bad luck mate :( same happened to me a few weeks ago and i have only just got it sorted if its gonna need a new bumper it will cost £414.75 +vat because i just had a new one fitted, plus painting, so if he really wants to pay for it himself he might be a bit shocked
-
it was paid for by the insurance of the woman who drove into the back of me 8) think it was about 400quid for paint and labour and 414quid plus vat for a brand new bumper and the guy who runs the bodyshop knows my dad so he did the numberplate panel for free with the left over paint the rest of the paint is original and coud do with cutting in a bit to be honest oh he also gave me a tub full of carnuba wax polish to try out 8) chrishill not too keen on the "blingyness" of inpro's really allthough they do look good i have tried to get rid of as much chrome as possible
-
i think he means this one

are you able to check the supply to the ignition system to see if it cuts out when it stops? it might just be a dry joint in the ecu but if it cant be repaired you can probably pick one up from a breakers yard if it is the ecu at fault. i have seen ecu's go from anywhere between 10 and 50 quid second hand and as much as 500 quid new so not sure on a price
-
not myself but have heard mention of similar problems on vr6 immobilisers where they initially work and then cut out
-
does it have a factory fit immobiliser?
-
he has done a superb job on the bumper and rear panel and he has colour coded the number plate panel too 8) the dent on the rear panel was only the size of a penny and he has done the whole rear panel and merged it into the rear quarters :D just need to put the badges back on as he didnt want to put them on in the wrong place :) do you think i should red tint the lights too? anyone know any measurements for the badge spacing? i have the supercharged and g60 badges a couple of quick snaps (between rain showers)

signed .............. would be a shame to loose more of the uk's racing heritage. but you might want to correct the spelling before you show it to the council. it should be due not dew  -
and i thought it was a nickname for underpants

get yourself a proper set of stud extractors they are only about a tenner, they use a tapered opposite tread so the more you try to undo them the more they grip and they take a lot of stick i have used them on the big bumper bolts, wheel bolts and a subframe mount bolt on my old mr2 so they should get yours out, also soak it in plus gas or a decent penetrating oil for a while before you try anything else

people like that really annoy me top gear did a feature on that toyota prius that seems to be selling very well in the US with the tree hugger types and proved it to be less economical than a diesel lupo due to it having to haul its lardy arse around. they all seem to go on about using busses as a more economical alternative to cars but as most of the buses are outdated and poorly maitained they use more fuel than if all the passengers drove them selves in an average car i cant see top gear being pulled tbh, didnt they try to stop it once before but brought it back due to public demand ?

body shop phoned an hour ago its ready and i will be picking it up tomorrow 8)   have been driving that pile-o-poo renault for a couple of days and the only possitive thing i can say about it is its economical  managed 65mpg on the way to work this morning  (its witchcraft i tell ye)

finally took the c into the bodyshop this morning after being rear ended a few weeks ago i then went home and waited for the courtesy car to be dropped off, the girl i spoke to at the hire company said i should be getting a new golf which i would have been quite pleased with, but what turned up on the back of the delivery truck .............. a brand new renault megane dci in what can only be described as snot green!!! :pukeright: :pukeright: its bl**dy horrible apart from its obvious god awfull looks its embarrasingly slow(my caddy van wipes the floor with it ), terribly built, handles like crap, the power steering is totally numb and the brakes are so over servo'd the slightest touch almost sends you through the windscreen  , i absolutely hate it and cant wait to get the c back, its just made me realise even more how great a car the c actually is for its age 8) needless to say i will be treating the hire car with the care it deserves  :norty:

you can get the spray grease from g-man (darren) i think its some kind of ptfe grease and is sprayed in through the blanking plate
-
probably better off going for the boge turbos if you want to keep the original ride quality
-
someone needs to animate those first two pics to make him do the hokey cokey

a friend of mine had a 3 year old A-class which he had quite a few problems with, including rust around the fuel flap where the filler neck is spot welded to the body, after sending it back to merc 8 times to try and sort it out (including 3 rear quarter re-sprays none of which matched the rest of the car) he finally got a re-fund from the merc garage and was really pi$$ed off with the way he had been treated. and then went and bought a smart roadster

britain still make the best handling and looking sports cars though tvr, westfield, lotus, morgan, aerial, ginetta, marcos, ac and plenty of unique kit car manufacturers. i think we should stick to what we are good at, britain has never really been that good at managing mass production when it comes to cars
-
all the parts probably cost around 250 quid but i did all the work myself i have no idea what a garage would charge, but laser allighnment should only cost about 35 quid
-
get the camber and tracking checked first as they may not have been done properly by the previous owner. and if i where you i would change all the bushes, top mounts, ball joints and track rod ends, mine is on 127k and they all needed doing its made a hell of a difference though
-
im not surprised they cant hear you if your travelling at the speed of light you would hit them long before the sound reached them

changing hydraulic tappets, what else should i do
coolrado replied to coolrado's topic in Engine Bay
oh its a 91 g60 forgot that bit  -
i use this stuff http://www.qed.co.uk/cables/speaker/silver_bw.html which is meant for high grade home audio but as i get it very cheap i might as well use it in the car. the bi-wire cable is also handy as it keeps the cable runs a lot neater
-
i think my tappets are starting to wear out a bit after 127,000 miles (a bit tappy in the mornings) and if changing to 15w40 dosnt sort it i will be changing the tappets anyway, is it worth doing anything else at the same time apart from getting my rocker cover powder coated ? i also sometimes hear the same tapping half way up the revs when on part load could it be anything else other than the tappets ? where is best to get them as i have only just found out ECP have opened a branch in chester
