Cheers Kev, that's just the kind of response I needed. Is the turbo on the BAM engines bigger/better? Could he use that instead of doing a complete transplant, or are there many differences between the 150bhp and the 225bhp 20v turbo engines?

My brother-in-law has just purchased an X-reg Mk4 Golf Turbo and wants to as much info as he can get on tuning it (further). It has already been REVO'd at AMD to 212bhp. He wants more  Can anyone suggest where he could go for info on what would be involved with increasing this power output?? I know very little about the 20v turbo, so I can offer him very little advice. He on the UK MK4 forum, but he said it tends to be more of a what it looks like and where the work was done rather than how to go about doing stuff himself. Fitting boost gauges and what exhausts and what air filter and which turbo, or injectors or fuel pressure regulators etc. Any help is much appreciated :D Mods: Not sure if this is the best place for this. Feel free to move to engine bay if that's a better spot....

That has to be one of the best excuses I've ever heard! *Adds to personal reportoir* [/EDIT]Oh, and get those rims sorted, Andy !!

I think I'm getting deja-vu  although I think he's dropped the price some....

Has anyone got a list of what is checked for an MOT? I would like to give the new C a check over before sticking it in for MOT and need to know what I'm checking/inspecting and to what standards. I'm being a bit of a cheap ass, as you can get a manual but the government want me to pay for it and I don't  Cheers

Dude, is Little Thetford close enough?
-
I agree. There aren't expensive either....
-
Yeah, loads, but I'm trying not to get too carried away with this one  Gonna keep stum until I do stuff, as I'm a terrible dreamer! Not a list in sight!

Hmmm, is a 1.8 or 2.0 block? If you've uprated the rods and pistons etc, with the right turbo you'll easily get that power. As far as turbo is concerned I would think the GT28 would do, but if you are buying new, when you spec the turbo, consider smaller A/R on the hotside which would give you quicker spool.
-
Depends really. What is the spec of the block and do you have a target output?
-
Nice work dude. :afro: What turbo 'will' be going on then?

PMSL 5.....

Nice work dude! 8)

Air-ride and you can have both!!!
-
I will be, yes. Just need to fabricate a fuel rail, which I'm doing with the help of a mate at work who has a lathe! 8) How much would he charge to make me one. Cheeky arn't I. :) Not really, I was thinking of making a few, as I'll need to re-coupe the money spent on the special lather tools. I'll see what its gonna cost...

Only a week to go! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Get the companies to give you a written quote, then you can show the father that the prices are reasonable. Don't get it done by a schitt company just to satisfay him either. You shouldn't have to have a substandard job done. You want it back exactly the way it was, and if he doesn't want to go through insurance then he should foot whetever bill he's presented with.

Updated: Car trailer required - Cambridge area
mrbeige replied to mrbeige's topic in Suppliers Forum
Well, I found a couple of companies that will hire a trailer, ranging from £45-60 for the hire and £100-250 for the deposit. I'm using neither, as the bloke who is helping me with the towing has managed to find a local farmer who has hired the trailer for £30 and no deposit! How lucky is that!! :D -
