Well I think this is exactly what is happening now - the bearings in the idler pulley are done. They are making a horrific squealing noise! Few questions if I may (I am not with the car through the week until I move so I need some help!) - how many idlers on the vr6? Is it (or them) changed when a charger is fitted? I'll probably replace the standard idler with either that Vortech one or the Gruven parts pulley. Still need to work out whether this Vortech idler brings any added value

_leon_'s Corrado - R32/Gemini box now in progress

Hey Joe hows things going? I liked the arbs a lot yeah - when both front and rear were fitted. But yeah I decided I wanted a charged VR - and bought NickVR6's old one. Still loving it! A lot more refined and prefer it for the majority of the journeys I do - however at times I do miss the chuckability of the G60. If I started to change the setup I'm sure I could get that back - but need money for London - as yeah I'm in the process of moving down here at the moment - work here every week pretty much... Hows things with yourself? -
Does anyone know where I can easily get BBS center caps for BBS RX wheels? Cheers 8)

Excellent - being in Ruislip - their location is very easy :) What was the going rate?

Can anyone recommend good wheel refurbishers in the west of London? I'm in Ruislip at the moment if that helps... Thanks 8)

I used demonplates - their service is great. LEZ - I wonder how long before the Corrado falls under the LEZ restrictions. A charged VR can't be that low on emissions... Thoughts?
-
how did you find it worked? I must have a look when home on saturday and see what routing i eventually used. how much was it? the one stealth mentioned was around £100...

Has anyone ever bought a duplicate MOT certificate online (of the latest VOSA variety)? I've seen a few places http://www.motbypost.co.uk/ being one. I'm sure its legit - yet still skeptical. If anyones used one of these services - can they post up what url to go with please? Need one but never at home due to work...

I'd be delighted to sell you belt slip. Do you use paypal?
-
Thanks a lot guys :) Charlie - actually not had to re-tension the belt since fitting the new one - and it gets plenty of hard driving. Nick did say after 500miles to check the tension - but it was fine. I don't get much slip - but the tension needed seems a lot - and once I heard about a pulley that allows you to run less tension - I wanted to get it! Karl - what is that pulley? As in - what makes it different from a normal pulley? And does it replace the Idler pulley? James - 42mm pulley? What size is the std 8psi pulley? When changing to a smaller pulley - is it a case of cranking up the belt tension, or changing a pulley or belt? And that belt routing seems like the route I use - works very well. thanks again chaps - every little bit helps
-
what head spacer did you use? and how different has the fidanza flywheel made? ever looked into lightweight alu pulleys such as the gruven items?
-
Thanks mate - the way I have it wrapped around means around 60-70% of the pulley has contact with the belt. I noticed 2 ways it could go on - and the other way had around 20% contact... so I was positive it was on the right way. Will have a read of what James wrote - tbh that thread is so bloody big now and the search sometimes doesn't let you jump into the page you want - I haven't looked through it all yet. I think what I should have said in the original post was the pulley I was asking about it supposed to allow you to run less tension too. I don't know the supplier or what exactly it is - but read it can also reduce belt slip. It was around 100 quid and came from the states. I'll ask Vince again and post up here unless someone else knows what it is. Positive I am routing the belt the best way I can at the moment. Cheers bud

Thanks mate. I think the belt thats on it just now is a GSF one or similar. I don't get any belt slip with the 8psi pulley - but did manage to rip through the first one after slippage (off the charger pulley...). Thanks a lot - will get a few ordered
-
Hi - is there a pulley that helps to reduce belt slip when using a Vortech charger on the VR6? I am sure I read somewhere about a dual idler pulley - but not exactly sure what this is and how it helps. Stealth can get something similar I believe form the states. Anyone able to point out what this is please? Thanks
-
Can I please ask if anyone has the part number for the aux belt needed when running a Vortech charger? I need to order a few and not sure which one to get. I have read aux belts for air-con VR6's are ok to use - but again any part numbers would be brilliant. Any help appreciated :)

they're breakfast!
-
actually - my preference leans more towards a homemade burger with peppercorn sauce.

Get a graph from a VRT setup and see how different it is. They use the VR box and I've not heard of them wanting to swap.
-
I actually meant the intake - like a VSR etc to bring the torque band further down the range. I was still under the impression a VSR/VGI would do that regardless of being charged or not. Does the SP intake deaden the howl significantly? I was looking at a certain VSR but struggling to get some info just at the moment. Going to do the fans anyway - but the rerouting is putting me off the SP intake

leon Here you bought Nicks car, that is a great car well setup. You defo want some sp cams in there :) Nick did a fantastic job on the car - I feel guilty for buying it - but I'm positive he'll have a good drive of it again when we next catch up. In the meantime though I will definitely enjoy driving it LOL! I've got a fair list of stuff to work through - but those cams are part of that list yep :D Good to hear theyre a good option - the power in the car is fantastic right now - I can only imagine a further torque increase would be superb! Thinking a change of manifold would help too. Watching carefully lol
-
cheers bud - thanks for that - loved this car since ever - quality stuff :D
