I see the Autotech cams provide peak power at 6300rpm, is that similar with the Schimmels?
-
Brilliant, exactly what we needed to hear! Thanks. :)

New series of TOP GEAR Sundays. Series Comments

I thought it was brilliant, seriously one of the best episodes I've ever seen. Can't wait for next week! :D -
Totally agree, chamois leathers are fine as long as you keep them rinsed obviously.
-
Yes I like them too, they're like semi deep-dish big speedlines!
-
Of course that will happen mate, you're trying to make the engine rotate slower than it would at idle by using the engine as a brake. You shouldn't be in gear at that rpm, of course the isv is going to want to speed things up a bit. :)
-
Can anyone identify these please, and give me a rough idea of their value? They're in 17 inch flavour. :)
-
Definately never heard of or noticed this, not in 100k miles of driving VR6s.
-
I hit 140000 yesterday, thought that was getting on a bit! Still on original, clutch, chains etc. :)

You need to do a compression test before diagnosing a head gasket problem, mayo can be caused by other things.

Hello, The noise just sounds like a constant whirring/buzzing it doesn't vary. Lisa

Hello it is Lisa here (Andy's other half) My VR6 fuel pump is noisey, I can hear it buzzing away constantly! Does this mean it is likely to fail imminently or continue to function for years to come? How much would it be for a new one? Cheers Lisa

Standard all the way, I've only done one mod to mine that has improved the car without a compromise elsewhere. That's the big bore throttlebody. The suspension has improved the handling but at the expense of the ride quality, the exhaust sounds good but its not as quiet as the original, the BMC is good but can be annoying! etc etc. I really fancy an original one. I had a Pug 205 GTi for 6 years and it was totally original, easily the best car I've owned, just kept in A1 original condition.
-
I think mine might be overdue then, 140,000 miles, no running issues!
-
It is indeed ^

Time for leg surgery I think, I'll give it a go and put the whole system in but.....I just don't know if I can live with that level of awkwardness. It was pretty pants before, what with the long doors and low seat height. I am very long legged and have pretty big feet too! Ho hum :)

I've just fitted my audioscape pods, I can't believe how difficult it is to get in and out of the car now. Anyone got any tips, I thought I was going to have to call for a crane last night when someone parked next to me (not particularly close either) at Sainsburys. I'm hoping I won't have to pull them out before I even get the drivers in them :(
-
Not that bad really, my best ones look like that, she's still going strong on 140k miles.

Ok, I'd like to start by saying i'm not an anorak/spotter or anything else vaguely similar....... How many clicks do you have on your headrests (tilt adjustment). I have 3 on my drivers one, 2 on the passenger one. I thought that was a bit wierd. Until...... My girlfriend got a Corrado, same again, 3 on the drivers one, 2 on the passenger one. We bought a spare set of front seats, same again. I'm thinking how strange to have different spec headrests left and right. Today I'm out in Peppyuks Corrado, same year/spec as mine and he has 4 clicks on each. Have I been sold short? Is there an upgrade available? How many do Storms have? Perhaps this explains the extra perceived value :dorky:

I stuck mine up with high strength spray adhesive and it fell down again in months. Ended up replacing it with a good one. The foam breaks down between the cardboard and the material and when you re glue it you are just gluing the material back to foam that has already started to break down. It won't last.... :?
-
Red (VR6?) A3 and A325(Bordon turnoff). Reg B16 VRC.
-
Yes indeed, I bought a set of them but after about 25 hours of trying to separate the backing material from the mirror to reveal the sticky bit, without destroying the mirror itself, I got bored and sold them. Its a real shame because they were sooooo much better than the standard mirrors.
-
:confused4: What do you mean? Do you mean the water getting behind the glass issue you can have, or something else? I mean the fact that they are so heavily magnified, I like to see whats arround me as well as behind me. The Corrado ones show about half of one lane at best. In good nick, they are still the worst mirrors I've ever experienced on any car costing any amount of money. When I come down a slip road, I can check the door mirrors and easily not see a massive articulated lorry or two, until I check over my shoulder. My Mk3 VR6 Golf was the same year as the Corrado and had very good mirrors. Bizarre. Easily the worst feature of an otherwise fantastic car. Shame. :confused4:
-
It does look daft imo, however I think the original mirror glass is about as much use as no mirrors at all, absolutely dangerously bad.
-
Do you mind me asking how much they were? (Assuming they were new)
