wow.
  9. Link fixed. Yeah the video is of a black GTI VR6 and a green Corrado G60 going at it through the hills near my house. The only issues I have had with the mount are that it needs more straps to sturdy the camera. If you use tie downs or more straps that are nice and tight it stops most of the movement. Your camera will stay on, but just in case, that’s why they have the tethers. Watch some of the videos of the guy putting 25lb weights on that mount. It’s pretty good. You will pull your fender off if you really yanked on it good enough. =] I was also thinking of making a plexy glass cover to help save my lense I have for my camera. Thats really the only thing I worry about.
  10. im only paying $35 to fill my car every week.
  11. Nah, it’s only like 2.30 USD per gallon here. It’s actually much cheaper here with the currency change. You guys are getting screwed...yes, our speed limits suck... (Normally its 65 not 55).
  12. i have one... they are worth it...get the pro pack if you get one. the extensions are great. here is a video i did with mine: http://www.shovelbeating.org/~josh/movi ... 20Related/ right click on 319cd.mov and save as. enjoy!
  13. 110-120 C. I think it even gets hotter sometimes...but when we pop the hood, its not even hot.
  14. Almost the same deal with my roommate’s car. We just replaced his blue/black sensors and flushed his coolant system. We don’t get what’s going on... after driving the car for 5 min or so (taking it really easy) the temp will go up to over 230 and the light will start to flash! My car only gets to 230 if I am driving the hell out of my car. We are stumped because we just replaced the sensors and flushed the coolant. Any ideas? Could the new sensors be bad or even the wrong ones?
  15. let me know when you have a question.
  16. Great point Gavin. Be sure that is what you need to do. A lot of time and effort is involved with rebuilding an engine. I’m doing my complete rebuild of a G60 for around $700 USD. I am re-using the pistons and crank. If you need any help on the rebuild I could give you some pointers.
  17. Wonderful. My lever just went limp when I tried to pull mine the other day. Looks like I have my work cut out for me. Not only for getting the hood open but also replacing my rear main seal once I finally get it open.
  18. im doing the same swap. why are you looking to find out?
  19. well right now its 9:45am here in the US. congrats on the new charger!
  20. thats crazy that you guys didnt know what that meant... =]
  21. 1,439.62 GBP I only with I could get that set up for so cheap...
  22. I believe the $250 in shipping should cover everything. You might want to ask them if that includes all of the importing/customs fees. Again, shipping things overseas is always a pain in the ass no matter where its going to or coming from.
