Morning all, I've just bought myself a Pug 205 TD for my daily commute of 50 miles and was wondering if I could use bio-diesel to run it as it seems to be 20% cheaper than pump derv? Anybody tried this or use anything else? I heard you can also use second hand fat from chippies (sieved of course ;) )? I suspect that I could run my Pug on ditch water so I doubt it needs to be all that refined.

You may want to start with using some punctuation and capital letters as your post is very hard to follow. ;) There is no specific suchandsuch a mod = xBHP gain. 0.8bar seems a bit low. You may well have a boost leak so check all your boost circuit and try the old half and half Fairy liquid and water around joins. The old wing mount intercooler may be damaged.

Ditto the comments about the new hoops. Very cool. I have to say I'm glad you ditched the Voodoo's. Engine bay looks nice too, those twin airbox jobbies look the biz.

First up I’d take it to someone who knows their G60’s for a check over before you even think about getting some more power out of it. Make sure you’ve got a sound “base” before modifying. Also make sure your brakes and suspension are up to scratch. When that’s all “ticked off” I’d go for oil cooler (often overlooked), SNS chip, 68mm pulley, exhaust, manifold. That should net you about 15 horses and a load more torque. Then some brakes and sort the suspension. Have a search through previous threads too as this kind of thing has been discussed at length

When Huets did the install in my corrado they used "Rok Straps" which are uber strong elasticated straps with a quick release buckle. Screw one end in the sub box and the other onto the body somewhere and hey presto, no sub movement: http://www.rokstraps.com/speakerbox.html

Whatever you get make sure it's got a flexi join to help prevent the manifold cracking :)

high performance clutch needed... which one to get?

...and that's about 250bhp at the wheels I believe? -
As bubbles worked their way through my engine I checked the expansion tank every couple of days for a week or so and had to top it up a bit each time (200ml each time perhaps). Then it was fine and the level hasn't gone down since.

Yup, I was quoted £95 all in (postage, machining and balancing) for my 200sx flywheel.
-
There are machinists in this country which can take your old flywheel or an exchange and machine and balance it for you. I found a few places on google a while back.

The locking key from Halfords is only somthing which enables you to do them up tighter than finger tight. The thinking being that chavs couldn't undo them by hand. However, doing them up tighter than finger tight risks ripping the valve out of the tube. Also, the brass sleeves in the Halfords one comes unstuck from the fancy alloy shiny bit. They are in other words, utter pony. The Fancy outer bit also split on mine and became all tarnished with all the road salt and grime. You can get stainless steel ones which are a bit neater than the plastic ones and they're very cheap.

I found that stuffing the box made no difference to the sound my sub made. The main thing is that it's screwed, glued and sealed up nice. Looks very tidy :)

I always found ultimate stopping power was fine in my G60 but you do get the dead pedal feeling, as though it's taking up slack somewhere in the first 80% of the pedal stroke. Still I didn't have blown VR pushing nearly a bar of boost ;)

The S14a has thicker 280mm discs with 4 pots and ABS so they're gonna be a bit better. They're also about 10 years more advanced in design that the VW ones ;-) My SX brakes are better than my 280mm G60 brakes but that's to be expected.

Like yellow snow, I'd avoid all things EBC. I had the "turbo-groove" (Max Power name says it all really) discs with Green pads and they were a lot worse than standard. This was on a 6N Polo too. The pads took ages to warm up and overheated very easily. Also, the discs warped and had to be machined true. I had Pagids on my old G60 and they were good, marginally better than standard. Quite cheap too from GSF. EDIT: The Pagids were dusty though which was a pain on BBS wheels

WICKED! I always hankered after one of those. I had a Vanquish when I was small.

Some oil in the charger is fine although if you're in any doubt get it down to Darren or give him a call.
-
Just make sure the engine is strong with no problems as NOS will very quickly show up any weaknesses. Personally, putting nitrous on a 163,000m VR which hasn't been rebuilt might be a bridge too far. Just my opinion though.

It's JMR (John Mitchell Racing) ;)

Those Aeromax's were designed by a placement student working at Morgan as well. Stunning cars.

An oil cooler would be a boring but nonetheless good idea if you don't have one....
-
Definitely. I watched Darren do mine. Fitting took half an hour, setting up took about an hour of fitting the wideband and adjusting the timing and then taking it out for a spin. (That was an SNS chip fit too)

Call 'em on 01273 430533 and ask for Peter as he's been managing the Hove place for ages :)
