  1. we will just pass it around :-) Who else wants a turn with the r32 engine then? lol I spent last night binding up all the wiring in the engine bay, Next job is to sort out the coolant pipes, then I will be making some custom lower front strut braces up to fix to my rad support. I am going to finish the engine bay completely before I start on the interior wiring clean up and alarm install.
  2. if its a K jet have you tried replacing that little black ignition module? Them little bastards can cause allsorts of trouble! It will cost you next to nowt to test it, just get one of any mk2 golf from a scrappy, and swap it over. at least it will be another thing ruled out. My mk1 behaved in a similar fashion, and that was the culprit.
  3. just phoned greenlight 697 quid with a 500 excess. do you think thats fair?
  4. thanks chaps, and no I havent tried greenlight, I might try them now.
  5. aprrantly the top half is but the bottom half only fits the cats that it was intended for ie. 2.8 downpipe only fit 2.8 cats, r32 to r32 etc.
  6. Jeez Timmy you have done an absolutely cracking job on your bike mate!!! I wish I could paint like that
  7. ok here are the latest pics. This is as it was tonight when ready to run. Need to get it all vag commed and stop those errors. spoiling things
  8. yours is miles better than that. but then again I am not a fan of any major cosmetic mods on the corrado
  9. I have tried so far: Adrian Flux: 801 quid HIC: 1035 quid Brentcare: 935 quid Thats the big three Then I tried heritage on classic insurance, he wouldnt quote me but said it would be between 400 and 500 quid, which is more acceptable. Then I tried Footman James, and they came in at 600 quid. I verbally attacked one of telephone gonks and demanded to why the premiums were so high, considering I know people with charged VRs with higher outputs getting insured for 475 quid fully comp and used every day?! Their reply was this. "Its because of the engine you have put in, because its an R32 we have to insure it as an R32, and they are expensive" what a pile of tosh. Funnily enough the next quote I got I never mentioned the words R32, instead said its now a 3.2 engine, and the quote when from a grand to 600 quid..... robbing w*nk*rs I tell ya, if I cant get the insurance costs down then I will sell the thing and build a kit car. My mate has a lotus seven and it will accelerate every bit as hard as my car, is more than likely not as safe, and has more chance of spinning off, yet his insurance is 186 quid, and thats with a bigger mileage allowance than I asked for!!!! grrrrrr....... :(
  10. i am having a nightmare tryning to get a decent insurance quote. I cant get anything for less than a grand :(
  11. pics tonight mate. yes i have sorted the 4wd controller out, I am going to use the mk4 abs/esp/4wd controller like jay has. only mine will have something to control.
  12. balls. Just got a quote from Brentcare for 900 quid to insure my car. That is ridiculous.
  13. dont get too excited chaps, I just found this on the very same site. "Vehicles fitted with a different engine: Test according to which is older, engine or vehicle. e.g. A 1995 car fitted with a 1991 engine (of whatever make), test to 1991 standards for emission purposes. Note: The onus is on the vehicle presenter to prove engine age."
  14. what about white? http://www.20vsyncro.co.uk/my_corrado.htm theres some white ones on there
  15. Mr H is keen to go out for a blast in your car, we were talking about it last night.
  16. its only the 21st Jay - chill out lol  Alas its true, I may have to put back my launch date  I blame the ever evolving final design thats caused the delays. Actually no I blame you for making me think I didnt need 4wd lol
  17. it all depends on whether the tester is just going off what it says on the log book.
  18. hello - quick update. Completed the wiring of the R32 today and fired it up with no problems 8) Its fecking loud with no exhaust on it though! Ben, I will have some pics up tomorrow. I picked the red corrado up in Lowstoft just south of great yarmouth. What a treck it was too! So now I am onto connected the rest of the front of the car up and moving onwards to that 4wd system we have talked about so much :-)
  19. if it passes, then it passes simple as that. I have heard that it goes on the manufacture date of the car not the registration plate. I mean if a car is built in march 92 and stands around for a while before getting registered and it doesnt have a cat on it, then its going to get penalised. yes?
  20. My corrado is (or was) a 92' K plate VR6, I am trying to find out whether or not I need a cat for the MOT. Anyone got any ideas? I would be ace if I didnt need one.
  21. Not a good idea, it would stiffen it right up. you could do that and a do away with your anti roll bar as a counter measure but its a bit risky and you are taking chances.
