Buying advice - puff of white exhaust smoke on down shift?!
vr6storm replied to rosswalker's topic in Engine Bay
under £3k tbh its going to need the engine apart to make ya happy tbh and Karmann interior is nothing more than standard unless its leather -
probably about £7-8K too much
-
well the dizzy cap/rotor arm are actually service items tho i'd thought they'd maybe last a bit longer than 2years...........did you buy genuine VAG/Bosch bits the last tiem tho??
-
and get yer brakes upgraded if you haven't done so already  seriously tho.........ive spent close on £2k(schrick,2 chips etc) trying to tune a n/a VR.....looking back and with hindsight that would have got me a fair bit more power going down the forced induction route..........like kev says its a no-brainer.............tho obviously check with yer insurance too

Buying advice - puff of white exhaust smoke on down shift?!
vr6storm replied to rosswalker's topic in Engine Bay
thing is tho.......if he's saying its not noticably blue then how would it be oil???...ive always know that .......oil burns light blue........coolant burns white.........too rich is black/dk grey........and water vapour is clear-ish steam.........it could also depend on how small a leak it is too surely.......but hey i'm no mechanic tbh .................... if its needing either the valve stems done or the HG done........i wouldn't walk away too quickly............perhaps a better bargaining point for a reduction in price.........provided of course that its not a sign of something more sinister........ie bores getting ovalised if it is burning oil -

it depends.........its probably the head gasket leaking coolant into the bores rather than into the oil..........check the expansion bottle for signs of contamination -

white smoke isn't oil btw...............its coolant being "burned" if it was oil there would be a noticable blue tinge to it -
by the looks of it the "highest" bidder is perhaps a mate bidding it up(unless of course it is yourself) if that list of bits has been fitted then i can't see why you should be too wary provided the price is right........it appears its been no expense spared looking after it...........the rev counter tho could be a costly thing to fix
-
depends how cheap it is and what condition the body/interior is too............there's a few 200k+ mile C's on here btw
-
have you checked yer coil pack yet????
-
you learn quickly Furkz
-
I believe so Furkz.............not 100% sure on this but i seem to remember reading that the Corrado G60 was off the market in N.America for a few months prior to the SLC being launched.......I think it wasn't a case of the G60 and SLC being available at the same time as in our market........where we still had the G60 available to buy as the VR6 was 1st launched.........so that in our market there was a bit of an overlap, hence why you get K-plated G60's and K-plated VR6's.......both with early interiors......
-
just the exterior...........all standard G60's have early interiors..........there's a few ppl here who put later interiors into early cars tho
-
i thought the IROC hadn't been passed for production yet tho?????
-
 ahhh in that case you've obviously wired them up wrong

What are my options with my Corrado? Sell? Convert?
vr6storm replied to _leon_'s topic in General Car Chat
if it was me..........i'd only be looking at option 1 or 2 obviously more biased to the VR...it might not be as tuneable as the 1.8 G60 lump but that soundtrack is worth having a slower car for -
they are probably assuming the Corrado was the skyrocket replacement
-
KPH don't count mate
-
not as fast as an Allegro tho
-
obviously getting the VR6 confused with the G60 there      ............*dons flamesuit*
-
well impressive figs Sam............struan had similar power but very poor torque......oh and a fair smokescreen too
-
its a mk2 Golf/Passat chassis/floorpan hybrid btw the only mk3 bit really involved is the plus suspension of the VR's
-
if you need a guide as to what is a fairly priced Corrado the best place to look is here rather than some "used" car price guide that doesn't take into consideration a cars cult status.........ppl here will soon enough tell you if a Corrado you have seen is over-priced/bang on the money/steal of the century.......yes you can pick up a Corrado VR6 for under £2k.........but it will bite back you big time with either a chequered history, expensive faults orwill be mega mega miles at the moment I think Corrado prices are fairly on the low side, they will however pick up in the next 2-3years
