so we cant even use f***ing sunvisors in the summer either then. i know its a damn site safer having a tomtom doing the navigation for me instead of trying to read a map on the passenger seat :| these pointless law makers really need to find something usefull to do.

whats going on with the fiesta in the garage in that shot? are all those lights for de-icing the road as you drive ?

have you actually asked for quotes for fully comp? i was quoted £600 fully comp or £750 tpft so some companies are actually cheaper to go fully comp with. unfortunately your age and lack of ncb will have a big effect on your premium, just keep shopping around and maybe pluck up the courage to go and buy a copy of :pukeright: max power :pukeleft: , you will only need the insurance ad's out of the back, just try not to look at any of the previous pages, think of them as glossy toilet paper

yeah but the title of this thread is :Pic Request: Colour coded number plate surrounds so shouldnt it be :Pic Request: Colour coded headlight surrounds????? or am i missing something????

hmm just realised its the same as the microscan an 500 alarm imobiliser. http://www.microscan.uk.com/insalarms.htm which is what i have fitted to mine it even has the stupidly bright blue LED. i can get these for about 60quid as they are based round the corner from where i work 8). i also have the second button as the boot release, but i might change it to the drivers door.

hmm sounds like that could be my problem as well, i thought it was the tappets but changing them hasnt seemed to have helped much. mine is quiet on tick over and under load but rattles a little on part load. any idea what the tolerences are for just fitting new shells or getting the crank ground with oversize shells, also is it worth changing anything else while its apart?

the BBS RM centre caps are the same fitment as the BBS RH g60 wheels. a mate of mine has g60 wheels on his golf and i usually swap my black ones for his silver ones and see how long it takes for him to notice  . there are different part numbers depending on the age of the caps as far as i know, i think some badges had 3 clips on the back and others have 4 as well.

Main Differnaces Between A Charger And A Turbo On A VR?
coolrado replied to rixy's topic in Engine Bay
odd thing is its a right hand drive but on german plates ? i think it will probably be going back to vw to be taken to bits and analysed after doing the journey. they where very cagey about what engine was in the golf and seemed quite surprised i knew what it was  -

i will be able to let you know what they drive like on friday as we are fitting the tracking system to one that is going on a round the world record attempt 8) i will have a good look around the engine bay while we are at it  the badge on the back does say TSI though :? -
sorry if im hijacking someone elses thread here, but what parts do i need to order to fit my air con compressor? the one i have is from a leon but it has the same size pulley as the corrado ones, it lines up perfectly with the ribbed belt and mounts on the stock bracket. so what pullies and belts would i need? both my local dealers have proven multiple times that they are hopeless so i make sure i have a part numbers where possible otherwise i know they will screw it up. the guy on the parts counter let me look at the etka screen but said he will not order the parts until he knows they are definately correct. i had a good look at the top gear g60 video, it shows that the air con version has a v-belt pulley on the water pump, instead of being driven by the ribbed belt it is driven off a longer v-belt that also drives the power steering as normal. cheers dan

sorry about this, but Ben hasnt really had time to do much work on the mounts, or even come on here to check the forum, due to his 1962 splitty project arriving in the uk a bit earlier than expected. we are both going to be working on it flat out for a while before the show season starts, i'm actually still picking the grit from the bead blaster out of my ears as i type after we started on it today  . we have also been looking into farming out the manufacture of some of the mount parts to a fully automated machine shop who also have the facillity to stress test the components. they are quite time consuming to produce and if they are made in bulk the costs can be brought down and the finnished price should therefore be lower. he does still intend to go into full production with the mounts but cant promise when it will be. again sorry if any of you have been waiting for these, but ben couldnt pass up the oppertunity to get this camper when it came along and its been a dream of his for a while to get his hands on one. its a 1962, 13 window (i think) walkthrough which is soon having a brand new engine and IRS fitted as well as the full deluxe kit and safari pop outs 8) the lucky b*stard

if nobody else wants them have you still got the different pulleys for the water pump and crankshaft that where fitted to g60's with air con. or could you find any part numbers on them? i have tried finding some and asked the dealers but they hav'nt got a clue and wont order them without a part number. thanks dan

:thumbleft: no problem, one for the knowledge base maybe, as i know a couple of people who had the same problem.

you shouldnt really short the wires out for any more than a split second as the guage will move beyond is normal range of travel and the mechanism becomes disconnected, you should be able to take the guage apart and find that a small peg on the back of the mechanism has popped out of a slotted guide, just re-locate the peg and it should be fine. when the sender failed on mine the needle only just moved even after half an hour of driving. for the cost of the senders you might as well change the blue and black senders at the same time as mine actually failed within two weeks of each other.

Get the violins out.... something else just went pop
coolrado replied to moneypit23's topic in Engine Bay
take the plug off the radiator temp switch(bottom right as you look at the car from the front) and link the pins across cant remember the colours but if you check which one has 12v on it, link that to the other pins, one should make the fan run slow the other should make it run fast, if that works that rules out your fan motor and would point to the temp switch. allthough thats on a g60 so not sure it applies to the vr? -

the fan should kick in on low speed at just over half way and then high speed if it gets really hot, you shouldnt really see the high speed as it shouldnt really get that hot. -

yeah but it shouldnt be more than a thin layer of sludge on the oil cap. did it seem to start/run ok once it cooled down again? -

is your fan kicking in at all? i forgot to plug the fan back in a couple of months ago while i was working on the engine and while sitting in traffic it overheated and spat a load of coolant out, the gurgling noise is normal when it overheats, its the coolant bubbling though the system. check there is no creamy sludge on the bottom of the oil cap or in the coolant bottle. -
erm if it was a big win probably 1. a veyron 2. a gt40 or new gt 3. probably a decent kit car as having won the lottery and not needing to work i could build my own car with top spec everything, i would love the feeling of driving my dream car that i had built myself 8) 4. a supercharged arial atom 5. a house with a huge open plan ground floor where i could park or work on all the cars 8) .... (seriously)

using the spare wheel-well as a sub enclosure
coolrado replied to chrishill's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
thats my boot before i replaced the 10" with a 12", i used to have it mounted in the full size spare with a disk of mdf on the bottom and a ring of mdf on the top with the sub mounted in it and clamped through with 8, 10mm threaded bars, i have now built a fully custom round box to replace the spare completely which is held down by the spare wheel securing bolt. the floor is suspended and hides the dvb tuner and other bits and pieces, i now have the cd changer, dvd changer, two amps and the power cap mounted in the recesses at the sides of the boot. -
senseless waste of a classic, typical of these just for ratings shows  a mate of mine used to drag a pop called "fizzy pop" for a while, there where two large holes in the main road leading into his village where he locked the front brakes and lit the back tyres up

help me heat my van...im sleeping in the pyranees in it!!
coolrado replied to chaz g60's topic in General Car Chat
yeah i saw one of these being used a while ago at the cheddar challenge mountain bike racing, and they are a great piece of kit, they run for ages on a canister of gas, a guy had one in his splitty camper and it was toasty and warm all night according to him.
