  1. looks like damn fine parking too  8)
  2. one thing though if you do decide to go for it is......make sure its an ABV(2.9 VR) code engine as i'm pretty sure it would be all to easy for him to "accidentally" fit the AAA(2.8 VR) code engine........though maybe the ecu would also have to be replaced :? :? my gut reaction is to walk away.........if this has been an underlying problem before what other nasties might surface.....as this is maybe why it was traded in to autotek
  3. rigth wussel, the 1.8 16v was indeed replaced in 1992 by the 2.0 16v but in approx April-92 and was indeed fitted with the cat as standard, bhp was identical but the 2.0 16v had better torque though was fractionally slower in both 0-60 and top speed.........as for emissions without the cat i'm not too sure :? as it was for emissions reasons that the 1.8 16v was dropped and replaced by the 2.0 16v as for trim levels they'll be pretty much the same not a 100% on this but am pretty sure all 2.0 16v's should have E/W's and ABS whereas not all 1.8 16v's will have E/W...and i don't think ABS was available on the 1.8 16v especially early examples......... and the 1.8 16v is almost if not identical to the mk2 golf GTI 16v though it seems to have lost 3bhp over the golf :? as for facelifts.......there was an exterior facelift for the 92M/Y that all 2.0 16v's will have and thats the slightly different bumpers,flush-fit foglights/indicators,3-bar grille, estoril alloys, bigger fuel tank and VR6 bonnet and the interior facelift would be for the 93M/Y which comprises of the rotary heater controls, relocated E/W&E/M switches on new design door cards, revised dashboard and instruments thats all i can think off the top of my head
  4. true but at the same time its not exactly the best place to ask if a golf rallye induction kit's heatshield will fit a Corrado G-60 as i would imagine that there will be very few Corrado owners here that have owned a Golf rallye in the past and have swapped over the heatshield to their Corrado G-60...........as i said to rob i wasn't being funny........but jabbasport were only a phone call away and they would at least be able to confirm 100%
  5. also rams was it G-12+ coolant that was used after the head gasket work?........reason i ask is that if your VR had G-11 coolant prior to getting the head gasket work did the garage make sure that they COMPLETELY flush out all of the existing coolant(G-11)as G-11 and G-12 can not be mixed as it forms a gel-like gunge which can block waterways  .......confusingly enough tho its totally safe to mix the G-12+ with either G-11 or G-12 :? :?
  6. or GPC in luton
  7. not being funny here  but try phoning Jabba themselves and asking them if it will or won't
  8. erm... No... Fair enough, i heard more bad than good about them. Don't need too, Jim and i spoke about it before i bought my FK's and we talked about them in length when he was fitting them saying how happy he was with the kits and how he was thinking about distributing them. Being a Koni dealer im sure he'd of been happier if i'd bought the Koni's off him anyway! Like i'd already mentioned though, is the poor aftersales service at the mo as they are still quite new on the market it think (could be wrong) In 3 years time when my spring is inevitably going to break it may be a completely different story  I can take the chance tho cause im quite lucky to have a works van and a GF that can drive me about. The FK is a great kit, i can vouch for that. I didn't say the Koni kit was crap, id heard more bad points than good about it, so how would that make sense for me to buy them? Is the Koni kit better because it suits more than one application? The Koni adjustable dampers are probably the best you can get. Why make a set when you can supply the best. But suspension needs both good springs and dampers to make the right set-up for supreme handling. A car is better with specific spring rate settings just like its better with proper damper settings, hence why we buy fully adjustable kits, isn't it? i.e my car is set slightly higher at the rear and the dampers are set differently front to back for a perfect ride, i took a day or two to get this just right. once its set, thats it, you can fairly leave it after that. but would you buy a fully adjustable kit and not adjust it? if thats the case, you may as well buy lowering springs or a lowering kit. I'm not knocking Koni's, some people swear by them and they are definatly better than alot of kits out there, it's just there are two sides to each story i guess. If you think the kits are going to break and cant be off the road for long, pay more for the Konis. If you want to take the chance and expect them not to break when you pay good money, then you may aswell buy the FK's. The fact that the FK's also dont have dust caps may bother some people, but you could probably pick up a set for under 20 quid. Put it this way.even if someone offered me The Konis for £540, i'd still pick the FK's (I prefer the BLUE!!!!! LOL ) Just my opinion tho.[/quote:fee93] so what other FK specific part is there to the kit other than the springs then? :? ..........if its koni dampeners they use......afterall coilovers really comprise of a dampener and spring all in one  .......hence why the above statement i'm not saying that the FK kit is crap......what i am saying tho is if you part with £500+ of your hard earned you would want some sort of aftersales back up that doesn't leave your car off the road for more than a few days unlike the koni's which have an aftersales support 2nd to none and is therefore worth paying the premium for.........however if as you've said you've heard bad reports about the koni kit then why did you bother getting a kit that uses koni dampeners :?: i'm not saying the koni kit is better cos it suits more than one application......but its certainly not compromised one things for sure with all the road-salt they put down up here you'll be a fool for not getting and fitting dust caps/covers to yours.....if as you say you can pick them up for £20 per set
