  1. I had one like this a few years back on an 8v Scirocco and the valves just missed the piston crowns by a hair's width. The carbon was marked but no more. That happened on starting the engine. .
  2. Turning an engine with a snapped belt can sound normal. Take off the cam belt cover by the rocker cover and see: a) what state is in b) turn the engine and see if the belt is driving the cam. It may be that the belt is OK but the engine drive cog has rip off the belt teeth at that cog position, in which case the belt will be tight but it will not move. .
  3. Worth doing all three if the paint hasn't been treated that way. It's a "system". Then use the step3 & shampoo to maintain it. .
  4. Yeah, some 16v will, manufacturing tolerances etc. Both Roccos I have are 98RON. One won't run on 95RON while the other did for 3 years until I had to replace the piston rings. Now it won't again. .
  5. Unless already modified, they run on Super. Later 16v 2.0ltr were made to run on normal 95RON unleaded. The temp sender may be one possibility. The other may be a partly open stuck thermostat if the sender does not correct it. .
  6. It's a fuel pump relay from early - mid 80's systems. Your fuel pump relay is in the bottom row, nearest the door pillar (bottom right). It's part number is 191 906 383C. .
  7. They did in the Saturday 11th march Telegraph, page 3. Beeb don't pay enough......... To clarify the "turn the ignition off" it actually says.... quote the BMW spokeman, "Our advice would be to pull the gear lever into neutral or turn the ignition off". And then leave the key in the steering lock to maintain freedom of the steering. Bottom line if a trucker like this gets in this situation and can't slow it down, then the situation must have been a little hairy along the way. .
  8. Wasn't booked. Car fault. The throttle jammed wide open on an automatic. He applied the brakes to hold 70mph, phoned the AA. Then but as they faded, dialed 999 and got 4 cars & a helicopter and the speed slowly rose thro' to 130mph as the brakes completely faded. BMW stated afterwards, just turn off the ignition. I suppose in the heat of the moment, that didn't occur to him. .
  9. Which Corrado model do you have and what's the 9 digit and possible end suffix letter on the relay? .

    VR6 ECU question

The ECU is for a key immobilised version of the VR6 2.9ltr "ABV" engine fitted to October'94 - June '95 Corrado and the 4wd Mk3 Golf 2.9ltr VR6. .

    VR6 ECU question

No. Has the car had an accident at any time on that side. May have bent the bottom scuttle panel upwards. So the gap is narrower under the windscreen is narrower. Try taking out the air intake cover over the cabin fan and move it towards the outer side. .

    Logic 900

No Stan. The siren can be though. Key switch on the body of siren. You will need to find it's power supply wire/fuse inside the dash. Driver's side. .

    VR6 ECU question

Disconnect the battery earth pole. make safe. Lift the rubber seal forward of the plastic splash sheild. The lift the splash up and pull the ECU connector lock forwards. The connector will almost fall off. Now locate on the base plate moun the holding nut and remove, Shove the ECU side ways of the locating mouts for the base carrier plate. ECU should now twist out from under the winscreen. .
  14. The VR6 OEM system splits at the first & middle box. No split between the middle and back box. Pipe work not brilliant over the back beam axle to do a join as it's not perfectly round. .
  15. Dropped by VW some 2 years ago. Wasn't valid for a a Club apparently. .
  16. I have two Ross tech ones (optical & electrical isolation) and never have trouble with VR6's early or late. 9600 baud rate preset and straight in. .
  17. Sounds like the interface lead was not compatible. What was the interface used (Ross Tech or EBAY type)? VR6 engine ECU's are not a problem with communications. No special set up of VAG-COM needed. Should just go straight in and lock on. .
  18. The point is that a C is soft and as such any crash means a "slow" absorbed impact where you (your body) are brought to a controlled halt. The car looks horrible but you walk away in better shape given the circumstances of the crash. (Remember that badly smashed C with tyres inside as a load - amazingly the driver is alive). In solid car like the Merc, you get the brunt of it not the car so your insides rupture and that's what makes you serious injured or killed. Fords are solid, not a car make I like driving for this reason. .

    rear spoiler

Yeah, easy taking out the spoiler unit. Raise it first and remove the aerofoil part by undoing the small allen head bolts in the lift arms. Take out the 2 screw in each base on the outside of the hatch. Inside remove the inner hatch panel by turning the screw thro' 90 degress. Disconnect the electrical connections. 4 bolts to remove the unit. (Take photos of the connections to remember) Then take the spoiler apart the on the tube bit on the side not working. Inside you will find a cable drive with a "eye" end fitting. The pin on the lift arm that engages the "eye" is most likely snapped. You will need to drill out what's left in the lift arm part and then refit a small metal rod made from a part of a small bolt with its head cut off to make the new pin the right length and also fit the "eye" end. It has to be corrosion proof so use a small brass bolt and cut it to length and glued into the hole you have left by drilling out the broken pin. I've used B&Q 0.5 x 25mm 3mm machine screw part code AVF-069543. .

    rear spoiler

Sounds like the little pin in the lift tube has snapped and the cable eye end has nothing to engage with. DIY job, no VW spares, need to fit a new home made pin in the lift arm. In order to do, you will need to take the spoiler mechanism off the rear hatch and split open the unit on the arm that is failing to lift. .
  21. There are no screws. If not "fix" by a previous owner, then you will see what looks like black plastic nuts. In most cases, taking them off breaks the stud mounting on the back of the panel. So not really fixable afterwards in the original way. You wll need to stick it back on in some way. .
  22. Not quite true for the record. The four pin version is the third fan speed with air-con (Brown sensor). If it is a two pin type its the third fan speed only that it controls (Black sensor). The sensors are in a horizontal row facing forward on the forward front left corner of the upper engine area above but slightly inboard of the radiator fan motor. I think the connection you may be looking at is the reversing light switch on top of the gearbox. Come higher and slightly inboard of that. .
  23. A lot of the Bentley is now scattered in the various sections at this web site under Corrado.... Some more just added this last week. http://volkswagen.msk.ru/ .

    Headlight question

The profile from the side view is the actual difference and so the glass lens has different dimensions which won't affect fitment but will affect the visual position relative to the wings. There are three glass lens in existance, the middle one lasted for 1 year in 1992. This wasn't / isn't listed as a spare part, the later standard being used as per your 1992 C.. The black snug trim changes accordingly to maintain the snug fit. .

    ABS ECU

When you did the front brakes. Do you mean the discs were replaced. Did you transfer the ABS sensor trigger rings of the inside of the discs????? .
