Butterfly, any ideas on nice places to eat/drink in and around tewkesbury? i have only been there a couple of times for company meetings so not really had chance to explore the area. oh, and well done on the new possition in the ccgb.

the part you have marked as the buzzer is not a buzzer, its a variable capacitor, i am pretty sure the buzzer is not in the cluster. i have also seen cars with cruise control fitted and there was no connection to that contact, i am still pretty sure its some kind of diagnostic/mileage reading port.

not specifically for the corrado but you may be able to get a custom one made by someone like powerflow or adapt one from another car.

i agree they do look stupid, but it would only be used for commuting long distance on the motorway, i was more bothered about whether it would cause any damage to the car, i understand the car needs to be spotless before you fit them as any grit will get rubbed in. if there isnt one availiable that fits very well i might try making one from neoprene (wetsuit material) but has anyone got any idea where to get it from? i also dont really know what to line it with? i thought about sewing the flexible magnetic strip from a refrigerator door seal into the rear edge to stop it flapping. i used some of that foliatec edge protector stuff on the leading edge of my old mr2 bonnet, and allthough it was probably the only part of the car that didnt rust away, it looked horrible and the paint was really bad when i removed it especially as the rest had been polished which left a ridge in the paint. also the car park is very busy and you need to get there early to get a space so if i park across 2 spaces it will end up getting clamped.

it looks like due to a change in the company i work for that i will be clocking up some proper mileage on the rado, until recently i have been a uk based vehicle tracking system fitter, and was supplied with a van which i could also use for private use. the rado only really got used for driving short distances to mates houses in the evenings or weekends and to the odd show. basically the runcorn based office that i currently work from will be closed down and i will be working in the new parent companies offices in tewkesbury for 3 days of the week and from home for the other 2. so that will mean driving to tewkesbury from wrexham and back at least once a week, the miles on the clock dont really bother me to be honest as its allready on 137k and still doesnt use a drop of oil, and if the engine does start to wear out it will probably get the 20vt treatment :lol: what does worry me a little is the wear and tear, especially stone chips or dents when its parked in the company car park. :? i had considered getting a cheap second runaround but i dont really think its worth it and i enjoy driving the rado too much the company change has come with a healthy rise (which i have been waiting for for about 3 years) and also daily bonuses when working from tewkesbury or abroad so that should help fund the corrado, but has anyone got any advice about using the rado for big miles? i was thinking of getting a bonnet bra for it to reduce stone chips, but will that cause more damage than good? and also a set of those soft magnetic side strips that i saw in one of the vw mags (any ideas where from?) just for when its parked at work as the car park is shared with the local council offices and a few people there have mentioned that some of the elderly visitors tend to open car doors into other cars. :mad:

according to a mate of mine it was intended for reading information from the clocks via a computer, i have taken the clocks apart a few times and there is not a buzzer inside the actual cluster, the contacts behind the blanking plug just go to the chip on the back of the clocks.

had they been bottomed out heavily? it looks like the bump stops have split open.

yeah, i cant get used to drive by wire stuff at all, especially when i pull up to a junction and then go to pull away quickly and because i have just let off the brake it takes ages to pull away, which usually happens just as a lorry comes around the corner towards me. that is in a diesel though.

yeah and it also had a fully welded in rollcage with struts going through the bulkhead to the turrets, one very stiff corrado. -

yeah there was definately mud on the bank next to hill top, you could see the marshy patches easily but that still didnt stop some planks trying to get through it in a ford ka courtesy car, which had its bumber ripped off when it was towed out :lol: did you see the boot floor in the rado? it looked like it had been straightened a few times, the team who where running it weren't around when i saw it. that f3 crash was pretty nasty as well, we where all sitting on the bank half way between hill top and knickerbrook, what happened to the mk2 golf that was running? -

it was a zetec powered ginetta actually from the ginetta cup :lol: i went with some friends of mine, and apart from the weather it was a great day, a few people got stuck in the mud including a landrover discovery up to its axles :lol: it was a shame the corrado had to retire from the race as it was holding its own quite well up to that point, saw a couple of rado's parked up and some very tasty cars in the car parks especially this one -

do all the lights on the dash go dim or turn off completely when you try and start it?