  9. you must have got too much sun biggrim    .............as the photo looks like its a mystic blue one to me.....mystic blue is a pearlescent so can "change" colour in certain lighting......from real bright purpley looking(sunny) too quite a dark looking blue(overcast) tho just cos its a blue Corrado and has black leather doesn't make it a storm either tho.......tho that one looks genuine enough to me(well going by the pic)
  10. how did you get on at Knockhill this afternoon then biggrim?......spoke to a old buddy with a seriously tidy mk4 GTI and he was telling me there were a few trade stands there too
  11. oh no.....stevie and his smell fetish again
  12. what rory advertising his VR6 by any chance
  13. so really all you have in essence is FK springs  ..........as for the koni's i bought the koni kit because i've heard a lot of good comments and reports about them and also more importantly their aftersales service is meant to be excellent.....not because i'm wanting to say i've "brand X" fitted.....don't believe me then ask jim curley at star-performance........ok you have the koni lifetime warranty(dampeners) on your FK's but if your springs were to go 3 years down the line.....ask yourself if FK will/would replace them as quick as koni have their reputation for replacing items dont get me wrong the FK kit is good value and is pretty decent but to say that the koni kit is crap just because one kit is listed for different applications doesn't make it inferior to the FK kit.....afterall the dampeners are good enough for FK to use
  14. or save up a bit more and get some Koni coil-overs   ............but if you are paying £550 your as well going for the FK's(koni-dampeners)......afterall very few people complain or have anything bad to say about them.........if your hearing all bad comments about the AVO's why consider buying them?....one thing to bear in mind too is the aftersales service/support....thats why i also went for my Koni's as i heard they have a real good back-up even if the kit has been on a car for a while
  15. and get some pics up on the forum of this meet 8) too james :!:
  16. ah well then you managed to destroy a 2.0 115bhp GTI then.....pretty sure the all silver-badged ones are the 2.0l's..........still ok not a ball of fire but they still have a nice torquey engine in them
  17. might have fancied it............but mucho skinto just now :( ......Mot and tax due the end of this month and all that  ..........so looks like you'll be the only C-F representative there biggrim
  18. well to be honest(and anoraky  )the mk4 golf GTI comes in 4 flavours at the moment 2.0 115bhp 1.8T 150bhp & 180bhp 1.9PD 150bhp and seemingly the only way to identify which is which is the colouring off the GTI badge
  19. mine developed a very strange noise at the start of this year too.....kind of like a noise made by squeezing an empty plastic drinks bottle.........turned out to be the lower dashboard trim warps with heat and fractionally interferes with the movement of the clutch pedal causing the noise whenever the clutch pedal is depressed and released............after weeks of driving me crazy it all of a sudden disappeared :?
  20. blimey scott!!!....is that letting your granny drive?.........i'm lucky to get 23mpg round town Really? - I find I can easily get 26mpg around town keeping the revs under 3k rpm... which I find is a brisk enough pace for town driving.... I constantly drive to Manchester which is 7 miles away and maintaining speeds between 20 - 50 mph all the way with some stop / starting I can see around 30-31mpg.... working it out from fuel cost and calculating it the trip seems very accurate too.......... I recently drove to London at a steady 75-80mph all the way and returned an average of 33mpg .... my figures are normally urban.........21-23mpg steady 80-85mph.......32-ish mpg as for 26mpg round town  ......my wife couldn't even manage that with our previous car(BMW 318ti.....1.8 16v 4cyl....140bhp)and she is one of the most "economic" driver's i know my round town figures are normally the drive to and from work(5miles each way)and a few short blats well into the 5k's......afterall you don't buy the VR6 for its economy ........maybe it is acheivable but it kind of defeats the purpose of having any Corrado let alone a VR6
  21. blimey scott!!!....is that letting your granny drive?.........i'm lucky to get 23mpg round town
  22. remember tho blown..............his celica is 4wd so has some transmission losses over yours..........tho tbh it all depends on who is the better driver
  23. well had the OMBRELLO treatment done to my windows about 2-3 weeks ago......and what happens?.......no rain since then  :? :) ..........til today and we had some very fine drizzle......but all i can say is that the OMBRELLO does work and is pretty impressive.......well worth doing
  24. TBH.......i aint got a clue :? what he's wanting for it  but as far as i can remember its been chipped and pullyed and the charger has been uprated too and if my memory is right its putting out something in the region of 187bhp+
