Ah my old thread has returned! I got mine from Awesome in the end.
-
Just been having a look around at various parts due to a stalling problem and came across a disconnected wire.... on the lambda probe wiring on the engine side there are the 4 wires connected to the probe itself, and there is also a black wire which looks like it has been cut at some point and is not connected to anything? Where is this wire meant to lead to?

Mine is black.... Aqua blue Corrado
-
Arse Biscuits actually 8)
-
What do you soak it in? Mine has a bit of a stalling problem at the mo.
-
I saw one of these coming down the road yesterday, and it really caught my eye. Didn't even know what it was for a start! Really nice looking on the road.
-
It's hardly weather for the sunroof anyway.... forget about it and fix it next year!
-
Thanks, I'd forgotten 8)
-
Haven't seen it with my own eyes, but from pics I'd say Violet Touch pearl looks pretty damn amazing 8)

It was ace, totally mental driving conditions with all that spray :D Raikkonen was awesome, he appeared to be the one pushing the limits and did some great overtaking. Hamilton was good for different reasons, solid drive from him. Looks like it's in the bag now. Have to say I was hoping Raikonnen would come up and surprise him in the last few races but can't see it now. Gutting for Webber, don't blame him for saying the f word on tv  I got a bit annoyed that the commentators thought the Ferraris were fueled to the end - it was obvious they weren't, they would only have made it to the end if they'd stayed behind the safety car all race. A rare slip up from Brundle!

Oh that reminds me, I took some pics when I did my tappets and cams, really need to write that up sometime. Job for the weekend perhaps :)

mk2 are not the same as mk3! Well, not the same as the later mk3 ones anyway. If they have a big spring on them for the handbrake mech they are mk2 style and will seize. If the spring mech is internal they are mk3 style which is much better.

The legend at work..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ci_p6ulyTRg -
It does have a 3.9, thats why I was considering it :-P So it looks very do-able, does anyone know for certain what the differences are?
-
Straight to the point - what parts are needed and how much work would it be to fit a V5 gearbox to a VR6?
-
I need a small t-piece to fit the flexible vacuum hoses on my VR6. Any idea where to get one this size?
-
Not on the Corrado, but I'm pretty sure that's where a rattle is coming from on my Polo. The arm is all loose. Haven't had a proper look at it yet, so haven't decided what to do with it....... I'd imagine something is seized cos the spring should hold it tight I'd have thought :)
-
Might be worth asking if he'd do a bunch of them at the same time? I'd be up for that.
-
I replaced the whole tensioner. If it's that it'll show up when releasing the tension anyway. Thanks Roger :)
-
Good idea, will check that when I get home next week :) I know it's not the tensioner bearing as I've already had that problem and replaced it a while ago.

Back to this old thread...... It's taken me months due to travelling for work etc, but I did finally get in there and get the cams out. Cams looked good, no wear or anything. Using a guide found on CGTI I stripped the tappets, thoroughly cleaned them and rebuilt them. They were IMMACULATE, no scratches or anything to indicate sticking and also the little piston inside every one of them was free to move. So now it's back together and the noise is no better  The noise is definitely isolated to what sounds like just one tappet/valve/whatever. I don't think the timing is off, as the problem developed gradually rather than suddenly. And as far as I could see the timing was fine when I had it all apart. So I guess the next step is to look at oil pressure, get it tested or whatever to see if it's ok. Is there a way to check for blocked oilways without taking the head off etc?
-
There are only 2 ways to do it IMO, all the bumper products just don't seem to last any length of time. Sure they look great when applied but most of them stay "wet" and wash off pretty quick. A heat gun works pretty well, or my favourite is Kiwi Scuff Cover (yes, the shoe dye stuff) that comes in a bottle with a sponge applicator. Lasts 6 months at least!

Can't you get adaptors made in such a way that you won't need the spigots?
-
At ET50 you're going to have to space them out anyway so might as well do it with adaptors.

I also got told by a painter there were 2 shades for LC5U, so it sounds pretty likely. Better than some colours - a friend of mine went to get paint for his plain white Peugeot 306 and within the same paint code he had 9 different shades to choose from! I'm thinking about getting some aqua blue paint done soon and have to admit I'm worried about the match, I just can't see it being easy to get the purple tint right. Although I'm not a painter so what would I know!
