i fitted my kit. and painted the whole car red white and blue, valvoline colours. i'll dig out a pic . . .
-
them numberplates used to baffle me. but the "1" means 2001, and the "5" means halfway through the year. intresting to see what happens in 2010 . . . .
-
dont they just check the reg plate against the records at dvla?
-
^^^ good looking out there!

i worked on an old skoda once, helping a mate change a "kingpin" or something like that. it was "G" plate, but it still had a "horse and cart" chassis. the new skoda's are on the whole dope cars, best of which being the top Octavia models. and their comedy prices mean that soon (if not already) they will be project builder's dream. buy a mk1 golf 1100, a low mileage octavia rs . . . . .

its not law, its just the further point away from the driver's line of site. i asked a copper once about this. he said "if it is somewhere obscure, you could get pulled because it wasnt seen at first. ok your tax may be up to date, but you could get a producer . . . . but there is not a law stating where it should go, so long as it can be seen." nowhere is more visible than at the front, in the middle, at the top.

i dont know where all you UK based C drivers put your road tax, but here's what i do: mine is laminated and stuck (with double sided tape) to the back of the rear view mirror (so it faces outwards!!!!!) i have NOTHING AT ALL on my windscreen. no stickers. no "giant road tax holder with space for a credit card" none of that. there is no law on where the road tax should go, so long as it is "displayed clearly on the vehicle to which it relates"

uncanny! in 1992 i was driving a x-packed mk2 escort!!!! i liked it. but i must have looked like a right chav
-
where's the resistor pack located? mine has only ever worked on 4, since i bought it over 2 years ago
-
3 digit speed in 3rd though . . . .
-
s'all good though. a small price to pay for the honour of driving the best!
-
12 months tax? hotdamn i havent bought 12 months in one go since i rode a motorbike . . .
-
corrado door handles anyone? still, if you want the best, you have to pay. budget motoring can be found at the ford KA showroom . . . .
-
my tax is up this month. its not fair. i have a big engine, therefore i use more fuel, and pay more in tax through fuel. so why should i have to pay more road tax? dont talk to me about pollution. my car has a CAT. yet i have to pay more tax than an old 1984 1100cc fiesta that is pumping out enough fumes to kill a small city. damn. i also i have to try and find my MOT cert. [/rant] :D

i remember these things from way back. they give you like a 15mm or so drop. at the time (this was in 1997) they were advertised for mk1 golfs theoretically they should work so long as they are strong enough for the weight of the vr6 front end suck 'em and see!
-
i have never overtaken a corrado!!! out of respect. oh wait that said, i played "tit for tat" with an indentical C to mine on the M6 one time. he'd overtake me . . . i'd pop it into 3rd . . . overtake him . . . he'd pop it into 3rd . . . etc. s'all good.

word. i've never gone any bigger than 15" on my golfs / corrado. but the C i saw with the TT rims looked s w e e t also saw one somewhere with Audi 5 spoke rims on. they looked good too. its the cost of the tyres that crucifies me. i can safely afford good NEW 15" tyres. but i have mates who run 17"s on their cars and they are buying sh1tty part worns etc. tyres are pretty important - seeing as that is the contact between you and the road. maybe i am just old. i remember when 15" rims were HUGE on a mk1 golf.
-
i'd like to get some audi tt rims (the older ones). i saw some on a C in stafford not too long ago. do they just go on without any arch-rolling/mods?
-
the cold winter air sure makes for a fast ride ride to work!!!! if anyone else is making the run from Stafford to Eccleshall in the morning (and again in the evening) i'm the black blur of a corrado sailing past you . . . .
-
i still have the standard 15 x 6.5 speedlines (5 spoke) on my CVR6. they are getting a bit tatty looking. i need a new set. but i dont want to put bigger wheels on it, because i think it will slow it down / have a detremental affect on the ride, just for the sake of looks. is this the case? now i am not a "tiny wheel" fan, but i do think that the 15"ers on the car are pretty well suited.
-
if the head gasket had a leak, it could gather moisture in the cylinder while cold, then it all tightens up and seals when warm? or if it were a fuel pressure / fuel leak issue, once the car has been run for a while the pressure builds back up? maybe.
-
it would be a good buy. especially at the right price. the engine should be sweet. you could always convert it to manual later.
-
i got into my c through the boot the other day, when my passenger side door handle broke (the drivers side broke a few weeks before) it aint much fun. and i aint that nimble.
-
you can go wrong with toyo proxes they are 55 quid each fitted on my standard 15" rims and they last a good 4 or 5 months
-
good advice there! i have used pipe grips on mine in the past (and on other cars) but then i havent ever had a real "sticker"
