arrghhh!! I have been all over looking for this bleeding magazine! I've been to two asdas, a tesco, a morrisons and two local shops and still no joy :cry: I suppose I'll have to go into town at the weekend and find whsmiths!

I know how you feel, I've gone from 190bhp (VR) to 75bhp (diesel golf) It sucks!!

I've had a look in my haynes which covers J to R reg. It says 'On cars registered before Oct 94 when starting from cold, the engine idle speed could be raised manually by means of a cold start accelerator cable controlled via a knob on the fascia. From this date onwards, the cold start accelerator cable was replaced by an automatic idle boost actuator, mounted on the side of the injection pump. It should be noted that from 10/94 the fuel injection pump is equipped with an electronic self diagnosis and fault logging system. Problems with the systems operation should therefore be referred to a VAG dealer' .......meaning VAG will completely rip you off for something that is probably really simple to fix!!

Do the later mk3's have auto chokes then? Mine is only a k reg so an early one, think there is a little dinosaur in there and when I pull the choke out it pulls his tail and he gets angry and breathes fire on the glow plugs.

inch or two long scratch, deep enough to touch metal, is starting to rust now. What do I sand it with? Normal sandpaper? or is there some special sandpaper that I'm supposed to use?

I have some rust developing where I had a little disagreement with a low wall. Is there any temporary type stuff I can put on it just to stop the rust until we can afford to get it done properly??

I have just replaced the radiator on my golf and so had to take bumper etc off. Don't know if it's the same on a 'rado but on the golf there are some little screws that attach the bumper to the wheel arch, I had to take the front wheels off to get at them.

I know the VR is capable of more but I'm so scared of getting caught speeding that I normally bottle it about 100mph and ease off the accelerator!! I need my driving licence!!

what model corrado do you have? I think some things off a 16v golf will go on a 16v 'rado. What stud pattern are the alloys? I'm pretty sure that mk2 golfs are 4 stud, so the alloys would go on a valver or a g60 but if you have a VR6, they won't because they're 5 stud. I don't know about the suspension or the exhaust but I'm sure someone will.....

16v OMG, I didn't realise you paid that much :shock: is that tpft or comp? whomartyn can i annoy you even more and say that I pay £500 fully comp on my VR6? :wink: Seriously though, I remember what it's like to be young and try to get insurance, when I was 19 I had a 1.4 clio and was paying £800 ish and they're only a group five. Like dinkus said, even the smallest engined 'rado (the 1.8 valver) is a group 16 so it's going to be expensive. It all depends how much you want that 'rado!!!

some points are valid like lack of rear visibility and uncomfortable rear seats but 3/10 for ride quality ????
