  1. hi charlie, welcome to the forum first off! :D £3k should get you something fairly decent too......though its worth paying a wee bit more to get the best you can........also be prepared to travel a bit further too.......good ones are getting a bit thin on the ground these days as they're pretty cheap and easy to tune into vr6-beaters  as for what to look for.........here's some from the tp of my head...in no order either:- 1)obviously check that the charger has had some attention to it,especially if it has been "chipped'n'pulley'd"......ideally if its near or over 100k it should have a reciept for at least one charger rebuild.....if not then budget approx £400+ for one asap......... 2)with all timing belted engines i would check that its had a timing belt change recently too 3)if its got abs(some 92 models).....check that the warning light goes out just after starting 4)check all the electrics work.....especially the sunroof(make sure it tilts and slides with no sort of stickiness) 5)make sure its had regular oil and filter changes and that the oil filter is a genuine VW one........as the VW one is i think the only one really suitable for the G-60 6)make sure the door handles function with no sort of stiffness......sure sign of them on their way out....£45ea from GPC or £60 ea from VW 7)the spoiler should raise when the car hits 45mph and lower when it slows down to under 10-12mph.....also it can be raised and lowered manually by a switch under the dash.....check this works 8)also check the heater controls work on all positions and settings........meant to be a bit of a pig of a job to fix a possible dash out job.......though some people have managed to fix with the dash in-situ 9)check the foglights aren't cracked....£55 ea from GPC... thats all fronm the top of my head........i'm sure the bulk of G-60 owners will be able to fill you in beter
  2. get yourself to star-performance in glenrothes and they can Rolling-Road tune it......cost approx £40 for the RR run and any other sundries needed

    My 16v

no Pau1 you've got a white fetish you mean  though to be honest alpine white is very nice but must be a pig to keep clean
  4. you'll also need to change the engine ecu as well....as its values will be for an auto remember.......and i don't know if the 6-speed g/box will fit in the Corrado engine bay
  5. i think i have heard of it.......just have'nt used it
  6. i use autoglym's leather cleaner and also their leather conditioner cream/food what to do is first use the cleaner to clean the dirt off the leather(i use a soft bristle nail brush to get into all the wee"folds/creases")then let it dry before applying the leather cream which you you then wipe off

    MY 95 VR6

well spotted jims16v some early VR6's did come with the same alloys as the campaign had, it was also the std alloy wheel for the early mk3 GTi 16v too...sorry anorak mode
  9. moved this to problems
  10. hmmm the bits that would be left about they would be what are known as spare parts and i'm pretty sure if VW didn't fit them into Corrado's they certainly wouldn't flush them or the money down the toilet afterall we are talking about just engines and charger and some running gear the likes of the 'charger would have been still manufactured well into the 90's as most if not all manufacturers have an obligation to keep manufacturing spare parts for a certain length of time after a model ceases production your words btw here "If you wanted a fast and comfortable sports car, would you want it to have the exact same engine as a hum drum family saloon?" again the Corrado VR6(ABV)engine was never fitted into any other british market VW..........as for a sports car i'm afraid much as i love mine and all other Corrado's......the Corrado ain't no sports car well not in the true defination of one....its more a sports coupe(even though its a hatchback) also i'm sorry brian but i'll decide what posts and threads i reply to so don't need you to tell me which ones to refrain from posting and if you can keep your insults to yourself........i don't particularly like it being implied by you that i should get a hobby and that i should CHILL-OUT.....i am pretty chilled til you come out with those remarks so in future if you want to insult me then do it to my face instead of your usual snidey remarks on the forum and well i'll leave it to the other moderators to let me know if i am setting a good or bad example to newbies
  11. brian again you have no idea are we speaking about golfs or Corrado's here cos i think you are a bit confused Corrado i'm pretty sure G-60 Corrado production ended in sept 1992.........Corrado VR6 production was round-a-bout April 1992.....almost 6 months of difference..... Golf mk2 golf's were still available purely because there would have been an over-production of them before they switched over to mk3 golf production and so there would have been unsold mk2's kicking about when mk3 golf's started appearing in showrooms as for a humdrum engine......LOL.........the vr6 has never really been called a humdrum engine and get your facts right again.......the Corrado 2.9 VR6(ABV) is a slightly different engine to the golf/passat/vento 2.8 VR6(AAA) also for your information the G-60 engine has also been used in the passat.....albeit in europe and as for your little coment afterwards you think this is my main thing in life chasing after your posts???sorry brian but your sadly mistaken i just don't like ppl who know very little about cars spouting off total crap as if they know what they are speaking about.........afterall we are in a democracy freedom of speech and all that.....
  12. not being a g-60 expert or even owner myself.........i do know however that if the 'charger has never been rebuilt before and has had a bit of tuning like a smaller pulley and and chip then its surely on borrowed time i would factor in the cost of a rebuild into it......don't know how expensive that is stateside but its under £500 sterling this side of the pond as for the auto to manual conversion.....providing all the parts are genuine and have been fitted properly then i can't see it being a problem......luckily for us brits the g-60 was never offered with the auto option over here(i think it was available in the rest of europe tho)
  13. LOL......then join up
  14. i'm afraid your wrong there  ......the VR6 Corrado was sold side by side with the G-60(albeit briefly) in fact for a few short months the Corrado line-up in 1992 was 2.0 16v........136bhp.......ins grp 15........£17193 1.8 G-60......160bhp.......ins grp 17........£18509 2.9 VR6.......190bhp.......ins grp 18........£19895 all taken from an Autocar issue dated 12/08/92 now if the VR6 was the G-60's direct replacement then i think they might have used the 2.8 golf/passat/vento 174bhp engine to make the difference not as major as 30bhp and also there is the £1300+ price differential not exactly the direct replacement is it the Corrado VR6 was mooted in around 1990/91 as a competitor to the forthcoming BMW E-36 6-cyl coupes........to try and tempt away the potential BMW customers VW felt it needed the refinement and power of the VR6 engine which although if tweaked a G-60 could have matched the power the refinement was something it lacked
  15. made this a sticky as it gives VWCCGB members some discount off
  16. apart from a G-60 Limited  8)
  17. i'll give it a go then mannie.....some of us take their C's out in the rain unlike certain red g-60 owners with their lock-ups and all that
  18. i actually prefer tornado red to flash red but here make up your own mind
  19. jim mate flash red is an actual uk-spec colour too........i think most 92 onwards C's that are red are actually flash red
  20. well your the man to ask.....after all you've had both
  21. well the main difference between the Cvr6(usa market) and the Cvr6 (europe) is the fact that the us market got the golf vr6 2.8L 174bhp engine (AAA code) i believe whereas europe got the 2.9L 190 bhp engine code ABV don't know much other than that regards the year differences over in the states
