Quality work, looks awful though, so high for the length!

Right, the hose kit I have is post 95 Golf VR6 and the front hoses don't have banjo fittings. Is this the wrong kit? Or wrong kit contents? :-(

Ron the fairy? hmmm

Cool comments guys. I drove it down a pretty rough lane on the test drive and there wasn't a squeak or rattle from anywhere. More than I can say for the rado! I've been doing some research, am I right in thinking it will be digifant? From what I've read there doesn't seem to be many worthwhile mods, merely making sure its running peachy. Will get some photos up after its had the treatment!

I'm about to upgrade the rado brakes to 288s, will my old 280s fit on the golf? That could be handy!

I've had the Corrado off the road for a few months to do, rear bushes, sunroof etc. Its nearly done but I've decided to change my daily driver to a Mk 2 Golf GTi from the Renault Clio 1.2 (feeeel the power) I've been using. I can't wait! Its only the 8V version but I've always fancied one, there is something about Mk2s I reckon. Its 16 years old but really good nick, only 76000 miles (less than 5k a year from new) barely a stone chip on the bonnet. 3rd owner at the mo, (very fussy old chap with a mint Mk1 convertible). Hope its charms don't drag me away from the Corrado. Anyone else into Mk2s?
-
Mk means mark. Basically the same as version, i.e Mk1 Golf was early/mid 1980s, Mk2 Golf was mid 1980s to early 1990s. Mk5 Golf is the recent one , Mk6 will be out soon.

Just bung another engine in, quick, simple and cheapest. Thats all anyone who buys it as a project will do. I made £3k in 3 weeks doing that last year.
-
Totally agree, £1300 is ridiculous. Get another quote mate. Parts are only about £100, £1200 is a lot of labour.

I bled my ABS system with the ignition off, I think its only the American ones that need the ignition on, hence why it says ignition on in the Bentley Manual.
-
Did my system with ABS the other week with an eazibleed, no major problems, bleeding the master cylinder is what sorted my pedal out.
-
Hmm. Cheers Chaps, I've got Golf Mk3 Carriers and 288 TT Calipers so I might be alright without spacers then.
-
Anyone know if Audi TT 288mm calipers are the same as Golf 288mm Calipers. Also do Golf 288mm Calipers use banjo type fittings?
-
Very nice mate. :-) Wish my bodywork was that good, nice wheels/brakes too.
-
I wouldn't worry in the slightest, there will be filters at every stage of their system, not to mention your own fuel filter.
-
Nice one Dutch, watching this one with interest...I can see me doing this one day. :-)
-
Sounds logical to me.

Almost finished re-installing my rear beam after re-bushing etc. In the Bentley manual it describes a procedure using 2 pry bars before tightening the main beam bolts. Anyone done this or is it really necessary. I've got the car in its normal position back on its wheels and am tempted to just torque them up but don't want to ruin anything.
-
Yep that's what it is, VR6s are the same...virtually.
-
Thats a cable guide for your abs cable.
-
Or under a tenner each from GSF, probably not as good but certainly not as expensive!
-
Very nice, not sure about the parking in the second shot though! :-)
-
Yes they do, my previous car, a Golf had one and it was very good, kept the inside of the windscreen clean for ages compared with the Corrado.

There is a new guy in there, young bloke, he's ok but the rest of them..... Chichester, Petersfield and Hedge End are much better, but a bit further out of the way for me.
