  1. Good day out. Didn't really take many pics. Only 2 worth putting up. Look forward to the next one, thinking BBQ in the new Forrest somewhere. And spirited drive with rams on the way back ;)
  2. I'm working till 1300 but will give you a bell and see where you are and head on down. Car will be filthy mind you, no time between now and sat to get the hose out :(
  3. Power curve looks good mate. As you say pretty much exactly the same as mine up until about 4.5k then yours creeps up slightly and has a stronger pull in the high revs where as mine levels off slightly. That'll be your larger charger and cams kicking in. What torque did it make then mate, would've been good to see those compared too? Might have to get me some cams ;) be interesting to see if my decat made a difference, imagine only a few bhp. Wheels look spot on too buddy, really transform the car and finish it off, the d90s were nice but just not special enough! Hoping to get mine on soon, won't be as bling tho. What tyre brand and sizes did you go for in the end mate? They're 8.5 wide aren't they? Shame it was raining last night but well have to go for a decent drive soon, new forest or swanage or something. Hopefully get another mini meet together if we get some sun :) I've heard about this race logic before but I thought it was more a gimmick but from the response here it seems highly rated, something worth considering?
  4. Very nice mate. I toyed with selling the VR for one of these as a more modern alternative but opted for the rotrex instead :) I had a drive of a mates 4motion and didn't feel the driving position was as engaging but it was a nice place to be. I've noticed a grey one is now parked in John Lewis everyday as I walk to work and always stare as I walk past, even with a bit of a round rear end it just has that appeal :) I've also been watching a few vids on you tube recently and I do love the 24v exhaust note :) Look forward to the updates
  5. Seems like a very fair price to me mate. Even as a 1st gen one still a great bit of kit. Sold my wifi only 64gb gen one ipad for £230 a few months back with a leather case etc as I also upgraded to the retina one. Glws :)
  6. Didn't you connect up the progressive meth kit into the brake vacuum line? There should be 2 nipples on the underneath you can take a vacuum off. I've got my recirc valve on one nipple and my progressive meth box on the other. That leaves you to attach your boost gauge using the t piece you already have onto the fuel reg, you'll get a more accurate reading too there im led to believe? Working till 8 tomorrow mate and going for a run in the morning otherwise couldve popped over. Holiday was good, both ended up with the flu though and only just really recovered. Was still nice to get some sun tho :) can possibly pop over weds maybe if you're about?
  7. Not sure on the dash mate but can't you just move your recirc valve to the brake servo line, that's where mine is connected, I don't have any t piece by my fuel reg. also couldn't you just connect the boost gauge to the second take off on the brake servo line?
  8. ive owned both and feel ive been as unbiased as possible, i have nothing to gain :) Having had both i prefer the vr, just for the sound of a vr with bmc and future tuning potential does it for me, and also slightly more modern interior but that can always be changed in a g60. A g60 might be more economical in the long run but limited tuning wise if thats your thing for big bhp? my g60 was great and never had any major trouble, i had the charger rebuilt and ported and a smaller pulley and it was superb, i only had general niggles like the ignition switch, spoiler mech etc, engine was spot on :) Either way both are great cars that will make you smile, You already have a vr6 golf so know what a vr is like to live with, the 2.9 isnt really any different. in fact as you have a vr golf, buy a g60 and then you ll have both! g60 will be a fun pocket rocket and feel light and nimble for the weekends, then your golf is there for relaxed driving and doing the long trips :)
  9. I had a ~200bhp g60 and it was punchy, aggressive to drive and more a racer, it felt lively all over the rev range and i did love the sound and for a few hundred £ on a chip pulley, decat and ported charger you've got an ever so lighter car possibly ever so slightly faster than a standard VR. When I first got my vr6 it felt slow until you got it to 4k rpm, then it wakes up and becomes lively but needs to driven hard to get the best out of it, as said its a cruiser under 4k rpm. But with a decat the sound is awesome and better than a g60 IMO. Also a vr6 is is quicker to 60mph due to its longer gearing and hitting 60 in 2nd, the g60 needs 3rd gear to hit 60mph. What's your long term plans? a g60 is easy to get to 200bhp and relatively cheap bang for buck, after that you need to spend a lot to achieve a little. Keeping the g60 charger I'd say ~240/250bhp is your limit and that will cost a fair bit and require serious engine work, you'll achieve more if you dump the g lader for a turbo To get about 220 out of a vr you'll need some cams, exhaust and remap and possibly a schrick inlet and none of that is cheap, circa £2k! I've charged my VR and its in a different league and the only way a g60 will be similar is if it was on a 16v engine, sticking a charger or turbo on a vr6 is definitely worth it and will always make you smile! As said drive both and see what suits your driving style first, fast aggressive g60 or more subtle laid back VR. Both will be about the same once the g60 has been lightly tuned :) and rebuild costs for the glader are about every 30/40k miles pending pulley size. I had a 68mm on mine. Hope that helps a little :)
  10. To add to this, I've never had a laptop but I have an old dell desktop pc. I also have a new ipad and i use it for everything. I use my desktop every now and again only to add some films to my ipad or music off of my hdd and download the odd film. But I use my ipad everyday for browsing the web, you tube etc and the games to pass the time. IMO it really is the best tablet experience what with the extensive App Store and crystal clear retina display. It is well made and very fast and the os is great. I bought my girlfriend an ipad mini and that's equally brilliant although if you were looking for a smaller tablet I bought my mum a google nexus 7 which is also fantastic. The google play store isn't quite as good as the App Store but it still offers a wide variety. It depends on what your needs are? If its just browsing the web and such then a tablet would be my choice, it's easy to use, pick up and put down and does the job perfectly. If you need something more for business power points and writing essays etc then a laptop is a must :) You can pick up iPads second hand cheap enough to try out, or a cheap laptop as mentioned before should do the job fine, I'd only go for a MacBook if you need the processing power such as image and video editing or graphic design.
  11. Bit of a thread resurrection :) not sure on what calipers you have bought. I have a set of 280 calipers and carriers off my vr6 when I upgraded to 312s :)

