My eldest bought an old XKR a couple of months ago - he's daft as a brush.

Only a car! I thought this thread was going to be about Jennifer Lopez.

Insurance: given me a rubbish offer: Finally resolved.

Yes, take it out. You fixed it we know, but it is still something negative for them to latch onto. -
Tempest said Clearly, you're a bit more special than the average bear, Tempest!

Yeah - it's a classic. Been using it for over 30 years and knew of it before that. Getting too decrepit now for crawling under cars, though. Uncomfortable and messy to do and I never kept any car long enough to see whether it rotted away or not - somebody else always benefits from my car care. (Will apply to better men than me, too, on this forum.) The theory of it seems convincing, though, and it has stood the test of time. Best to inspect your car each year and add more of the goo as required. Bet you dont keep the car long enough to know if it does any good!

Very informative that - dr_mat. I have just put my five quid Maplins multimeter terminals across battery posts. Dont really know how to work it - but I got a reading of 12.96 using the dial at "20" V. Using dial at some other V settings I got 27. The car has not been used for about three weeks but I switch a Draper trickle charger on for a few hours every day. I am hoping, based on what your post says, my reading of 12.96 (albeit on v cheap multimeter) is a good sign? Battery is 3.5 year old Quantum(?) from VAG.

We've got COL 1 N in our town. What would that be worth? Personally, I'd be embarassed - too high profile for me.

Got mine today - thanks, zerocool. -
Sounds as if "Verve" is an oxymoron. Maybe "Sloth" would have been better.

jade said Ma'am - you sound as if you might be what we call in these here parts "a nippy sweetie" :) I expect you were provoked, though!

I am classic green storm in Linlithgow 20 miles west of Edinburgh.

Where are you wiz? My VAG local parts guys in Grangemouth have been good so far despite changing hands. I got Corrado Club discount, too.

Probably doing it it by the book. Nothing like trying it on. Some with more money than time will pay that. Vote with your feet - Shop around. The customer is king. PS - You have to wear a hat so they can't see that zip up the back of your head.

Cheap there, too! about 22k $$$$$$$.

Use that Autoglym leather stuff myself - pity about the nast niff, though.

Typically, most compromises on the grounds of health & safety or environmental issues mean we have to pay more money for a less effective product. I guess it might be difficult to beat the durability of all those volatile solvent-based products that poison our world as well as the people whose job it was to apply them!

What's that jeep thing that looks a bit like a Corrado when it's coming towards you? Anyone know what I mean, or did I dream it?!

A warm welcome our interesting new member! We know a lady in our town here in Scotland who is 96 years old and comes from St Petersburg. Her father was in the Tzar's navy. The new Russia has been through some massive changes since they fled around the time of the Revolution. A Corrado club guy in Russia communicating with us? - How surreal. It would have seemed absolutely impossible in the 1960s when the Javelin or Lightning jet fighters from our local airfield used to intercept Tupolev Tu-95 Bears ten thousand metres above the North Sea. The airmen held no bad feelings about each other, it would be nice to think. As fellow professionals they used to wave to each other. Just before Christmas we had a Moscow student of nuclear physics at our door selling carved, painted ornaments during his holiday to help support his studies. Things are far from perfect, but these must be viewed as a great improvement to how they were. Best regards.

It's too cold at 8C, I'm sure. Best around 20C IIRC. Depends how fussy you are. I've always found blobs of touch up paint always look like.....er...blobs.

I'm not so happy to hear about it on the dipstick - a little on the oil filler cap is OK in winter now and again. Are there any oily droplets in the coolant reservoir? Can you detect a coolant loss such that you have to top up?

Ta, Campaign. Might use them.

Storm77 said One of my favourite female singers. She is so talented. Quality amongst so much dross today IMO. I remember first hearing Aretha Franklin in 1967 and being knocked out. Mary J Blige follows competently in her tradition. I even bought "What's the 411?" for a fiver about three weeks ago to complete my collection. I wont pay £14 for her latest from HMV and Virgin, tho. Will get it when price comes down in a few weeks. HMV and Virgin are dying ducks unless they switch to other things. £40 for Live8 DVDs, there. £25 in Fopp, Edinburgh. Sorry! - I digress!.
