    NO GRIP!

I got a big bolt stuck in one of my Toyo's last night :(
  3. I had it too with my front calipers, the garage I took it to used a breaker bar about 3 feet long and he really had to haul on it.
  4. They may well have CCTV in the car park, I'd give' em a ring and see.
  5. Dunno, maybe call Darren as he's probably got a better idea.
  6. I know it's called OEM+ but I still don't geddit. VW do own 20% of Porsche but parts commonality between modern VWs and Porsche's is zero. You don't see many Posche drivers putting VW wheels onto their car which makes me think it's a "prestige" thing when it's done the other way round. Why don't we put Skoda or Seat wheel onto our cars? g-man: Your Passat looks awesome (bit cleaner in that pick than when I saw it ;)) but there really is parts commonality between Audi and VW: engines, floorplans etc. Just don't get the Porsche thing.
  7. Welcome to VAG prices. You probably should have taken the opportunity to get a stainless aftermarket one which'll never rust.
  8. Wheel looks good, but I've never really got the whole putting Porsche wheels on a VW thing. I can't stop looking at the other pic though. It's hypnotic :luvlove:
  9. That's the worst thing you can do for a car. If you actually drive the car to warm it up it'll warm up quicker than if it's just idleing plus you'll have the "bonus" of actually travelling somewhere whilst the car chews through the petrol when it's cold. You're best off just driving it gently from the moment you turn the key. :)

    NO GRIP!

Well by law of averages at least once in my life I had to be right about something. I was hoping it was going to be lottery numbers, but what the hell.. I hate to add to the "What tyre" discussion by mentioning a tyre brand, but I'm getting some new 17's tomorrow with Hankook rubber.... Looks like as I'm dropping the suspension 40mm as well I'm gonna need my alignment done. So.... where should I get this done. VW quoted me about £280 for 4 wheel alignment. Although that was a compare price as I doubt I'd let them near my car.... but it's a high price. So anybody know somewhere near Southend that can do this without ripping my arm off in the process.[/quote:0246b] £280!   Try Elite, they're in Essex. I think their site is http://www.elitedirect.com or something I had mine done at Littlehapmton Tyres for about £40!
  11. My G60 takes about 6 miles of gentle driving to get to 80 degrees oil temp. No probs :)

    Bar-Tek

I can't recommend the SNS chips enough. The difference between my Jabba chip and the SNS one which Darren fitted is like night and day. They always said that the G60 was meant to feel like a large capacity n/a engine and now with the instantaneous power delivery with the SNS, it actually does!
  13. Brett, I'm pretty sure there's a decent metal fabricators behind the Halfords in Tonbridge which is in Kent. It's down a road called Cannon Lane but apart from that you may need to do some digging around to find the name of it if you were interested!
  14. Looks really nice, are those aftermarket boost tubes routed to a stock intercooler?
  15. Your throttle issues sound like a sticky throttle cable. I've just had a new one fitted (albeit to a G60) but it's made a lot of difference. In time water ingresses up the cable and it causes the sleeve liner of the cable outer to come out and go sticky.
  16. And I get to see it at Le Mans !! :joker2:
  17. I've used GT85 on loads of my electrics, just to keep the water out apart from anything and coat it in Teflon for protection. It's really good stuff that I always use of my bikes. However, on electric motors you can use stuff that electric RC car enthusiasts use to clean their motors which effectively strips out all the dust which accumilates as the brushes in the motor rub on the commutator. It's really volatile so evaporates very quickly and leaves no residue at all and will strip out all lubricant in bearings etc. Type in "motor cleaner" into the search box on this site: http://www.modelsinmotion.co.uk/categor ... tamiya=273
  18. Would it be worthwhile to buy it off the ins company and break it yourself, sell off some bits to forum members?
  19. Mine's aftermarket too. I've had a play (press and hold "f" on my h/u) and the screen says "DX seek" which sounds positive. Gotta wait until I go a bit further afield than my usual 20 mile commute!
  20. Nice looking engine bay there alan_edwards. I like the sprayed up alternator cover. Is that hard to do? (I've got some VW primer and paint kicking around somewhere!)
  21. I just hope that they don't get bought by pikey footballers who can't drive properly and Middle Eastern oil barons who will keep them hermatically sealed in a garage. That car needs to be driven; ideally by me.
  22. The compression ratio is lower on the G60 lump meaning that unboosted, it makes much less power than the Gti 8v lump.

    How fast

I bet that's not very nice to drive though :?: [subliminal message]BUY ANOTHER G60[/subliminal message]
