very much doubt its got VR6 alloys on it as the 2.0 16v and all other Corrado's(apart from VR6's)have the 4-stud bolt pattern.......... as for price.....fair enough its had a lot spent on it but that was 14k miles and well over a year ago......but as its been sitting for approx a year or so not turning a wheel......there will be other things that could be soon away to give up the ghost.........also i'm assuming its also had a visit to a VW dealer since the head work being done at 96k.........if not then i would think its been neglected a bit if its sitting on 110k now thats about 4k miles over the service interval and like most other performance cars they should really have had at least an oil and filter changed in between services too......price-wise i wouldn't want to pay more than £3.5k for it providing the body/paint and interior haven't/aren't showing signs of being laid up for the length of time it has.......put it like this if he tries to p/ex it he'll be given bottom book value which could well be as low as £2-2.5k.....just my 2pence worth

don't know how much VW-dealers down your way charge but i have my storm get an annual inspection(complete with oil+filter change)done every Dec by the local VW-main dealer works, out round the £100-ish mark(plus cost of oil-which i supply to then) and keeps a stamp in the book....in between i get an oil+filter change and any other mechanical work done by people i trust to work on my storm............most people who are in the market for a Corrado or any hi-perfrormance car will nine times out of ten always put a great value on it having a full main-dealer history.....even tho the bulk of main-dealers haven't really got a clue on whats best for the Corrado(luckily all the times i've used specialist cars, aberdeen i have always noticed a difference afterwards and had no compalints over there servicing).......i keep my VW history up for the simple reason that if i ever needed to sell(which i don't intend to btw.....but if circumstances changed etc)then having the FVWSH will appeal to more people and therefore make it easier to sell just my 2pence worth

yip total agreement there.....autoglym cleaner followed by autoglym's leather food/conditioner

hi elliot, welcome to the forum m8,as for things to look for have alook at this link there's is som stuff to do with the engine but there is others just corrado specific http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=542 let us know how you get on,also as its a 95 VR6 that you'll be looking at you'll also have the coil-pack instead of the dizzy that your 92 VR6 golf would have had as for rusty rear wheelarches.........this is one i've never really seen or heard of......unless of course the arches have been rolled and not re-painted to accomadate bigger wheels and/or lowered suspension.....the only common bit that i've seen go rusty on most(not all) Corrado's is just under the o/s/f side repeater and on the leading edge of the same wheelarch........anywhere else is more than likely down to poorly repaired accident damage or stone chips left un-attended

The standard 0-60 time on a vr6 is 6.3s well to be honest VW state that the VR6's 0-100kmh(0-62mph)as being 6.9 seconds Autocar magazine tested a VR6 Corrado(29/04/92) the 0-60 time being 6.4 secs whilst EVO magazine tested one as being 6.2 secs as for the calibra 4x4 turbo Autocar tested one (15/07/92) and they managed a 0-60 time of 6.2 secs so really on paper the calibra 4x4 turbo has the edge :( on the road, well it just depends on the driver....remember we are talking 1/10ths of seconds here ...........but one thing is for sure it would be pretty close

this is my personal fave from the posting  "Hi Kev, You've got great taste - buying a Calibra and joining ClubCalibra! Welcome and enjoy the site. Belinda 16v Ecotec Automatic" LOL..............a slush-box and she's proud of it  but like jims16v has said they do seem to be an alright bunch so best we don't get too scathing of their motors..........afterall could be worse they could have Probes
-
though to be fair on him abit...........the calibra(imho) hasn't dated too badly compared to the likes of the ford probe or the 89-95 nissan 200sx to me the main drawback with the calibra is it shares the same dull as anything cavalier dash.........ok the Corrado does share same design as the passat dash too,but the passat dash is easier ten times better looking than the cavaliers one was and also they are getting to be sooo cheap to buy.......and imo cheaper to run than an equivalent Corrado........got an aquaintance who has a K-plate 8v with under 100k FVSH in the turquiose met just about un-marked paintwork and clean interior who only paid £1k for it from its 3rd owner this year
-
must admit i was totally against going for a green storm myself after seeing one for sale locally with a really dirty interior .....i too lusted after the mystic blue ones......still do in a way....just love the coal-pit interior of them...but i think the paint and beige interior of the green storms does give it a bit of more a luxurious air to it and it seems to make the cabin a bit less claustrophobic......but as you say it is alot harder to keep clean
-
 well he is entitiled to his own opinion of course  ........but hey we all know he's speaking dog poo

