  1. Even if the initial crash was survivable, the 6x9 speakers flying out from the rear parcel shelf would've decapitated the burberry clad fecker! 8)
  2. Still reckon the Corsa looked better AFTER the crash though !
  3. I really wanted a private plate, but I eventually saw sense and spent the money on security instead....
  4. Kirkstone pass..... What a road. Done it for the first time ever last weekend. My car was panting a bit though, when going up "The Struggle" from Ambleside.
  5. No, she's not. It takes a lot to appreciate the intricacies of a Rado  Tempest You're preaching to the choir now Tempest... I laughed her annoyances off, and told her the exact same thing. (Then wound her up by slipping in the fact my car will soon be worth more than hers) She's a hypocrite though, 'cos she absolutley loves it when people gawp at the car
  6. Lent my girlfreind the car a few months back when her focus wasin for an MOT Was sort of hoping for a similar reaction to the one you had, but all i got was........ The gear shift's too stiff, the clutch is too low, the seats are too hard, the doors are too long and the visibility's awful !!               The annoying thing is, she's probably right!
  7. Quick question..... Are those towing eye caps below the front bumper easily replacable, and if so can you buy them? Just phoned up my stealers parts dept to get a price but he couldn't find them on the computer. Dunno. Maybe I wasn't explaining myself properly to him, but it sounded like he'd been on the wine gums! They MUST exist ???
  8. Get on Google images and type in the names of a few probable cars, see if the mug shots you get back jog your memory (I'm dying to know now) Ps. My first car was a 3 cyl '82 charade 1.0 L Even that basic model had seriously quick accelleration for what it was!
  9. Saw a nice blue one going through Ambleside Saturday afternoon. ****YMA. Didn't clock what type though. Had just parked mine up and was on foot, so thought a wave seemed pointless. Then, a green one yesterday, sat in the Stag traffic lights at Orrel near Wigan. Juuuust managed to get a finger wave out to him before I zipped past. Any takers?
  10. Saw the white G reg with crystal rears on the way into work again this morning. Same time, Same road travelling from Wigan to Skem, directly behind me in traffic for 3-4 miles. Today though, was slightly different. Today he never took the first exit at the roundabout where we usually part company, and after following me right around it and tailing me to a mile long stretch of *cough* PRIVATE dual carriageway, we had a bit of a petrol burning session. Me in the left hand lane, him in the right, it was even stevens up to a ton where he managed to sail past me, turning and exchanging grins and a thumbs up. No doubt his grin was slightly wider than mine at out-gunning me, but I consoled myself with the thought that judging by the exterior mods, he MUST'VE had work done under the bonnet!
  11. The winter months for me, will mostly involve finding some kind of H.G Wells/ timelord bloke, who'll take me back a few weeks and let me warn myself to not blindly trust my freindly neighbourhood North West VW specialist, who, after "fixing" a minor gear linkage problem would end up returning my car with the exhaust rattling. Super stiff gear change. And the need to call out the AA once more after being (physically) unable to de-select reverse gear one day in a car park! Add on to that the cost of a plastic towing eye cap which got snapped off in the process of moving my car from A to B makes for a pretty miserable Lungbubble bloke at the min. Ah well..... Could be worse. Could be skint! DOH!!!!!!!!!
  12. *Rant mode* Dont even get me started! Have taken my baby to Dubsport 3 times now, and it seems as though if you're not asking for 2 VR6 engines to be slotted in, they give it a  of the eyes. Just got my gear cable done by them, and a supposedly 2 1/2 hour job took 2 1/2 days. This wasn't a huge problem for me, but when i got the car back, the heat sheilding around the bulkhead which you can see when the bonnets up looked like a hand grenade had gone off in it, plus the exhaust is rattling like a bastard on the rear axle. The first time went there, the lad who has tats up his arm was so ignorant he wound me up to the point where I almost lost my usually unwavering laid back outlook. He COMPLETELEY blanked me when i came into the otherwise empty reception and made my "Hello, I'm here to drop my car off for a cam belt change" statement. Then, after eventually snatching my keys from me, left me standing there for what felt like an hour before finally deciding to look up at me to say "Are you still here because you want to talk to the mechanic?"   "No mate, I'm stood here waiting for you to respond to me" "Oh. Er, Yeah mate, no probs..... Cheers" I found myself asking why I'd thought getting towed 6 miles to a `specialist' was favourable over going to the garage 2 minutes away from my house for what was after all a non Corrado specific job! Must be daft! *Rant mode off*
  13. Hello kevvv, Same thing happened to mine last week. Gear change went from positive *Clunk* to a sort of spongey *Plop* and within a day the linkage went *P'twing* leaving me stranded in neutral. 65 quid for a newie from the highwaymen at VW, and my local specialist reckons 60 quid for fitting labour Get it sorted before you have to mate, sounds like it's going the same way mine did. :?
  14. Bit of an update. Just phoned the stealers who told me there are 2 cables. One is a shift cable, the other a select cable. £62 each. Can anyone tell me from the pic above which of these I've knackered? Ta.
  15. Garden twine..... Now there's an idea. Does it have to be Corrado specific garden twine, or would golf / passatt twine do?
  16. Hmmm... Wish a few more people back then had've been a bit less conservative. I'd have one in that colour anyday!
  17. If that was a legit colour option, how come it's so rare? Looks good!
  18. 120 Notes??? For a bit of rod? That's SCANDALOUS! Was hoping for a couple of quid fix there, but doesn't look like it's gonna happen. Thanks for that info Jim. At least now I know what's involved in doing the job meself. If i got one from a scrappy, does it have to be corrado specific, or would a golf / passat do?
  19. Is it a cable change gearbox? The bar inside that rubber boot I'm holding feels like a pretty solid link straight back to the gear stick. AA bloke also said he'd never seen one of these go before. Typical! :|
  20. God, I've had a mare today! The problem is the point were the gearstick control rod attaches to the gearbox lever arm. Something went west this afternoon leaving the 2 disconnected (and me stuck in neutral, blocking traffic) The Alcoholics Anonymous bloke got a call, and after a while of trying to cobble something together, he eventually admitted defeat and towed me home. So I'm looking at this now, scratching my head . First pic shows the square rubber bush with a hole through it off the gearbox lever arm, and this looks as though something's snapped off the metal band around it. second pic shows the round solid steel arm protruding from the rubber boot with an indentation at the end (maybe for some kind of clip?) Whatever joined these 2 together is probably down a grid somewhere, so does anyone know whether, if i buy a new squre bush thing it'll have whats needed to re-connect everything? Cheers.
  21. Just been on to DVLA's website on the outside chance they had public info on numbers of cars still registered as on the road. (maybe even colours too) No prizes for guessing they dont. But I've seen people on here post specific car info from some RAC site with just a reg plate. Does that site have anything like this? I wonder how many C's there are left in the UK Bet most of them are varying shades of red though.
  22. I'm with Shilakadaddy, mate.... Near enough every bin of a runaround car i've had (i.e. before i owned a Corrado) has been Vauxhall. No style No cred No grip (ever) But despite my best efforts, I COULD NOT KILL THEM! Get a cheap oily one. Run it into the good hard earth fr 12 months, then sacrifice it to the god of barbeque fuel! You know it makes sense :)
  23. Was i drunk, or do I remember the top gear Corrado belonging to someone on here? Seem to remember someone noticed it was missing a front windscreen wiper? Maybe i dreamt it
  24. 8 track reel to reel tape? The marvells of modern sience. I've just stumbled on a pic of you BEFORE you must've first visited your local audioshack, Kev!
