And burn out the motor as the end of travel microswitch will not trigger! .
-
Usual rules I would have thought, ie. meets emissions, noise, smoke etc. Maybe better to exit the RH side so pedestrians don't suffercate! .

It applies to the valve block, not the brake pipes external to the ABS valve block. Also, it's a warning for the Teves 02 system fitted to the LHD cars. The RHD cars are Teves 04 which is entirely different in components but acheives the same ABS/EDL functions (EDL is traction control). The Teves 02 has a hydraulic pressure reservoir sphere (accumulator) and it is this that needs to be depressurised by pumping the brake pedal. This item is not used on the Teves 04 system. Pressurisation is acheived solely by electric pump. I would still take precautions when splitting open the valve block but the external pipe work will only have residual pressures as per a normal braking system. .

The noises are cos the hubs have been severely overtightened! Rear hub bearing nuts have no torque at all. Spin the disc/bearing and tighten until the thick washer behind the securing nut is just pushable with a screw driver. The disc being turned should not feel as though it is binding but will be a little stiff. Final check with the while bearing assembly, split pin in etc., and bareaing cap cover in place and wheel back on, jack it down, put in gear on reasonably level ground, handbrake off. Now put your foot on the top outer face of the tyre and make the wheel rock into and out of the wheel arch. ie. at right angles to the wheel rotation. You should only hear/feel a faint clunk or nothing at all. If it clucks in both directions quite noticably, the bearing is too slack. Slight overtightening of the bearing is like an sixteenth of a turn while slowly turning the disc from where it feels that it finally has finally bedded down but "good tightening" is miles to high! It may damage or distort the bearing assembly items. I'd recommend that the bearings are changed again as they may have been damaged/distorted by the stress due to the 210Nm tghtening. .

Excellent, glad it's sorted. :thumbleft: .

If you mean the "hook" bit on the bonnet, no. .

Kev, thats a bare cost??? It cost me £295 including tyres off, tyres on at the local pick up point last year and despatch/return from Pristine for a set of 14" wheels. Chris Looks like the clear lacquer coat has perished. Common on painted alloys with age. Matter of regular checking/inflating v refurbishment. That will break the air seal of the laquer on speedlines or solitudes and many other VW painted alloy wheels as the alloy metal is air porous. That's with they eventually start leaking with time as the lacquer coat perishes. .

No probs. Hmmm. I thought this was an issue of fans not working?????? Your solution is mechanical not electrical. .

Other than I now see Ebay as " No.5 of a limited edition of 30" Final price £300. .
-
It was a limited run of some 30 badges planned. The best coming off first and stopped as the lashed up moulding lost its quality (he won't sell bad ones ). The 30 may have turned into a few more depending how themoulding stood up to useage. Muarice couldn't justify the pucca moulding costs to get pay back but given the rate they've moved, it may have moved his marketing thoughts since the conversation at Ragley Hall GTI meet last September?? .

It will end up at Karmann..... .

There are three standards link standard (not leads) knocking around in VAG. It's to do with L, K & K lines in the diagnostics plug. Each line has modules (ECUs etc) hanging on a particular line. So a particular lead will work but not see all ECU's. Optical coupling interfaces (slow) should be avoided for future proofing and difficult modules (eg. 16v 2.0ltr Corrado engine ECU). The above were the basic which would work with a serial port & Corrado. 1.8T? What year and then look here....... http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic. ... highlight= Chris .

They (VW) call them "clinics" here sometimes in the UK where a few customers get a chance to input to revised styling before VAG UK input their market requirements for the next year's models. Usually trim, colours etc. A few "special" cars are put in a dealership showroom one evening after opening hours with nibbles, wine & comment sheets and you are let loose on them. Not unique to VW though as I've seen other manufacturer's invites to similar. .

http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewto ... s&start=15 page 2! But what is missing????? .

I use a serial connection on the laptop. ie. the 9 way plug on the back face of the laptop. .
-
Thats what I use. An old Tosh Tecra 510 (c. 1995/96) + W95. It's only a small programme and isn't processor hungry. Down load the programme it will load and run without the lead & car in a limit fashion. For Corrado download the v409.0 version. Thats the highest version most typical EBAY leads will work with. .

The official distance for that measurement in the photo from body surface to pin point is 57mm. (Just in case you loose it ) .
-
Yes, interested. Is the bodywork an early bonnet or later version? Can the catalogue page be scanned and shown here? .

No, ends up on the rad fan connector. Just line out the whole length and ignore the fan controller is sitting in the middle. Looks like it could be. If it does line out between the thermo-switch connection and rad fan connection, split the fan controller and line out to each; from fan control connection to rad fan connector and rad thermo-switch connector. Also check all end fittings in plugs are free from corrosion and damage. .

16 pin type on Ebay (ie. 2 row of 8 pins type of plug) VAG-COM can be down loaded from Ross-Tech website as Freeware. Some functions limited or not operational until registered (payment). Freeware is easy to load and just plug the cable in both the laptop and car. .
-
What I wrote here will help. http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic. ... highlight= You really need to have the v512.1 version to access all the ECUs/Modules which means the dearer set up but CAN won't necessary but note future proofing. .

“Bridged Red – Red/White” That’s the stage 1 fan. “Bridge Red – Red/Black” That’s the stage 2 fan. “Red/White got 0 volts” Would expect that. “Fan controller involved in radiator thermo-switch?” Yes it is. Stage one is monitored by the fan controller while at the same time the thermo-switch directly switches ON the stage 1 fan. Stage 2 fan is switched by the fan controller only. Stage 3 is switched by the thermo-switch in the thermostat housing (2 pin black) via the fan controller. First line out the thermo-switch connection to the radiator fan motor for the Red/White wire. Is it OK? Then apply 12 volts across the Red/White and Brown wire connections at the radiator fan motor to see if stage 1 will work. Just a contact enough to quickly pulse the motor (due to the current drawn). Is it rotating? These are the only two failure conditions left for the fan stage 1 to check after the wire bridging already done. Bridging the thermo-switch connector has bypassed any question that the radiator thermo-switch is at fault. .

Yes it is the one. Position in the three holes is not always the same as EKTA. Item 6 is the engine ECU temp sender Item 7 is the 3rd rad fan speed but comes in two forms, aircon - 4 pin, non aircon (UK) 2 pin. ie. a UK VR6 will normally have item (7), not 7. .

As Dinkus says, don't go for today. If you are planning to stay with VDUBS then future proof yourself to new cars this year. At least you will get some value out of the interface over the next few years. Next year is another year and the diagnostics is always on the move. Ross-Tech since 2000 have had to revise the interfacing 3 times to cope with the moving situation. The basic one $220/$249 will cover the Corrado and let you get into most VAG upto 2000. And a lot of the modules but not all on post 2000 to 2004 VAG cars. There's also a software break at v409.1 which is the most advance supported for basic interfaces. Beyond this, the interface & the software changes to the +CAN interface type only and this is what Uwe is still developing to keep up with VAG. .
