Had to delay my rotrex mapping at stealth until I fit this methanol injection kit I've just purchased. Question is I'm undecided where to mount the pump and whether to use the washer bottle or to buy a separate bottle and mount that too. Issue would be a lack of space mounting both the pump and another washer bottle. I know if I use the existing washer bottle as a meth tank I'll mess up my wind screen wash ability but if I ever sell the car I'm sure a new washer bottle can be sourced cheap, the advantage is that it's 4l and already in situ. I'm thinking at the moment to mount the pump to the left of the coolant tank and use supports on the bulk head but it does advise to have the pump lower than its methanol source? Would be a great help to see any other engine bay installs Many thanks :)

Had my 3GS for quite a while now since it first came out and resisted upgrades until now, it's just too outdated, bits of dust have got behind the glass and the camera doesn't cut it with today's new models. but I will add it has been awesome and never let me down, and stood up to the nemerous times I have dropped it. I will keep it as my iPod and use on wifi. So I was pretty set on going to go for a 5 but had a look and after reading all the reviews I'm not convinced. The phone screen may be gorgeous when it comes to clarity and colour but it looks out of proportion, it's too narrow for the new height of the screen, there's too many reports of people receiving scratched black models straight from the box, poor maps, some wifi issues and also appalling battery life. If the phone was say 4.3 inches I'd have probably gone for it but keeping the same width was not enough of an upgrade for me so galaxy s3 has been ordered and I'm swapping to android. See what the other side has to offer, I'm looking forward to getting a 64 gb sd card and having films etc to watch on that 4.8 inch screen :)

Lawless 8/10, I thought it was more of a inner city gangster flick but it's based in the local town, still good tho. Killing them softly 6.7/10 felt the film could have been told in 30 minutes, a bit thin and some moments with James gandolfini that I thought were a bit pointless, trying to be in depth but didn't work IMO

Very nice, you're loosing the spoiler mech then? Sorry if I've missed it but are you having a fixed spoiler? Look forward to further updates :)

Hello mate, saw these when they were installed the on the car above but that was under a different username, iR6?? How did you find 8.5 all round, fair bit of scrub on the arches I imagine? Would be interested but I had 9s all round before and used to scrub on the arches, and had quite a bit of camber on the fronts, is that camber wear on the outside of the tyre in the above pic?

Bought the tt calipers off of a chap on here and were already painted red and in good nick so Repainted them, bought one piece machined stainless steel 6mm washers off eBay with some high tensile longer bolts and new discs and pads. :)

Small update, been collecting parts for a while to finish off the charger install. Had my 312s and mk4 rears in the boot and decided to get them installed in prep for getting the car mapped Had some trouble bleeding the brakes as has been discussed before. There is a lot more pedal travel than before but once they bite the braking force is immense :) they are certainly an improvement and don't fade after a second or two like the 280s, they just bite harder and throw you forward in your seat. Painted them smooth gold to match the charger bracket and intake pipe :) Standard 280s Audi TT 312s

Ive been due an upgrade for 2 years now as ive stuck with my iPhone 3gs. Rather disappointed by the ip5 but on apples web it does look lovely and very well constructed. As said im sort of sucked into apple as i have an ipad and sync my apps and also photos taken go straight to icloud to view on my ipad etc. My mate has a htc one x and it is awesome, the screen is so clear, the camera is fantastic and the phone is a joy to hold. Im torn between that and the new iphone. it does just seem like someone has stretch a 4s and said that will do for this year. Id have liked the screen to be a tad wider to not make it look so tall and narrow? then theres the samsung s3 to throw in the mix? i hate to follow the crowd but its just easier to stay with apple than changing all new bits to an android phone?

Im looking to get the rotrex sorted and mapped and am nearly there, will look to get new spark plugs to be safe. I have used the search and see NGK BKR6E/BKR7E plugs are advised for charged engines, unsure of the differences between these two? This is great news as they are cheap :) But excuse my lack of mechanical knowledge but if i buy a set will they be set up and ready to drop in or will they need to be adjusted for the correct gap for a VR? Thank you in advance :)

Ive had some koni Ta's on my previous g60 and have some cheap jom coilovers on my vr now and have no issue with them. How fast do you actually drive round a corner these days to notice the difference? mine have been great, the ride is firm but im not old and dont have back issues etc so it actually suits me, i can feel the road and the car has very little body roll, i also have nankang tyres from a previous set of wheels i use for winter and they have also been fine, ive never had the tyres loose grip cornering, maybe i just drive slow round corners but fast in straight lines but my set up suits me. Buy what ever suits your needs, if you like hard cornering, track days etc then buy a tried and tested set, if you dont mind a firm ride and just drive around town with the odd blast a simple set up might suit? Try and get down a local meet to try out different set ups, probably the only way to actually make a solid judgement for yourself :)

I loved my g60, I had the sns chip with a 68mm pulley and the difference as soon as I drove it home from g-werks was night and day, so much more aggressive and punchy, with a rebuilt ported charger, decat and miltek exhaust it made 170bhp & 177lbs of torque at the wheels so more than standard at the fly. I also had the blanking plate on the charger outlet which some don't like but I personally loved it, I liked the sound it made when releasing full throttle boost and also it definitely helped keep the charger cool by only drawing in cool air and not the hot recirculated boost. Before, after a spirited drive the charger was as hot as the engine, after the blanking plate mod the charger was always cool to touch, it did need a squirt of charger lube to maintain inside lubrication. I did also remove the black plastic piece that stopped the air hitting the charger through the grill which I also think helped as well as a cold air feed routed from the brake air duct up through the deleted carbon can and into a few aptly drilled holes in the bottom corner of the airbox. Anyway enough of my ramble, Look forward to seeing your progress and enjoy the charger whine :)

Lol, Makes sense, I like food :)

Sounds to me like b would be your best bet. If you import a 2.9 manifold and put some cams in the 2.8 golf you'll find there is little difference between the two anyway. where is aus? austria?

