My engine died a death today at Oulton and due to not having any breakdown recovery memberships its likely to cost me a fortune to get my car trailored home, so im thinking of getting it fixed down there so I can simply get a bus down and drive home. Due to not been local though I dont know any garages in the area at all, so any recommendations appreciated. Cheers

The graphs above where it doesnt cross over at 5250 are easily axplained by the fact the torque and power curves are being measured on a different scale.
-
Yup, been on there a few times.

Which gearbox for G60 ?? - MK3 GTi 16V or G60 / VR6 hybrid
Joe M replied to BigTartanJudge's topic in Drivetrain
The engines on the 16v's are different, im fairly certain the gearboxes are too with the golf one having longer ratios. -

At the same time you dont want to use nearly new tyres as the blocks are so big they squirm a lot causing the tyre to overheat quickly and they literally get torn apart. What track are you going to? Its always worth trying to watch a few vids first as well to get a general idea of where your going.

Lotta-lotta hassle had with VR6 topmounts onto 2.016v - Help
Joe M replied to scabbyscala's topic in Drivetrain
I could be wrong here but I think the its normal for the spring seat to slide down the damper, its the spring that holds it in place when fitted. Pretty sure its like that on my Konis anyway. -
More info here: http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19202 Ive seen a vid and it looks like a great track, but im with Andrew in that weve been spoiled with open pit lanes at Knockhill, 6 10minute passes for £150 is a bit steep.

Cool, what kit did you get?
-
You sure the leak isnt from the sump and running down the gearbox?

Heres a word doc I made up a while ago using info from various websites: http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/download.php?id=6131

Early distributor model golf 2.8 vr6.

AMD's page says the insert prices start at £47
-
Engine moves even less and it never needs inserts replacing.
-
Dont know on the total cost, but have you considered a solid front engine mount? Would likely cost about the same as a VT insert.
-
Worse news is the manifold, though ok for use with a charger doesnt do much. Only about 10lb/ft in the midrange from some graphs I seen instead of the 30 you get normally aspirated.
-
Im pretty sure if you go supercharged the 268 cams will need to come back out trebor.

Some gaffer tape should do the job nicely.
-
Now ive got my speakers on it doesnt sound like its struggling either.

Was just about to suggest the same, this problem came up with someone else a few months back. OT, but, is the rotation on your front tyres the correct way round?
