  1. Supercharged, have you bought a replacement fuel tank yet?........as Dovercourt have advertised NoS(new old stock  ) in this months VW-driver........they have this one that might interest you.......part no...867 201 075 G......Polo 82-90/91-94....lead free fuel tank...retail £186.00.......cost £41.29  contact them on 020 7924 7744 or mailto:[email protected] they also have part no.....535863463J6FV which is Bootlining-platinum.....scirocco,CORRADO 89-95......retail £163.00.....cost £36.68 all those prices are of course +vat
  2. and John Kerr is near the border too  so its not that bad a drive really
  3. well thats the VWCCGB scottish regional host's(john kerr) black G-60......tbh......i haven't seen it in the flesh as he also has a very nice nugget yellow G-60 too which he normally uses for all the meets and events.......but going by the standard he keeps the yellow one in i would imagine the black one is in good condition
  4. also i would say(depending on what you where after of course)....."be prepared to travel"....i was prepared to travel well into england when looking for a leathered up VR6.....and even travelled down to edinburgh......approx 120 miles+...... just to look over my green storm even tho i was really looking for a Corrado with black leather
  5. just like yesterday.......p/ex my pretty tidy looking BMW 318ti sport-pack compact 8) (complete with BBS split-rims and M-tech supension, lights etc) for it.........thought i would end up regretting it afterall i was paying £4k cash difference for a 6 month newer car.........but by the time i got to Dundee on the way home(went from aberdeen to edinburgh to pick mine up)it was a case of what BMW
  6. right if you want total refinement then its going to have to be the VR6 8)
  7. right ray.........you could be getting taken for a ride with the parts btw......here is the retail price for the water-pump-2.9i VR6 021121004X £29.65 and for the thermostat-2.9i VR6 075121113D £12.00 now if you were in the vwccgb you would also benefit from parts club prices which drop the prices down to £21.86 and £8.85 respectively NB these are all VW prices and are also + vat so unless they are also replacing the likes of the serpentine belt, coolant, and other sundries......which tbh is really best to do while doing the water-pump then the £120+vat looks ok if they are just replacing the water-pump and thermostat alone then you are being had
  8. good idea james  .....but i'll just move it into the common corrado questions section......though i'll make it a sticky
  9. here's the diagram i was on about.......and also some instructions for taking the radiator off
  10. by the looks of an exploded diagram i have.....the belt is on the radiator side of the fans and is so that the 2nd fan runs with the power of the first one as you first thought...........so really you have to try and take the fans off to put the belt back on
  11. VW also had a guage panel for fitting guages into for rhd and lhd applications.........this too is now discontinued and was even making silly money on e-bay last year and the start of this year
  12. AFAIK jims16v they're discontinued........but GPC did have them last year but in very limited quantities don't think they still have them now
  13. just so you can see what darren is speaking about

    My 16v

    8) looks very nice brando
  15. i was also under the impression that to get the best benefit out of fitting the VSR that you also need to get a pair of schrick cams and the ecu re-mapped for it all.........so your really looking at an additional.......£1k after finding a 2nd hand VSR
  16. could also be the aux.coolant pump leaking.......mine was leaking and was leaving wee puddles on the g/box last year.........luckily enough it was still covered by the warranty i got when i purchased the car........otherwise look at approx £114+vat for the part and under 1hour's labour fitting

    204 BHP V6

    4-valve head i suppose
  18. and all those nitrous bottles you'd use would cost a fortune too
  19. seems a bit cheap for a williams.......even if its the less desirable series2
  20. its not going to be impossible to get near 200bhp from the 16v.............just EXPENSIVE!!! if you pm apose_gill on this forum i'm sure he'll tell you the costs involved in getting his to near 200bhp(can't remember how much power he has tho) the thing with an AmD rechip is that your Corrado will be better to drive and pull harder.......and as you say is only £250+Vat

    Headlining

personally biggrim.....keep the existing headling and just change the plastics....tho bear in mind they can be expensive and hard to get........the carpet too i think is a bit on the dear side from VW(just for a change eh  :( ).........it all depends on how long you plan to keep it..........if its a "keeper" then by all means do it.......if you plan on changing in the next 2-3 years then its going to be a waste of time and money really

    Headlining

mine has the beige headlining...............but i'm sure they came in dark grey and light grey too
  23. its a close thing but the ur-quattro would just have the edge(std versus std)...and especially in the wet........well what i can remember of it............the one thing i've found tho is that the Corrado is the more affordable of the 2,given that they have near similar power(190bhp v 200bhp) at the end of the day they would both be gracing my "dream" garage if my 6 numbers came up

    VR6 OIL

i normally use the VW synta gold.......but at my last oil+filter change managed to pick up some esso ultron(normally sells for something silly at esso garages...£10 per litre  ) for real cheap and have that in mine just now.............i normally average approx 10k miles pa.........and get the oil+filter changed every 5k miles or 6 months whichever is sooner......since getting that in iv'e noticed my oil temps have come down a bit on long journeys 8).....as for useage i'm just about on 60k and had the oil+filter changed at 58k and in that time/miles i've used maybe 700ml's of the 1l bottle i bought for topping up........sounds alarming but its well within VW's tolerances which is roughly 1l per 1000km's