right guys, all you with BBS wheeled C's how about the finishing touch for them.........this has been mentioned a few times in the past on the yahoo-e-group btw instead of paying your friendly BBS dealer approx  £5 per valve cap  get along to your friendly Volvo-dealer....yes VOLVO and get the exact same for the......ok not cheap for a bit of plastic  ........the princely sum of £1.35ea really sets them off a treat.....even my solitudes anyway here is the part number for you:- volvo bbs valve covers part no:919 249 2.
-
i would also be aware to that some of the earlier C's won't actually "talk" to the VAG-COM software.....as ess_three hooked up his lap-top to dubster82's 91 G-60 and it wouldn't talk to it at all,yet it has "talked"to both mine and pau1's VR's even with both of them having different sockets
-
hmmm it could be that usrdave but i would maybe phone another VW-dealer's parts man and ask him for a cam.pos.sensor and if he can give you a part no too........as some of the parts ppl at VW don't have a clue and yet others are only too willing to help and are quite knowledgeable Nope - 190 at the flywheel. Someone who's been RR'd would be able to quote you an exact figure at the wheels, I would guess around 160 to 165 BHP ??? my best @the wheels power has been 150.5 bhp...........and the engine figure for that was 199.5bhp
-
spot on andi  ....i'd heard that VW haven't stated a replacement interval for the VR6's timing chain either also a lot of people replace the chain and tensioners while in the middle of an engine rebuild just as its just the cost of the chain and tensioners thats the extra cost....a bit like replacing a clutch when changing a g/box
-
no the difference is inside......the lip is just a styling difference afaik
-
yeah sounds like your cam.pos sensor is dead......about 15mins to fit and £35+vat from your VW-dealer if your C hasn't had the fault codes cleared after the rolling road session you'll have both your rear abs sensors flagged up too.............unless you do have a problem with the abs once these get cleared they should be ok........they get flagged up because the front wheels are turning and the rears a not
-
should get a wee bit of an improvement fuel wise(i get about 2mpg more round town)......the main thing you notice is that it pulls harder in each gear and is more drivable too
-
ignore the above quote andyg60 you should have a coil-pack instead of a dizzy
-
or you could also try stealth too.........i hear they're relatively close to AmD too..........and i'm sure Vince gets in more kr engined cars than AmD do now,as AmD seem to be concentrating on the more newer cars now, like TT's mini's and BMW's and the like
-
should be on the inside of the rear panel(well it is on UK cars).....if not its either had a rear panel replaced(not good) or some muppet of an owner has taken it off if there isn't one there, you should find one on the inside of the pass.side wing(sort of orange-ish colour sticker) as its on the driver's side wing on R/H/D
-
let you know hopefully by friday mate
-
you'll have to pay me first if you want me to dance for you  as yet nothing set in stone but looking like me,skid, paul allan, struan heading down in convoy...........but might be heading down with skid on the sat nite and staying over with jill_g60,matt and the elgin lot at the hotel they have booked and convoying with the C's shouldn't be a headache for you.......we won't be breaking the speed limit by much....not worth the hassle on the dundee road
-
yeah lanny's right road-trip time 8) ........if petrol was as cheap here as it is over on your side of the pond then distances would be no object to us over here......afterall a 1000 mile-odd(there and back) roadtrip over here cost us easy £100-£120 in fuel  :x ....it must cost you easily half that state-side so the only real problem for you guys is the time its going to take
-
very nice dave 8) .......
-
good seeing you all again....pity the weather was a bit.....wet  nice selection of vw's too...............stll can't get over my wee drive in Matt's G-60 Limited  8) ....very impressed by it anyway see you all again at Kames next week
-
yeah later handles are different(slightly)from early handles as they have a bit for the total closure sensor
