mine was standard when the clutch went but it had been a bit juddery for a while so i had a new one ready to go in. the new one was also a sachs clutch but it seems they have beefed up the bit that breaks now.
-
this spring breaking loose seems quite common on the g60's mine went at 120k while down shifting on the motorway
-
anyone got that link for downloading top gear i cant find it anywhere and i missed it last night
-
check both your door pins are going dowm fully when you lock it, the passenger side pin was going down on mine but not fully until i re-oiled it
-
sounds like sticky mechs when i first got mine i would lock it and 30 seconds or so later it would unlock itself it turned out to be the passenger door lock mech was dry and was sticking try using the 3in1 with ptfe spray from halfords seems to keep all my locks nice and loose

car: 91 G60 Exhaust: original vw opinion: superb for the age of the system and i recently found out the tail pipe end is stainless but painted black so i stripped it back and got it on the buffer it now looks like a new tail pipe. only problem i had was some little turd who thought it would be funny to stand on the tail pipe which snapped the rear hook off the exhaust, which i got welded back on for the price of a beer and is as good as new. only very slight signs of rust around the welds but nothing serious. would go for bastuck if it ever does start to fall apart. could people please put the price they paid for their system as that will also help people make up thier minds

or chuck a porsche 944 engine in it like the one in pvw  i thought it looked standard from the outside until they showed it next to a standard one
-
the level of detail on this car is truely amazing, whatever some may think of the styling choices imo this car is a work of art, and like all true art it divides opinion

and a water injection kit from the current group buy. i am also looking at getting one of the g-werks stand-alone oil feed kits and maybe a tooth belt system

i didnt say skill was the issue either but the police have used the flying pigs EXPERIENCE and SKILL as a reason to justify the speeds he was doing. we DONT pay coppers to drive like idiots for no real reason and put OUR lives at risk, there is no real difference between driving at high speed on the road or a track except on a track the only persons life that is in danger is the driver there are plenty of test tracks and even test centres set up like mock villages that could have been used for this at the least there should have been a police escort or other police drivers playing the part of other motorists or even a helicopter making sure the road ahead was clear, like they do on the wrc
-
if people are saying its ok for them to travel at such ridiculous speeds on a public highway because they are trained experienced drivers, then why do rally drivers get stopped and given fines and points on their licences for going 3mph over the limit when driving between rally stages? i doubt very much that any traffic copper is a better driver than any of the wrc drivers who got screwed for slightly breaking the speed limit. and if they are saying its ok because they where driving on deserted roads at 4am then why not use a race track shurely that would be the safest option. there is no excuse for this really, i freely admit i speed on the motorway on a daily basis to and from work but i accept the fact that i may get caught and penalised for doing so and have been in the past, but i certainly would never even think of doing the same sort of speeds as the "flying pig" in 30 mph limits or built up areas
-
have you driven one though? a mate of mine bought one a couple of years ago and i was very dissapointed with it. he was going to sell it two months after he bought it due to constant old man jokes from his girlfriend who used to duck in the passenger seat if she saw someone she knew  he finnally sold it after reversing over a cattle grid and the exhaust cought the grid and pushed forward cracking the turbo (slightly lowered on avo's) he and his girlfriend now both have mk2 gti's
-
what you pooing yourself when the dash went up in flames or the fire itself
-
i suppose but the old 900 turbo's are pretty crap. must admit i wouldnt say no to a 9 5 aero hot 8)
-
My thoughts exactly! And Saab turbos are cool  yeah in a flat cap wearing, pipe smoking, worthers original in the glovebox, tartan blanket on the back seats, comfy slipper type of way
-
ahh nasty someone broke in and sprayed your vents silver, b****d vandals

what do you get in these repair kits? is it just seals?

So are you taking orders for knocking up a load of leather interiors for us guys on here? :D ] the only thing stopping me re-trimming the rado is finding the right leather at the right price. the only problem with the mr2 seats was they where shockingly hot in the summer and i would prefer perforated leather. Ideally i would also get air con but it seems a lot of work
-
i re-trimmed the seats on my mr2 in leather and i found it quite easy really, but i did use my mums industrial sewing machine which doesnt use a variable speed motor but a clutch instead, its quite scary to use sometimes
-
didnt vw use a certain amount of ballast when doing the 0-60 runs that they published? im sure someone told me thats why vw used to beat other manufacturers cars who had quoted quicker 0-60 as they ran them with no ballast and a nearly empty tank.
-
would this be more effective if the water droplets are even finer? i have a big box full of alloy atomising jets from an industrial greenhouse which could be quite usefull for this like you say this is a cheap mod so its got to be worth a try and although some might just dismiss it and say its been tried on the rolling road with no noticeable gains, thats a rolling road and doesnt really bear any simillarity to the real road i might try this on the weekend and if it doesnt work i will just take it back off and all it will have cost me is a couple of hours
