very true............but it all depends on how its been treated over those 78k miles........as all engines no matter how well engineered/strong will expire more rapidly if neglected and/or abused
-
anybody see top gear on sunday?...........brought a lump to my throat :(  when they showed the argument for the Ur-quattro being the greatest car of all time
-
by the sounds of it you could well just have a dodgy sensor in the expansion tank............and if it was your oil temp guage(on the mfa comp) reading 120 then thats ok for a VR6 on a motorway......if it was the water temp guage then again its not too worrying as they are prone for reading a bit OTT........the one main worry i would have is the fact that you have only water and no coolant in the cooling system......apart from as joe M rightly says it increases the boiling point of water........it also has corrosion inhibitors in it and can stop the waterways "furring" up......apart from the potential cooling probs it can cause it also points too less than "careful" maintainence........best thing to do is to get your garage to flush thru the coolant sytem a few times and then re-fill it only with VW's own brand coolant(not the cheapest but probably the best for the VR6 engine).....i think its only G-12+ thats available now.........if you get either G-11 or G-12 then these can't be mixed with each other though both can be mixed with the G-12+ coolant

spot on joe its only one bolt  as for the early C's having heated seats in them.....tbh......i'm not really sure........i reckon they didn't........but could well be wrong :? i think a lot of ppl who retro-fit them into earlier Corrado's aren't bothered too much about having a toasty derriere and also as i mentioned previously the replacement csots involved with the heating pads could well make it a luxury they feel isn't justified
-
no need to apologise jim
-
its ok james i wasn't slating them........they do look as we say up here in bonnie scotland...."nae bad min"......its just they aren't to my personal(warped) taste
-
biggrim only Corrado's with factory-fitted leather had the heated seats  ...... joe M i think its maybe only the revised/facelifted dashboard C's that might have the wiring loom already in place.........and as biggrim's one is the pre-facelifted model then i reckon he would have to buy the loom from VW not 100% sure tho....... but one thing might be an idea to do is for biggrim to come over to you and for you to both take your respective seats out(only takes about 5-10 mins per seat) to test that biggrim's heating pads still work........as these cost over £100 per side to replace
-
yeah i know jim........i'm sure that john has them on his C too
-
i'm a fan of this 16valver too jim 8) ............fingers-crossed that james gets his black G-60 and you get a chance of this one nice colour and very subtly done mods........though my only reservation would be the calibra side-skirts......but thats just my personal taste and isn't a reflection on either james's or john's(16vg60)styling ideas

What the hell are you on about, this car is no normal car. well according to his ad its standard engine-wise(though he does have an induction kit and exhaust) and only the brakes and suspension have been modded........so with all the extra weight of the ICE and body-bits its not going to exactly set the world on fire..............and unless he starts putting in bids himself its pretty obvious that no-one in their right mind is going to bid also fair point its no normal car..........but then again he's no normal guy.....   HE'S A MUPPET!

sure i read somewhere that its shell that produce the oil that VW sell under the quantum brand name :?
-
NNOOOOO     ...........is he having a laugh or something????????? then again it was picked as being in the top100 cars at max-power live  .......so it must be special   i wouldn't pay £15k for any Corrado these days even for a mega low mile storm or campaign
-
sorry VR Zen don't know actual prices(think approx £500-ish or just over) but best getting it done by either jabba or ???pit-stop developments????......have a look at other threads on the forum about getting the charger re-built for a better idea of who's the best place for getting it done.......or ask john(16vg60) or darren(8vg60) for their recommendations here's a wee link to a thread with some discussion on it regarding the charger http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=2382

C'mon all you C 8-valve owners where are you???
vr6storm replied to vr6storm's topic in General Car Chat
well according to the poll we have finally got our first 8-valve Corrado-owner(btw....all you G-60 owners don't count).........so come on then own up...who owns one???........and welcome to the forum........you might just have the second most rarest of all Corrado's here........jeremy is obviously first.......and i suppose nigel's jet isn't exactly common either -
GTI International pics :D **NOW FIXED** [56k Beware!]
vr6storm replied to joebloggsVR69's topic in Members Gallery
it certainly is.......looks well nice in the flesh too.....u just got to love the bbs rx's and the blackberry vr6 Corrado with the reg N164 CWG........is Bill Aitken's absolute minter.......probably one of my favourite C's of all times -
snap his hand off!!..........if it is genuine miles then £1500 is a steal.........ok you'll have to replace a door skin and some paint and get the g-lader rebuilt but on most g-60's you'd have to have the charger done anyway......but if you budget for £3k(inc purchase)then you'll have one hell of a nice G-60 8) with most of the bits(if not all)sorted

here you go kev  http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=1966

joe you already had a modded airbox in your vr6 btw....paul had it done just a couple of months before you bought it.........
-
or a "cheap as chips" option joe fit AtE power grooves.......i felt an improvement over the standard VW discs(still had easy a year left in them btw) when i had mine fitted and they are only £55-ish(+vat) per pair from Euro-car-parts...........and of course AtE are an O/E supplier to VW.......also FYI any brake modification you make has to be notified to your insurer....as they will take your brake mod as a sign that you will be more enthusiastic with your driving and could well charge you quite a bit extra...whereas the power-grooves are seemingly "insurance-friendly"and shouldn't attract any increase in premium
-
just a few things off the top of my head   distributor cap/rotor arm........as yours is a 93K-plate it should have a distributor what fuel you using?.........if 95ron U/L try super U/L or optimax......and has the fuel filter been changed recently? lambda probe/sensor giving up the ghost are you using the correct spark plugs?..........NGK's are seemingly the only ones that can cope with the heat the vr6 engine generates hth

here's a link to a thread that might have the info you need http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/viewto ... ght=matrix

as tweakable as the 1.8 20v T is ......they are getting a bit too common also had a wee spin in jill_g60's b/f's Golf limited and was well impressed with 16v g-lader power

Reputable wheel refurbishers in Scotland / N England?
vr6storm replied to Blown's topic in Suppliers Forum
Coat-tech coatings in carnoustie do a damn good job.........don't have their number or business address but they'll be in the yellow pages.........they also do various finishes -
Might be a long shot.. but it paid off :D Yep I took them all off and two of the dials (the heat and position) are identical and the other one has an extra notch on it that looks like it pushes the electrical contact round  I now have speeds 2,3 and 4 and I think I need to work on 1 as it's a bit dodgy, I probably bent the contact slightly... CHEERS! :D :salute: Happy to help..........though to be honest just remembered someone else on the forum had the same problem a few months ago and thats how they sorted it