Black interior light/sun roof control panel & sunvisors
Craig replied to BadMeatPies's topic in Interior
cheers buddy, i did a google search and could see that there were indeed some black switches but none had the sunroof switch? also wondering if there was any direct replacement black sunvisors? saw a rumour some mk3 golf cab ones might fit but no proof in this yet? -

Ditto? Anyone else know of a black sunroof switch and black visors? -
Still persevering with this at the mo. I was seriously considering selling up and looking at the charged 4motion on ed38 as its all ready to go in a more modern shell. id either have to sell the vr with it needing a map, or sell the charger separately and the car naturally aspirated. Not sure what id get for it all though. I did drive a standard 4mo and had mixed views, it wasn’t as engaging as the corrado but I did like the mod cons of a newer car. So far I have spoken to United Motorsports about mapping and they advised the Phirm are the guys to use. The Phirm gave a rough quote for map/injectors etc which I am sure they will do awesome work but is out of my current price range. Vince has been great providing quotes but the injectors he uses are out of my price range too so was wondering if I can just source some red/green tops from the u.s instead, plus it is a bit of a drive for me from here in Bournemouth? I found c2 sold all in one packages with 4” mafs, air filters, chips and injectors to suit at a great price but these wont work on uk cars due to emission differences? Are c2 and united motorsports related if anyone knows? I can get a 4” maf to stop the 5v limit but the car is overfuelling as there is black soot on the exhaust but it would still need a map? Cant seem to find any 4” filters either? So at the mo, I don’t want to sell up after coming so far but the appeal or something already worked on like the charged 4motion or a 350z is appealing? Just not sure how much money I can keep investing into an old car?? Hmm?

Thanks guys, appreciate the advice. I was toying with the idea of selling up as it is and letting someone else fit the 312s and get it mapped and i was seriously considering looking at the charged 4motion on ed38 as its somethiong newer and more refined but i do love the rado shape, driving postion and the way it drives. I drove a mates standard 4motion and it felt like a bus, and the back ends are quite fat and square, dont get me wrong the low down engine response was sublime compared to a vr6 but overall it made the vr6 feel like a caterham, light and nimble. I just didnt anticipate spending another £1k on a remap/injectors after spending so much on the charger etc, my fault for lack of experience and being a bit naive. People are always posting about their FI exploits and now i have an understanding of how much they must have spent!! Think i will look into a 4" maf, cant seem to find any 4" filters though to fit on the end? and i was hoping my 4 pin maf would fit. not sure on costs for a charge cooler, only issue would be then having to use a short runner intake? and ive no idea about a meth set up, something else to research :)

Ditto, did this with a freshly sharpened house knife and worked a treat :)

Thanks for the reply Kev, much appreciated. Ive currently read through up to page 50 on the fi thread and still going when have the time for a glance :) also making notes and saving web pages but as you say I'm also trying to ascertain what is still available as with c2. :) guess this can be locked then.

Hold be game for this when I get my car driving properly, have a football tournament with work tomorrow tho but will keep an eye out future meets :)

Hello all, Ive trawled through the net and on here and would like to just get all the info in one place and ask a few questions to make sure its correct. Ive got a rotrex c30-84 charger on my Vr as in my build thread and have been trying to weigh up the costs of carrying on or selling up as i was a bit naive in underestimating the costs to FI. I wanted to confirm what people feel would be a suitable limit for bhp/psi on stock compression/internals? what is a suitable limit for boost/bhp with no cooling? How easy is it to install water/meth injection. is it even worth it? If a lower compression gasket and arp head bolts were used what would this take the bhp limit up to? I noticed the c2 software has been used before by a few on here and i was wondering will a late style obd1 4 pin maf fit a 4" maf housing that was designed for an obd2 maf? they appear the same fitment and design. sorry for all the questions but i wanted some clairty on the routes i can take.

No doubting the car has the engineering features like cf roof, bonnet and engine, but I think the styling is somewhat to be desired, is this was on eBay and just had a 16v engine I think people would question it more than praise the look. Everyone can have an opinion and for that asking price I would be looking at something newer but any prospective buyer that has the spare cash more than likely already has something like an rs6 as a daily and this would be their weekend car ;) I hope John gets as close as possible to his asking price as I'm sure it will be hard to part with something you've spent so many hours building.

Had 16x9s all round on my Vr. Pictures in my thread http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?49971-Twilight-Violet-rotrex-VR6-it-s-alive-but-need-some-maf-help! :)