this site tells you number of keepers and a couple of other details http://www.vehiclecheck.net/ it shows 5 former keepers so you should be able to tell if its been sold on since you sold it, as long as you know the number of keepers before you had it.

just checked on the rac reg checker thingy and L405CAY doesnt seem to be registered but L666COR is, but there is no real information availiable on it RAC CHECKER CLICKY i'm sure it used to tell you more that that?

hi tarche2 just got back from picking the cabrio up from you, toe (the girl who bought it ) has got a massive grin on her face, she had the roof down all the way back from london and managed to miss most of the rain :lol: -
if you dont mind using non oem parts then it works out cheaper and easier to buy a pair of lower arms with the bushes allready fitted. euro car parts ball joints £6.83 each (might as well change them as it will save doing them at a later date) top mounts £11.54 each (may be better to get them from vw as general opinion is they are better but double the price) bottom wishbones with pre fitted bushes £14.44 each you might need a set of spring compressors, and a tool for removing the threaded tube that sits under the top nut of the top mounts and also a deep socket and allen key to remove the top nut, unless you know someone with an air ratchet to spin the nuts off.

siezed rear calipers are a very common problem on the corrado, i have gone the same route as a few on here and swapped them for golf mk4 items, do a search for mk4 callipers and you should find a lot of info on it. the knocking and loose sensation on the front offside could be a bottom ball joint, top mount, or worn bottom arm bushes, you would be better off changing all of those parts anyway if you dont know when they where last done. if you remove the plastic cap on top of the suspension top mount there should be no more than about a finger thickness between the metal top plate and the body of the car, any more than that or if one is higher than the other with the wheels straight then that usually means the top mount is shot anyway.

there is also the theory that the hot oily vapour that gets fed back to the charger washes away the ptfe grease coating that is applied to the internals of the charger, hot air is a bad idea anyway as it reduces the efficiency of the charger. I found before i removed the return pipe that after a good thrashing the charger would be hot to the touch and after i removed the return it ran quite cool, it didnt really give an increase in power but it did seem to reduce the loss of power which occured when the charger got a bit toasty. there is allways a nice layer of the ptfe lube on the inside of my charger now but before i had it re-built at g-werks and removed the return i took it apart myself and all there was inside was a very thin patchy layer of mucky black oil which looked like it had actually built up around the apex strips rather than lubricated them. personally i wouldnt believe a word jabbasport say after seeing one of their chargers that was supposedly a stage 4, and even had s4 engraved into the casing, but had absolutely no porting work whatsoever and had to be re-built again after 2k as one of the seals had been fitted on an angle causing it to fail and leak like a sieve.

i have fitted the climatronic system from a SEAT leon to my 91 g60, well most of it anyway i still need to fit the air con rad and pipes but all the electrics now work fine. the SEAT and vw systems are almost exactly the same apart from the display, the SEAT has a larger clearer display and illuminates red which i prefer. my corrado didnt have air con to begin with so it was a bit more time consuming to fit all the bits. there are a couple of pics of mine here SEAT climatronic screen

the whistle would most probably have been the cracked boost return, before i removed my boost return it didnt whistle on deceleration. if you want the whistle back just remove the boost return, blank off the charger inlet, fit a filter to your isv and maybe fit a catch tank to you oil breather or just vent it under the car.

i know phatvr6 was talking about getting some standard shape ones made up in carbon fibre, i gave him my old spare one as a template clicky i have to agree with what others have said though i think those big ones are horrible. but each to their own. have you thought about getting a bodyshop to increase the size of the original spoiler or maybe adding more of flick to the back of it?
