Looking at your C's reflection while driving...
vr6storm replied to stormseeker's topic in General Car Chat
guilty as charged on both counts  1)looking at talent whilst driving a VW Corrado 2)looking at VW Corrado in nice shiny reflective windows 8) -
It's a sad sad day when you cant trust a specialist!!!!!!
vr6storm replied to Banana Man's topic in Archive
yeah i was thinking that too chris............ant unless you've already tried speaking to john regarding this and not had any positive feedback from him this is maybe not the proper way to try and resolve this matter.....afterall this could be damaging to john's future business........if as you've said you have spent over £1k with him and there has been a noticable performance loss then you should give him the opportunity of either fixing the problem himself or refunding some of your money or paying for somebody else to fix it whatever happens i hope it gets resolved amicably -
whats louder than a Miltec or Magnex ehaust for a VR6?
vr6storm replied to Rams's topic in Engine Bay
hehehe.........well of course its a lot bigger than that wee pea-shooter that you have..... LOL anyway i bought mine from star-performance in glenrothes and had it fitted by them too(they're scottish agents for Milltek btw)after recieving lots of recomendations from knowledgable people and yes its should fit the g-60 too........skid has the same system that i have......though it might be an idea to quote your chassis number to star before ordering as there is a wee difference in the mounting brackets -

here's a couple of pics of what the milltek looks like fitted to my C and another green storm -
8) nice kev mate..........so the burning question here.......is it a r/h/d Corrado or not????.......if it is then.........whoo-hoo wait til my 6 numbers come up........vince will be getting a call   LOL.........
-
well duncan if you want to........feel free to post his contact details and business address on this thread here:- http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=532 and if you can also give a brief description why you rate his services highly again
-
have to admit if i knew about the campaign Corrado's before buying my storm i think i would have maybe tried to seek out one of these elusive beasts.......i just love the interior they have imo its damn sexy 8) 8)
-
yeah.......but rams some unscruplous dealers will still try and charge you £20ea.........and insist that you need the platinum tipped ones too
-
well as autotek will be servicing it prior to you buying it,the oil should be nice and light brown looking and up to the level too as for things to maybe do......it might be worth asking if autotek will change the fuel filter and also see if they're willing to do a coolant change........but make sure that they use the VW coolant G12+ as this can be mixed with both VW's "old"G11 and G12 coolants whereas before if you mixed G11 and G12 it would form a gel and block the passageways i've had a fuel filter change and a coolant change done by a VW-dealer and its cost me £20 & £35 respectively(inc parts/labour/sundries)so autotek should be cheaper also might an idea to get them to change the spark plugs at the same time......whatever you do though.....DON'T pay what VW charge for VR6 spark plugs......they can charge up to £20ea!!!!!!  ........NGK's are OE/M and are easily obtainable from halfords for a fair bit less approx £5ea or under........NGK's also seem to be able to cope with the heat that the VR6 generates better than any others
-
also if you replace the rear discs....its worthwhile replacing the rear wheel bearings
-
the VR6 is only N/A(naturally aspirated)...........all these ones with turbo's and superchargers fitted are aftermarket additions as for which is best............well it depends what you want and have to spend .......also the turbo is harder(though don't know if its impossible or not)to fit in a r/h/d Corrado due to the position of the brake servo :(
-
 blimey that was some read there
-
kev mate, that has to be the toughest one yet............... Integrale takes the lead cos its meant to be just awesome for B-roads and its quite a mean-looker too then again the ur-quattro for its aggresive looks, awesome exhaust noise and how it re-wrote the rally book hmmmmm...............methinks we should call it a draw............one things for sure if my Lotto numbers came up both of them would be in my "dream" garage
-
Shhhhhh!!!.....paul grant might see this ......though i can still report back to him that your looking after his old baby no one was brave enough to go on the track with a Corrado  .....then again don't blame them......to say the track's a bit on the tight side is abit of an under-estimate  i think skid got a few piccies and i'm sure he'll have them posted up soon nice to see you again joe and ur cuz and of course graeme nice to put a face to a name :D

pretty sure the original VW exhaust is plain steel....though admittedly very good quality steel.....mine lasted from dec 1995 to sept 2002 and reckon i still would have had another 12months out of it....took the fitter about 30mins to saw thru it  ....only upgraded to my Milltek for cosmetic reasons and of course the deeper burble .....the milltek is a bit noisier than the O/E one but its a nice not-too deep burble and is very refined inside the cabin and at M-way speeds -
sorry to hear that Ross  ..........know the feeling only too well....had my BMW done 4years ago.....just outside my house  ......no alarm either so was it just glass damage and the theft or is there any other damage?? and i guess the police were really helpful too...........NOT!! :x
-
hehehe..........well i'm still speaking about storms....LOL
-
well my insurance company rate it as grp19 over the standard vr6's grp 18 now
-
AFAIK you can use an eaton kompressor from a mercedes too......and i think there are 1 or 2 others that can be fitted.....don't know about the vortech one......why do you ask??.........has your one expired or do you have a cunning plan??? or try this link for an aftermarket one that is a bit on the dear side and doesn't seem to give any gain on the standard G-lader http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=689

Very true AAIGHT.............as i've always said........your really paying quite a premium for a couple of badges and the special paintjob on the mystic blue storms it is very possible to get a non-storm VR6 with a higher spec for quite a bit less  and also the storm attracts a higher insurance rating...grp 19 over grp 18 :?

no comment im off to see the wizard the wonderful wizard of ........... some time this year i hope hmmmm let me see....would that be..............???????????????? BBS TSW OZ Mille miglia AZEV Still-auto give us more of a clue then nigel
-
my next door neighbour has it(well the smoothrite  ) on his scooby's(2.0 sport) front calipers and his rear drums in the blue colour.....he painted them last year and they still look good all he did was take the wheels off to do them after just hi-pressure hosing them clean....he didn't even use a wire brush or anything and it just took him about 30mins per corner(inc taking the wheel off and on)
-
yeah it was a "nae bad day oot loon!" nice bit of twisty road from jnct 12 to muirkirk too    get to feel the difference that my koni's have made to the handling........and it was pretty cool our quartet of Corrado's convoying down....just a pity we didn't manage to get to bothwell services on time to meet joeM and biggrim..... no names mentioned..ahem  and some nice motors there too.....my fave was keith keenan's immaculate green G-60 rallye 8) .........and just for a change Ron Kasner won a prize  then again not much wonder....... and it was good meeting up with jill_g60 and her Club-GTi(moray)posse again  :D
-
the only sure way to check if its a storm or not.....unlesss its mystic blue which is a storm only colour,is to ring VW's customer care quoting the VIN/chassis number and they will tell if it was sold as a storm and whereabout the original supplying dealer was........like jims16v and VR6 have both pointed out there is no mention of storm on the log-book and the grille should be colour-coded(also should only have the bottom slats open....unless been replaced by the open-slatted grille)all the "VR6" & "Corrado"badges should be chrome too and A/C is a dealer-fit option too and it will only be a storm if its built & registered from April95 onwards also the mystic blue ones only have the black leather interior and the classic green ones will only have the beige leather and most should still have the 15inch 6-spoke BBS "solitude" alloys
