Elsecar Mega Meet 25th April
Butterfly replied to macvwnut's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
Think yourself lucky you dont have to sleep next to him after he's attacked a curry 'cuase as you know he likes spicy! -
There aren't any. The rear arches are part of the basic shell and are not panels welded on.
-
The wheels I've been showing the car with were done 3 years ago so I think I can justify getting the 'winter wheels' refurbed :)
-
She's been sat in the garage since coming home and had no attention at all. I've got a list of things to do but going out to the garage in Jan / Feb weather is never very appealing to me. Took some wheels for refurb this morning but that's it so far.

Had the same problem with one of mine. Ended up taking the battery out (to get better access) fitting a small hacksaw blade one side of the metal of the slam panel then fitting it to the junior hacksaw in position on the other side of the slam panel and after over an hour of Kip slowly sawing back and forth with about half and inch of movement he cut the screw. There is (was) a thread with pics of the bit you need to access and where to fit the hacksaw but I don't know if you will be able to find it now!!!

Found it.... but not sure where all my pics are!

Sorry me again. Have all old threads been copied over? I can't find my members thread. Found it after seeing Corozins post about setting thread categories or what ever... -
THE Corrado Forum 2.0 FEEDBACK THREAD
Butterfly replied to Andi's topic in Site Comments and Questions
Ah, that answers the avatar questions. The pros sound interesting, again, I hope I can work it all out! Thanks again -
I know, sorry all. The timing really wasn't good but a bit of fun to keep you waiting and wondering... if you were that interested. Engine bay looks fine for an everyday car but it is no where near proper clean. And the car will be going back in early spring as it was buffed etc in fully artificial light. When the roller doors were opened and the car driven out the paintshop guys were horrified to see wheel arches and wing mirrors needed lots more work! Still, they had already said bring it back in Spring as there are always bits and pieces noticed once serious show prep begins. I wonder if they would bring their buffing equipment out to our place and work on it a bit in the next month or two as I don't fancy doing a serious clean only to have her go back into a bodyshop just before Elsecar!

The car was ready for collection midday Wednesday and I was due to set off to Bristol at 2pm. It was a very busy, stressful few hours!! Paul moved a ton of snow from in front of the hire car so that could be moved to get the garage door open. I've only just had chance to upload the pics as I've been partying the last few days. Can't wait to get home and see her again (and see Paul of course :D )
-
Not much in the way of photo updates recently but I'm told she will be all done by midday tomorrow and will be coming home on a delivery lorry. Kip had better not have too much of a lie in on his day off as he has plenty of bits of Nugget to remove from my side of the garage. Plus we have a curtesy car to move from infront of the garage door. Fingers crossed we dont get the bit of snow forecast and it's not so cold tomorrow that the frost never leaves the hill we live on.
-
More pics to make you laugh... or cry. And others that hopefully wont kick off the 'required paint finish' debate again!!
-
I've got all winter and hopefully a double garage to myself for a while to clean it in as I expect the Nugget to be gone a while. And, as Kip says, I would love my car to be a perfect factory finish but after 15 years it aint and it had a pretty cr@p paint job on a wing and door. That and the bonnet & other wing needed sorting so I have to do what I have to do. The paint on the car was embarrasing even though many people who saw the car thought it was mint!! I've pointed out the many problems to anyone who wanted to know in the last 2 years and they all seem to realise what I meant.
-
OK, for a laugh... and anyone who doesn't know what they are letting themselves in for with painting... It will gleam again, but I might need a few hoover bags to get there. Paintshop say it will be returned clean. I'll post a pic of what they class as clean when I take her back. (I hope I am very pleasently surprised)
-
I've told 'em, and told 'em and told 'em..... that I need to keep my orange peel finish. But I don't think my bonnet (either of them) ever had much orange peel (though admittedly I didn't know to look for it a few years back). Paintshop owner says it's still there, he can see it. But I can't see through all the paintshop dust and crud. In a few days I'll be looking for it. :help: LOL  But even through the dust & crud she sure does look pretty. :luvlove:

Gimp mask wont come anywhere near protecting the car at the moment. Roads are impassable without winter tyres and I'm more concerned about the underneath!! Flippin woman in the Freelander hitting Kip has A LOT to answer for. The car was supposed to be painted in Oct but I held off to get it to the NEC. Oh well..... And some of todays pics
-
Cars not done. There's still polishing to do and of course rebuild all the bits taken off but she's the right colour again :) Starting to get nervous again as it will soon be time to accept the job (and pay for it  ) or point out problems (hopefully none) 2.jpg[/attachment:13fmiss2]passat climatronic wiring diags.pdf3.jpg[/attachment:13fmiss2]climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdf4.jpg[/attachment:13fmiss2]2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdf1.jpg[/attachment:13fmiss2]

Passenger door? Oh yes. Handle, wing mirror and door/window seal off and what a lovely lip of laquer there was from when it was badly painted before. That's one pic I forgot to take and really wish I has as so many people didn't see the state it was in and don't believe me when I say it neeeeeeded paint (in places). Plus the fish eyes in the passenger wing are getting sorted.
-
I hear you but I have total confidence in the place doing the work. They have told me their plans for getting the paint on and it sounds comprehensive enough.
-
Flatting back today. Had a demo of what was going to be done then I left them to it. Mystic paint tomorrow
-
Todays installment. And I'm not sure all the painting being done is a full respray job. It's only really the front that had serious issues.. other bits are tidying up niggles with imperfections but doesn't warrant full on paint.. Had a very interesting chat with the owner of the garage as he was explaining the grades of paper used in the prep and what their plans were for each area regarding 2pac priming, paint, laquer etc etc
-
Yeah cause at 10.30 you say things like 'did you strip the this and that bits off before taking it in'? So I have to get up and write a list of things to remember to gone down and recover just in case at 8am Monday morning. :brickwall: :cuckoo:
-
We took all the lights home with us. I explained to the bodyshop that it wasn't cause I didn't trust them to look after them but at £550+ for new headlights, fogs & indicators I would be happier with them at home  Plus I thought I might as well take the 'road' grille so it's out their way.. and they know which one to paint! It's not a full respray, just the bits that need seeing to. The passenger wing and door had been painted before and handle, mirror and window trim hadn't been removed so you can imagine what sort of a job had been made. Jim - and it's not an ironing board, it's a stand with a bonnet stood on it
-
I know. I've had paint before on the other Storm and I well remember the paint dust everywhere.. but this place say it will be all cleaned before coming back to me. We will see if it is concours clean. And last weekend - I purposely didn't put loads of stuff on the plastics as I knew it gives paintshops a hard time... I only gave it a quick detailer all over (and clean / polished, waxed the bonnet cause of water marks) though I did gloss up my inner arches and tyre gelled the whole tyre!! I have thought to just leave the car with them and not call in to see it as I am a bit chicken about it but one of the reasons I chose the place is they are only 3 miles up the road so not to visit makes no sense re that reason. Gonna be mega paranoid about it when it is back :help:
