A statement on Nugget Yellow Numbers by E-Bay Seller
Walesy replied to RallyRaddo's topic in General Car Chat
I read somewhere that there were 25 UK Nugget G60's, I think a lot of these figures are made up tbh! - Over the years i'm sure i've seen more than 25 different Nugget G60's for sale (including my own!) You would have thought that the figures for how many of each colour sold would be available really. -

Standard Ebay bullmud mate, not true in the slightest. -
Dunno, but seeing as you've already got a thread in the members gallery with these pics in I spose this thread is a bit pointless  I'll lock this one - Here's the gallery thread - viewtopic.php?f=11&t=72922

Looks awesome, much better than before 8)

£60 an hour  - I moan about paying £30 an hour down here! Glad you found somewhere though, decent garages are worth their weight in gold.

Gah, what a nightmare :( - I very narrowly missed a terrible accident in this way with one of my 8v's, if it hadn't have been caught by another car it would have ended up rolling off a huge cliff onto a crowded beach/restaurant which could have been catastrophic It's one of those things that will only happen to you once, you'll not forget to leave your car in gear again! I have to admit though, I did smirk a bit at the story (i.e you being caught out in your burlesque gear  )

Can't say i've ever heard of them Mr Owl, I assume they're only up North?
-
They recommended that is was replaced at around 90k miles rather than serviced. Its awesome to hear stories like that though, there's a huge amount of hysteria regarding G60's when they're really a fantastic engine.
-
That sounds absolutely awesome :) I dont think there's many places that you could have that whole list done, I would have thought that you'll need to have the mechanical work done at one place, the paintwork at another, and the interior work (dash install etc) at another. I think The Phirm have a paintshop and would be able to do the mechanical stuff, not sure if they're any good though? Moving to suppliers forum..

Ha! Rubbish. I've never heard of a VR breaking down due to the injection system. I think he was talking in relation to the 2.0 16v rather than the VR6 Personally, my opinion only (so please don't flame me  ), I think that is not the way to look at it. VR6's are expensive to fix, but I wouldn't say it was any worse than any of the other models I disagree, loads of parts are more expensive for the VR6 than they are for the 4 cylinder models, they're definitely a more expensive car to own IMO

Yeah, the 80's was a strange era and Maggie still has a lot to answer for! As someone else has said, the 'right to buy' was very short sighted and has a lot to do with the mess we're in now as well as credit becoming the norm - people's expectations are far higher and the desire to keep up with the Jones' and have the latest fad has steered thousands of people into debt. My dad was very much of the school of thought that if you haven't got the cash in your pocket to buy something then you can't afford it, he'd save for years to buy the stuff he wanted but would never use credit to be able to have things sooner. It always makes me laugh when I see those adverts on the TV for sofas or widescreen tellys etc 'BUY NOW BUT PAY NOTHING UNTILL 2010!' It's unbelievable that it convinces people to go out and buy something that they cant afford with a 'ah well, we'll worry about how we're going to pay for it when the time comes' attitude. By the time they have to start paying for it it'll be knackered and they'll not want it any more, plus they could well be in a worse financial situation than they are now  :cuckoo: Like I said, I think on the whole we all have our part to play in how we've ended up in a mess, there are exceptions to that but far too many people just blame the banks/government when it's their own greed and short sightedness that's got them into difficulties :gag: Regards Wayalzee :|

Fantastic, cheers for the pics!
-
 - it doesn't bother me, it just confuses me how many people do it - there must be some sort of sub-concious reason

P.S - Does anyone know why it is that EVERYBODY spells my username Walsey instead of Walesy? :confused4:

I dont live actually in Newquay, I live a few miles away so I get the best of both worlds  Plus the 'dregs' all congregate at the same places, you avoid going to those places like the plague for 6-7 weeks through the season and they're all quiet and yours to enjoy through the other 45 weeks of the year - plus there's loads of nice spots that most people dont know about, there's quite a few beaches/woodlands/moors etc that have no signposting for tourists so they stay peaceful even in the summer 8) Where I live wouldn't suit everyone, i've got mates that love coming to stay with me but would never want to live here - it's horses for courses but my point isn't that 'where I live is great,' its that if you're not happy where you're living then move but don't just assume that moving somewhere different will answer all your prayers and be perfect in every way because 9/10 it isn't the case :confused4:
-
Or as bad as you already have made it!
-
I cant even think of one personally, let alone ten! I absolutely love where I live and genuinely wouldn't prefer to be anywhere else in the world - and if that wasn't the case i'd do something about it, life's too short to spend living somewhere that you hate! There are a lot of things that we take for granted in the UK IMO, its not perfect but I don't think that anywhere in the world is.
-
The grass isn't always greener though! I've lost count of the amount of people that i've heard saying that they're just going to move abroad to a utopia type place where wages are sky high and the cost of living is low, no crime exists and the weather is perfect all year round, in reality it's not quite as simple as that. Obviously the big players have had a lot to do with the mess we're in, but you can't just blame the government or the banks if you're in the sch1tt - those that have taken 125% mortgages to buy their £180k piddly little starter homes, or those who've gone and bought 20 new builds with buy-to-let mortgages should really have been able to see this coming. I think it's a case of buckling down, living within your means and seeing the next couple of years through, things had to reach this point so that the economy could correct itself. I think the media are doing their usual thing of making things seem worse than they are.

Gotta agree, im really starting to warm to it

Purple VR6 on Ebay - Can anyone on here offer help?
Walesy replied to Pete's topic in General Car Chat
Yep, that's because a lot of them have had scrapes/bumps as they're all at least 13 years old, there's also not many C's out there with such a high price tag so my point is that for £5.5K you should expect to be buying one of the rados around without any rust, they do exist (i've had plenty ) The OP wants to buy a minter and has the budget to buy one, so he shouldn't make any exceptions IMO, especially regarding bodywork/rust. -

Rust isn't an indication of mileage, but it is a sign of poor accident repair - for that sort of money i'd want absolutely no rust at all. -

I would walk away personally, rust isn't a good sign and neither is the fact that he's not mentioned it before now. Again, for the money he's asking the car needs to be in absolute MINT condition regardless of how many miles are on the clock. -
Remove the cover (the plastic bit you push to sound the horn) by prising it off with a flathead screwdriver, once it's off check that its still connected properly, it's possible that a wire's come loose.

I have to agree, it's a lot of money for a Corrado these days and although it has nice low mileage it needs to be in MINT condition to be worth near that amount. The advert is hardly comprehensive so i'd want to know much more before making the journey to collect it, it looks in good condition and has low mileage but unless its got masses of service history to show that all the perishable parts have been replaced (with quality parts) recently it could still cost a lot of money to get it to drive like a £6k Corrado should. I'd be wary as with any 2nd hand car purchase, especially on Ebay! but that's not to say it's not a good car! I'll move this into the general section where it might get more attention, it'd be nice if someone on here has any more info for you.
