  1. Same here, 20 minutes on foot (smiling at the d*mb motorists stuck in the traffic jams on my way in) each way. Saves money and nerves galore AND I do something for the environment (I think the government should reward me for that, IF they take the environment sooo serious - so I can spend the cash on my C :-) ). Tempest I wish you'd reword what you say sometimes Eric.. bear in mind that some of us dumb motorists don't have much choice. I could take the bus but I know for a fact that I beat that by well over 40 minutes in the car, and cycling 8 miles down choked A Roads in the lashing rain just isn't my idea of a good time :( Only other option is to move closer to work which I must admit keeps crossing my mind more frequently with each passing day. I live in a village in S Wales and work in a village on the outskirts of Bristol. The likelihood of there ever being any decent public transport that will get me to work in the 15 mins it takes me to drive is little to none!!
  2. about 12 miles each way to Bristol and back
  3. Yeah, would be quite cool but as Jim said a bit of a trek to get there!! lol, did anyone see the long way round with Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman?? It'd be a bit like that but with 'rados not bikes
  4. You are going to have to inform your insurer at some point so at least if you do it soon then they can take over and sort it all out for you (hopefully).
  5. same as everyone else really... 'is that the back to the future car?' chips away people called it a corolla (needless to say I didn't use them) complete blank looks when I tell people I have a corrado 'when are you going to buy a new/better car?' people call it a scirocco all the time but I don't really mind that, at least they know it's a VW!! But the thing that winds me up the most is people calling it black when it is dark burgundy :?
  6. Ok, cheers guys will check the fuel pumps. :)
  7. ok, so this morning with a full tank the car started no problem. Could it really be the fuel level?? Surely modern cars are designed a little better than that??
  8. There are quite a few female corrado owners on here and there seem to be more signing up all the time now. We are still a very small minority though, cars in general are a blokes thing, I think.
  9. Yeah only just started doing it at weekend and I had about 1/4 tank. I did think that it may be the fuel level but thought that cars would be designed a bit better than that!! I have filled car up today and will see whether it does it tomorrow morning
  10. I always drive forward onto drive (I'm lazy) so the front is higher than the back.
  11. Sorry I know it's not a corrado but could do with some help..... I've had a few problems starting my diesel golf but only when parked on the drive which is sloped. No problems at all when parked on the road. Is being parked on a slope likely to affect anything or is it just pure coincidence?
  12. How reliable can such as database be?? You're going to get people putting random numberplates in, people they don't like plus idiots putting their friends in as a joke :?
  13. I used to think the dark Burgundy ones were quite rare and then all of a sudden loads start popping up!
  14. I have this on my golf. The water light flashes some days, some days it doesn't. The water level is always fine. I keep an eye on the temp and that is always fine. Can't really be bothered to sort it out.
  15. I think if you are caught speeding then you should take the punishment that is given and not try to wriggle out of it. (BTW, I'm not getting on any moral high ground here because I have points for speeding. I was doing 36 in a 30, I got caught, I got fined and points on my licence and I fully accept that I was in the wrong and I begrudgingly accept my points)
  16. but I've just found this site and they say between 30-90 flash/min http://www.parkers.co.uk/guides/?guideid=0&section=42&page=52 :?:
  17. must flash 60 -120 times per minute apparently......have a look at this... http://www.ukmot.com/1-5.asp
  18. Hi Jen, welcome to the forum!
  19. I think with the whole drink driving thing is the reason that younger drivers get stopped more is not that the police are biased it because they drink to excess then try and drive and cause big crashes whereas middle aged people who drink drive ( and I know a few that do it regularly) only drink a few pints, they are still over the limit but not so they're going to cause a pile up! That may sound as if I'm defending older drink drivers but I'm not. I think as soon as you have even half a pint then you shouldn't get behind the wheel of a car. Plus drink driving is only one of the reasons that car insurance is soooo expensive for younger people, especially males.
  20. I pretty much agree with what Scarlett said. Most women drivers are useless but I don't count myself amongst them. None of my female friends know or care about cars and do not understand my obsession with 'rados. I also know quite a bit more about cars than most male friends. I can do most small jobs on cars like oil changes, brakes etc. I even once changed the radiator on my golf all on my own. Aren't I a clever little girl  ?
  21. That's excellent news Trigger, glad someone's managed to get one up on Tesco.
  22. as if by magic just to illustrate my point, someone at work just said 'is that your black car outside?' :bad-words:
  23. yes, it says red on the V5. Think they just chose the closest simple colour
