  1. Just had an idle issue problem with my Dad's Mk.3 Golf cab (2.0l AGG code engine) We replaced the MAF as it threw up a fault code when scanned along with a lambda fault, even though the lambda was replaced recently. Both codes cleared after changing the MAF so that sorted that, and it drove better, but the idle was still erratic. In the end we traced it to a faulty plastic pipe for the brake servo, leaking where it meets the servo. Lots of scrap Mk.3's have the same issue so I cut the pipe back an inch, heated it up with a heat gun and pushed the right angle end back into the pipe. Idle is now sorted. Might be worth a look with Corrado's being of a similar vintage?
  2. Just out of curiosity, I tried my 635CSi a couple of years back, the price offered, just £175 :bonk:
  3. Mine was also an issue with the pedal sensor. Got lucky with a secondhand replacement and all has been well since.
  4. Work for a classic Volkswagen restoration company, mainly doing split screen and bay window vans, although the odd Beetle sneaks in. Trained as a paint sprayer but do pretty much everything to do with crusty old vans.
  5. Anyone on here owned any of my two? M29MBL, moonlight blue VR6 N292TVV, classic green VR6 storm(although I know the last 2 owners since 2002 so just the first to track down)
  6. Sadly I can't bring my car as I'll be working on a trade stand there with work and probably driving one of works vans. Will try and pop over to the display though :thumbleft:
  7. '95 VR6 storm on 181100 '94 VR6 (soon to be TDi) on 192600
  8. What spec is the vibra technics rear mount? (Road, race etc)
  9. Just MOT'd my VR today, only covered 1800 miles this year. No intention of selling it,at least until the project Corrado is on the road.
  10. Dammit, missed this. Is the exhaust still for sale?
  11. A work colleague fitted some of those to his Mk.2 Golf 16v, could never seem to make them look factory with the routing. He rarely brings it out so getting a pic is difficult.
  12. So who was the guy in the black K(?)plate Corrado who stopped and chatted very very briefly in the middle of Cotgrave this morning? Had I had more time, would've pulled over...
  13. Let me know if the Miltek doesn't sell, am also Nottingham based so collection no problem.
  14. VR6 Storm, N666DEL, headed down along the A52 towards Clifton Bridge tonight. I was behind you in my old VW Beetle
  15. Beemer is one of the last 635's made in March1989 and registered later that year. Had it many years now although I don't use it that often. Lovely thing to just waft around in though. Insured the Beetle yesterday with RH, just £64 for the year :-)

    radio whistling

Quite often you can do this on the head units wiring harness rather than cutting about the original cars loom. On most modern head units, the red and yellow power input wires are simply joined together and then connected to the permanent live connection on the vehicles power plug. A multimeter will confirm which connection on the plug this is.
  17. I have 3 on my policy with RH Insurance, Corrado is £157, BMW 635CSi comes in at £143 and the old Polo is just £93. Will be adding a classic Beetle to that soon.

    Top mounts

Lemforder stuff is quality, never had a problem with their stuff.
  19. Have you tried re synching the fob to the alarm? Scorpion alarms have a habit of going out of sync, caught me out a couple of times but It's easy to do. This applies to fobs with two buttons. Firstly, hold down both buttons on the fob until the light stops flashing(approx 10 secs), then press down the small button (approx 2 secs I think, been a while), then press the large button and the alarm should then work as normal.
  20. Still available, offers invited, but no longer need a Corrado project though...
  21. Yep, old Beemers go through suspension bushes fairly regularly. Already done the fronts on my old E24 6 series, the rears probably due in the next couple of years. That is a whole lot of car for the money though...
  22. Stanford Hall always a good show, been going to it since 1982, although in the last 4 years I've worked there as the company that I work for has a trade stand. The trade stands are mainly of an air cooled VW nature but there's plenty to see with the club stands and concours. Worth the drive out...
  23. Brown is usually an earth, black/yellow is normally an X contact supply(ignition live unless the starter motor is cranking) No idea what the plug is for though, not delved into either of my cars that far just yet(except the heater matrix on the Storm)

    radio whistling

I had a whistle on my storm after fitting a head unit to it shortly after I bought it. The wiring was plugged directly into the factory fit plug, everything worked as it should but the whistling was there. I have since rewired the ignition live feed on the plug so it's a permanent live so I don't have to have the keys in the ignition when using the radio and the whistling has since disappeared.
