i too like to keep up my storm's FVWSH.....well keep the book nicely stamped up........however to save being raped too badly by them i supply the oil and just get them to give it an annual inspection......usally works out to be the £100 mark(inc the oil i supply)...........then change the plugs myself(if needed) and get the oil changed 6 months/5k miles later

its a weird quirk of the RAC site that when it comes to the part of when a car was first reg'd it defaults to the 30/12/XXXX..............its only more recent "new" registrations that appear to have the actual date mine also says 30/12/XXXX yet mine was first reg'd 2/12/XXXX
-
iirc its only "supposedly" the VR6 thats ECU is reset after disconnecting the battery
-
what 80's quattro's or Audi 80's????????? :D
-
i'm liking these a lot too.........and i normally hate rice.............but when for the same money used 993's can be had or even leggy 996's not to mention Boxster S's.........i think the Porker's would call me too much
-
IIRC they were under 6 secs to 60   so methinks C VR6's would be trailing a bit
-
thanks for all the input and advice/info guys..............turned out it was just needing a new sensor as the other one was well goosed.............now back to fully working ABS and no constantly annoying orange light on the dash when i'm driving
-
You're not weird at all - both Phil K and I always used to do this on any of our cars that had manual windows! manual windows soooooo seventies......get with the eighties FFS :D
-
its the one on the themostat housing area that GOES to the instruments i mean
-
chubbybrown's missususss nugget yellow valver has keep-fit windows and no sunroof IIRC
-
you may as well try replacing the coolant temp sensor..........but be warned there are 2 of them on the VR6.....the one you need is the one that goes to the instruments......NOT the ECU one
-

nope Gruppe B 8) -
bigger brakes for example although theoretically making your car safer to brake etc........are heavily penalised by the insurance companies.......due to the fact that you'll brake later than with normal brakes so therefore make you a bigger risk.....likewise with lowered suspension as you'll be cornering at higher speed sthan with standard
-
would this also mean loss of ABS?.........cos when the light is on the car's braking is very errattic

ok here's the story had a minor water leak into the cabin a few weeks back  ........and the water was dripping nicely near the top of the ABS ECU-controller.....resulting in the ABS light coming on for a short while then acting as normal........got it VAG-COM'd and a massive list came up    .........so got this cleared....this was end of February......a few days ago the ABS light came back on.......got it VAG-COM'd again thinking that there would be a massive list again.......only for it to show just a front wheel sensor was flagged up........anyway decided to get the ECU-controller connection cleaned up as there was some green-furring round the contacts......re-fitted it and it wouldn't talk to or reset the light in VAG-COM so luckily managed to source a 2nd-hand(from a v v reliable and genuine source) got it all checked out and no faults came up even after driving for a few minutes afterwards with the VAG-COM attached........however today the ABS light has been off and on......from constantly on when starting to going thru its usual check then coming on within 10 minutes.........so would i be right in thinking that this might just be a faulty wheel sensor being intermittent??????(not got access to VAG-COM till next week you see) or do they go completely????......any ideas anyone?????

vr6storm replied to martyjmcfly's topic in General Car Chat
do exactly as the man says, this happend to my dad years ago and he didnt report it he just replaced the plates, turns out 4months after my dad had sold the car that the theif's had put them on a simular car and used it in a bank job and how did we find this out ,because the police came knocking at our door, lucky for my dad that he had sold the car befor the bank job and he was out of the country when it happend. ...................you didnt tell them he was ........flying out to Rio to meet Ronnie Biggs of course :D  :D -
i believe an ABS ECU controller from a Golf VR is compatible.....well according to the (pretty reliable)parts guy at my local $tealer.........as ive just needed to get one.......luckily for me.....a mate had one left-over from a 15k mile C that he was breaking a year or 2 back......especially considering they retail for............£540+VAT
-
might be an idea to go for a £10k one........and save yer £3k for keeping you're C..........sure as eggs is eggs and all that  :D
-
........then again Nissan(USA) started buying as many old 240/260Z's as they could get their hands on in the mid-90's and totally restored them to sell on again
-
it also depends on if the car has a dedicated club to the particular model of car..........for instance GTI's/XR's/RS's made after 83 would probably qualify.......i use Carole Nash for my 924 and thats on a 86 C-reg
-
sorry to spoil the party here.......but the car you have insured with Carole Nash cannot be your main car.............so you need to have another car insured at the same time
-
sorry guys,a whats it worth thread,1990 valver.
vr6storm replied to Riley's topic in General Car Chat
if its as genuine and un-molested as it sounds and looks in the pics i would happily pay over £2k for it -