Appreciate the reply buddy, completely understand but £600 without the tyres is a bit rich for me but someone else might snap them up :) if you dont get the interest you expected and you're willing to drop the price at all let me know and ill keep an eye on the thread, GLWS mate :)

As said mate im very interested but a bit far for me to drive from bournemouth so would need posting and i have no use for the tyres. I think you'll struggle to sell them with tyres unless someone wants to pay your asking price and then sell the tyres on but even so one needs replacing anyway. Let me know if you're willing to sell without the tyres mate and if so what price you had in mind.

Does that include the adaptors? I'd be interested mate but not with those tyres on. I'd probably look to fit some 195/40s on an 8" rim. Have you any close up pictures and where abouts are you based? If you're willing to split let me know What you would be looking for without the tyres mate :)
  15. Shame about the maf mate but some good figures on the cards, might be up near my prediction? Did you mention to vince at all about mine and how his map on mine has forced you into the charged world ;) Hopefully it will all be smooth running for the next trip in April :)
  16. Sent you some pics rams of my install but as Kev has said you need to try and get the maf as far from the charger as possible to eliminate maf turbulence at low rpm. The charger drawing in air causes the turbulence and with the maf too close it doesn't give it enough pipework for the air to be a straight flow over the maf, so the maf can't get a clear signal because of the turbulent air and thus gives you a bit of an erratic idle. As said I've extended my maf to the passenger wing in front of the wheel and you've seen my idle is perfect, no turbulence at all and idles as if it was from the factory. The draw of the charger inlet has a metre of hose to suck through so the air being pulled through the maf is in a straight flow over the maf sensor. Having the filter in the wing might work mate but I decided I didn't want to take the risk, also my filter was too Close to the floor and now it sits horizontal and I have a shield in front of it to protect from road splashes and I'm much more confident driving in the rain :)
  17. Yes mate, popped to essex and mums today and enjoyable drives. Took mum out for a spin and she was shocked at what a difference it has made, as you heard decat gives a great sound on full chat, just need to watch the speedo tho as its so quick to the ton. Just want to sort some wheels but enquired about some and they don't seem to make them any more so I'm undecided now? Glad alls finally getting there. I wouldn't know about the drivability, my engine was standard and was just about driveable on standard injectors but overfuelled massively with my red tops in. You might be ok on your standard injectors as long as you keep it off the boost, ie don't go full throttle and under 2.5/3k rpm and should be ok. Take it for a gentle spin round the block and see how you feel? If I've not gone on holiday let me know when you're expecting to fire it up and I'll try pop down mate :)
  18. Great progress mate. Bet your chuffed and just can't wait to get it all together, then ill struggle to keep up with you ;) chubby will be a VR expert soon, how's the install gone, any issues or has he managed to pretty much set it up like mine, you know the hassle we had getting my charger and bracket on and took multiple figments to get a correct fitment. Let ,e know if I can help at all, can't wait to see it all, off on holiday next Friday for a week so keep me updated! Oh and I'm lost now mate, what will this set up be? C30-94 charger on 90mm pulley? What psi is that. And is the engine going to be 263cams with lowered compression and arps?
  19. If you want the max you can get out of the g60 mate have you thought about just ditching the g lader and going turbo? think there are a few threads on here and a local chap with a blue g60 went turbo with his years ago, don't know his name but was about with tidy few years ago. The engine is already low comp, should just need manifold, turbo, pipe work and an intercooler :)
  20. I Put some pictures up in my build thread. Had a good day out down the beach :)don't think it was planned too far in advance? Just an opportunity to make the most of the rare sunshine :) but hopefully next time be good to get more numbers or even a BBQ :)
  21. I'm thinking 7.5 up front with 8.5 rears. 195/40 up front 205/40 rears. Worried the front tyres might be a little skinny but wanted a subtle stretch and also 195/40 are near identical rolling radius to original spec so speedo won't be out :) I already have the tyres, just waiting for the wheels to come back in stock. Oh and going for 17" rims
