Situated at the end of Gelderd road - on the left as you approach Leeds. Phone them first though - they're usually booked well in advance.

-Neil-, Laser alignment will set both.

Another G60 HELP request! Start and idle problems!
stevemac replied to Tempest's topic in Engine Bay
Sounds good to me Jim/Eric. Like I said, the only weekend that I'm busy at the mo is this coming one. Just let me know a few days before you're coming & I'll organise myself at this end. -
Mine's in the piccy below - no idea on measurements though. I'll measure it tomorrow, if I remember.

I don't even have a spare wheel in the car . :nono: I'll just phone the breakdown company if I get a flat.

JBOB, Your car needs "Laser aligning". This uses equipment which attaches to the wheel centres & can be used on almost any vehicle. Places that will have this type of equipment are - larger body repair centres & some specialist wheel/tyre fitters. There are several body repair centres in Leeds that will have the correct equipment. Last had mine done at a VW specialist here in Birmingham, which happened to have this rather expensive laser equipment.

g60bv, So far as I'm aware - side repeaters are a legal requirement in the UK.

Is it legal to mix directional and non-directional tyres?
stevemac replied to aclwalker's topic in Drivetrain
Mr.Ots, The problem is when you have one facing the right way & one facing the wrong way on the same axle. I have tried this (by accident) for a couple of weeks & the results weren't good. Grip in corners was all over the place. FYI - I was also using Eagle F1 (GSD3's). The problem becomes worse when different manufacturers tyres are used on the same axle. The casings are made slightly differently between manufacturers & have different handling charachteristics. -

Tempest, You're always welcome at my house Eric. I'll be busy with another G60 engine rebuild/install next weekend but I'll be free the weekend after. I have a fully working G60 here (mine) - we could swap a few bits & hopefully get to the bottom of your running problems. -
g-dub, Yours could possibly be explained/caused by the cam & cam advance settings that you're using ?

As above - legal but VERY inadvisable, unless in an emergency & at lowish speeds. -
Mine started blowing oil within 180 miles, had to get the thing rebuilt again (elsewhere - at my expense) AFAIK - mine may have been a one-off, he generally seems to have a good reputation.

Does the engine have any running problems - does it idle okay, rev okay, etc ?
-
JT-G60, As has been said the "steady cruising" mpg will have little or no difference. The difference will be that your driving style is likely to alter slightly. You'll want to use the extra power, drive the car a little harder than you used to. It's this change in driving style that will increase you fuel usage. FYI - overall, I now average around 18-20mpg . (even though the MFA still says around 28mpg)

Tempest, If you want to borrow a good FPR to test, I can lend you mine if you like ? -
Many "Chav" accessory shops also stock wide ranges of mesh.

U definitely have a problem of some kind - G60's should pass MOT quite easily, even with the CAT removed. My G60 has had the CAT removed & passed it's last MOT while running on 3 cylinders. joeyg60 - go to http://www.snstuning.com & check out the DIY section. There's lots of info there that may help.

Deffo worth getting the camber checked.
-
Worth noting that the 2 (2pin) connectors are under the gear lever panel on Corrado's.

CAT wouldn't cause overfuelling but the Lambda probe might

Daz has a fairly good reputation on here . 8)

Remove the knock sensor from the engine block & re-torque it down. Can't remember the exact torque setting - something like 12Nm from memory. If it's too tight, it'll be too sensitive - too slack, not sensitive enough. Also check the wiring - often wears if it's been cabletied in place.

Not quite m8 - Beru make the OE leads. Top quality & I wouldn't use anything else. raypau - if you get the leads from GSF, be sure to specify that you want the Beru leads. We stock leads from several manufacturers but Beru are by far the best.

My Eagle F1's are great in the wet - not too good in the snow though. For a set of Winter specific tyres, I'd get some quality mud & snow (M&S) tyres.

Excess oil will exit the engine by the "point of least resistance" - weak oil seals usually go first, possibly even your head gasket (if you're unlucky). Really depends how much overfilled the oil was/is. BTW - excess oil pressure in the charger could be real bad news. Carbon build-up on the plugs is fairly even so I doubt an individual injector will be the problem.
