oh yes, the old ying and yang. It's sods law, as soon as I polish that baby up (car) it won't start, so I just let it be dirty, probably keeps the thieves at bay aswell.

Tell me more about Honda Prelude 2.2 VTECs..

was thinking about that Alfa the other day as it happens, I know it has had a bit of stick over the handling but I think that engine more than makes up for it. Also totally not the same car but I am quite liking those Honda Accord 3.0 V6's as a mile mucher. -
Looks much more involving than something like skyline, wish they dropped that kind of engine into an elise.

Top 10 dearest cars/regions mechanics

blimey, £20 an hour sounds cheap! That list is for the most expensive, any ideas about the cheapest? I have no faith in these big dealerships, I have always taken my cars to a 3 man band style garage and find that much better. And apparently, you northerners have a higher standard of living so might have to move up there! -
Anyone ever considered a TDi engine conversion?

I have always been interested in this idea. Perhaps the answer would be to add the DSG. I think to do it, you would have to be a real enthusiast tho because financially it doesn't work out, and I drive 500 miles a week in a VR. I'm not so sure I love reving the nuts off my car, wo's to say the extra torque of a diesel doesn't compensate for not being able to rev so high? But if I were looking at a quick diesel, go get an Ibiza 160 or 330d and remap it and then you will feel the force of the dark side, lol. -

You don't have to take the engine out to change the chains on the Fiat, and can be done for £400. I would have to agree with the s14a, it's not really an out and out performance car as was mentioned, it's actually very refined not to mention tuneable. I'm in two minds with the fiat, vfm it is still very good, you can't deny that, it is slightly quicker in a straight line than a vr but then everyone says the vr has slightly better handling, but the fiat can be taken up to 260bhp very easily so swings and round abouts. I think the prelude is a good car but not as involving as the VR. I went in one and thought it was pretty good, but the power is spread over more revs so as was said, you won't get that shove in the back like in a VR. I also think that S2K is a cracker despite the love it or hate it attitude adopted by most people. 239bhp out of n/a 2.0, can't think of any other cars that can beat that bhp per litre, sort out the exhaust, air filter and a hondata and it will be a little rocket. My choice would be 1)VR 2)S14A 3)20VT Fiat 4)Prelude -
lol, how ironic they should turn a chavy calibra into that! Didn't realise they had that same chevy v8 up to 11.5 litres! thats crazy, probably needs a rebuild about every 100 miles. Have seen a hayabusa turbo bike that will probably beat that on the 1/4 mile tho.

thats the one, haven't seen it in ages. The "cyclists" are also funny.

ha! I'm outa here within 5 years tops. Any of U.S,CANADA, OZ OR NEW NEW ZEALAND. Has anyone seen monkey dust? "I am the pedo-file catcher!"

oh dear, I get the local paper, think it's called news shopper, they are like a local version of the daily mail! ffs! People always tell me bromley is going down hill and out to see for that matter, but serious crime is on the up, that is a fact. Maybe it is because the population is growing so therefore there are more people and more scumbags. But why does my old man always go on about how he could leave the front door open for days and stuff like that, lol.
-
holy moly, what has he done to that engine? Kind of reminds me what it's like on gt4 when I soup up the skyline to 1000bhp! lol.

so sorry to hear that dude. Do you have comp cover? not that it's any consolation. I would have a good mind to do a vinny jones and stick there tie in the window and take that baby up to about 70mph! Slamming his head to f**k in the door would be a bit harsh, or am I getting soft in my old age?

I used to work for the Evening Standard whcih is owned by Associated News who own the Daily Mail (same building) My nann buys it religiously and if you met her you would understand why, they do come out with a load of old tosh, but thats what sells unfortunatley. I also don't like that the daily mail seem to be very judgemental, like there on the moral high ground all the time, er nah! I wouldn't buy the express either. Quite frankly, I would rather the sport if it came down to it! At the risk of sounding stupid, what does fecestious mean, and how do you pronounce it, if you can type that.
-
nah, my opinions would probably make the Daily Mail look like a bunch of loony lefties!
-
Sorry, my mistake, they have been there for a very long time indeed, but it used to be in small numbers, then the next thing you know, theres about fifty huge caravans there! Then they have about 50 dogs running around the place and s****ing everywhere! There are still a couple of burnt out cars there! lol. They are living it up, sky television and all mod cons, but they don't pay jack s**t! And they fly tip around all the lanes. Yea, don't park your car in ramsden, they will either vandalise it, nick the wheels, hot wire it, or sifen the petrol out!
-
I know, for months people have been putting pressure on police and council to move the gypsies off of the star lane site and they did nothing for so long. They were there for a good year paying sod all and left the place in a tip, nice!
-
I agree, I was being a bit harsh saying pikey's. I think this pair were from the ramsden side and not star lane.

A usual relaxing Sunday for me, I live on the edge of town where there is countryside on one side and houses on the other. Whenever I go for a walk round the fields, I can always hear bikes and sometimes see kids driving them, but this happens all over the country. Anyway, I hear a 2 stroke motorbike outside my flat, so go to investigate and see to kids, about 17, very skinny with no plates on the bike. I knew they were up to no good, next thing I know, one of them jumps on the bike with a stereo in his hand!! He will probably only sell it for £20 if that! So I phoned the old bill because this kind of thing relly winds me up. I'm so glad he didn't try it with my or my gf's car because I am a passive person but I would of hurt him bad. I don't know if it is just me, but I think crime is on the up unfortunatley.

I got the vr insured for £800 tpft at 24 with 2 yrs ncb with Adrian flux. Some companies do insist on tpft/fully comp and will not charge much more than tpo. A friend of mine is a insurance broker and has guaranteed he will beat any deal I get next time so will post when it happens for you guys too. Anyone got the link to that thread that was put up a few months back with the best post codes for insurance? I'm going to buy my little bro who is 17 soon a Seicento for about £800, insurance group one so should get a pretty good deal.

Nearly a 'rado owner........Focus RS anyone??
samm_cvr6 replied to Incredibilios's topic in General Car Chat
I'll swap my vr too! I know a lot of people slag off the rs but I think it's cool and no doubt it would beat a vr round a track, but I guess that doesn't make it better. -
true, thinking about it now, I would say that maybe 50% of joe public blokes don't know what a lsd is (apart from the drug!)
-
maybe the offside rule?

mines on 137k and original chains (I think) Can't agree more tho, I always let it warm right up aswell before reving it aswell as change oil about every 4k. good motorway cruiser aswell. at 70 you should get a good 35mpg if she running well. -
Have also seen CTR's (driven well) do low 14s at the pod, and if I am not mistaken the VR is quoted as 15.2 so very little in it, it is a drivers car tho, and the gearshift is brilliant once you get the hang of it. Not bad for a n/a 4pot lawn moer. Personally I would also rather a leon 225 and would have that up to 280bhp no probs. But it is also quite possible to get the lighter ctr up to 240bhp while keeping n/a. Hondata, gruppe m, spoon exhaust and manifold.
