  1. There are electric drill pumps and going down the dip stick tube around but the cost out weights just undoing the sump plug while cold and letting out about 1.5 ltrs and just topping up to the max mark with a little of the drained off oil. It shouldn't really smoke that much with overfilling as you've done. It's a sign of piston rings which have seen better days but don't quite need overhauling yet..... another 10k to 25k miles perhaps. Keep an eye on the piston crowns through the spark plug holes at service time for black coking up due the oil getting up past the rings. .
  2. Solenoid valve not working, fault 00262. VW advise is to check the external electrical connections to the Auto-gearbox for moisture and corrosion. This valve is controlled by the red wire from the auto-ECU connector to the autobox connector. Worth a check on this one and while at it, the other 9 coloured wires from the autobox connector (black & black/white are joined at the ECU connector. Failing this, the No3 solenoid has failed. Part is a ribbon circuit strip with the solenoid valves on it. If it gets to this extreme, I can’t see the part on the VW parts list and would suppose the only option is a autobox specialist.
  3. erm, sorree it's a bill. Not repairable as its a bore wear problem and I'm not aware of an oversize plunger to fit once bored out. Bang on. 4th pump with Mobil 0W40 if you confirm it J. Longest mileage one I've known though. .
  4. Naaaa.......... Driving test every 5 years....... .

    Spark Plugs

Cos the resistance is already in the leads at 5Kohms or there abouts. Not needed on the VW............. .
  6. Serial number is not possible for 08907 in the S chassis year. K max. = 15500 L max. = 27400 M max.= 18100 N max. = 18000 P max. = 12000 R max. = 5900 S max. = 4043 (All approximations) The build number is like this........ wwwzzz50z*K0&&&&& where * is the chassis year (not vehicle registration plate) letter from K (1988/89) thro' S (1994/95) and &&&&& is the five digit serial production number including leading zeros, ie. 807 becomes 00807. Plumb this in and it works. .
  7. Hi The oil pump relief valve may be jammed inside the pump. Seen three before with this when the pump gets miles above 50K and has been run on 0w40 - 5w40 grade type oils. The plunger valve "rattles" with the thin oil and eventually produces a lip in the bore. The plunger valve eventually jams sideways in the bore against the lip causing excessive oil pressure which then pushes the hydraulic tappets and the valves stay slightly open. To investigate the oil pump will need to be split open. The lip is more visible than can be felt. .

    VR6 has flat spots

And whats the engine ECU fault memory like? .
  9. 50 amps is large fuse to blow. Either the thick red (striped or not) wiring from the fan controller to the rad thermoswitch below the battery is chaffing or the fan motor has seized / gone dead short. .
  10. Here we go........... Or may the rumour can be started that the Storms were secretly made in Mexico..... :ignore: .
  11. You will need to change the MFA module part as well. Not programmable. ROM is specific - ie MPH/miles or KPH/K's .
  12. 1H0 907 379E replaces it in later Corrado's from late '94 onwards. The spare is specified as 1H0 907 379F (Never seen one of these). .
  13. The spoiler controller is behind the headlight switch inside the dash. .
  14. Questionable without detailed cross check of wiring as I think yours is a "535" ECU where later Corrado's used the Mk3 Golf unit "1H0". You need to get it out of the passenger side lower door pillar cavity and look what part number it is. .
  15. Be aware, there are two types of controller box. The base mounting plug connector differs so they are not interchangeable. You need to state your C's year. Upto about early 1991 manufacture and after that. Microswitch can be tested with a meter. .
  16. Seems 258AC, 258CB & 258AF will possibly work. What won't are the later coil pack types as the wiring is significantly different. A 021 906 258 brand new was on FleeBay about Christmas time and I seem to remember it didn't sell at £50. Pity........... .
  17. Some are ABS only, some ABS & EDL (traction control) and use different ABS valve blocks. Corrado has four, two LHD, two RHD, each without/with EDL. .
  18. J. It's a non dim-dip circuit type switch. It won't fit unless you break off the plastic keyway. All the pin labels should match for number/letter and position. The one missing will be 58D (IIRC) in the middle of the row of pin along a long side of the switch body. Just means the dim-dip won't switch on (yellow wire on plug). Safe in this condition as there is no physical connection. .

    2x2 vag-com leads?

Kongo127, How many wires in total to the black and the white connectors on the car? 4? And chassis number minus the last 3 digits? PM if need be. .
  20. I'd still swop out the ECU for another of the same suffix letter standard if you can. .

    Tps

Erm... No. Effectively you've removed the harmonisation of TPS/ECU by mechanical means, even if the battery remained connected. The ECU needs to be put into Basic Settings in the usual way get the ECU to "learn" the TPS position again. .
  22. Only if you put the black connector to white & vice-versa. Looks like the ABS ECU has a problem........ .

    Vag com query

The scan method is long winded and meant for VAG cars with many ECU's, ie. 20+. It saves you having to select each one. Quicker to interrogate the 3 (4 if auto) ECU's on the N reg C. Control Modules Selection available: Engine ECU (01), ABS ECU (03) & Immobiliser (25) (+Auto (02) if auto gear box is fitted). Enter each and when communicating, press fault codes (02) to look at the list of codes if present. Until registered you will have several frustrating restrictions on what you can see & do....... .
  24. There is nothing special about connecting to the ABS ECU. No special fickle ways needed. Looks like the ABS ECU doesn't like the interface you've got for some reason. Try another car with ABS if you can to verify if it's the C's ABS ECU or your interface. Does this have ABS?? .
  25. All Corrado VR6 are this number but the suffix counts as there are minor wiring loom differences plus the last in the series (CP) is an immobilised version. The range is B, BF, CC, AG & CP. First three are 6 way distributor, last two are coil pack versions. "Have had quite a few problems with this VR6, it's a 1991 model passat vr6." Is the engine a 2.8 or 2.9 ltr engine? Passat engines will have another set of suffices. .
