Right.... 25 past 10 on Thursday night and I have at last got a few mins to log into here... There was a perfectly sound and sensible reason for the post. I should have left the office in Bristol well before 5.30pm for the drive home to S Yorks but someone (who was working late) asked about my car..... Quickest way to find a thread I had posted in was to start a new one :) I was having trouble finding a thread with any of my posts as the stupid marketing banners for 'Mature Dating Sites' etc were being blocked by the banks internet security and throwing the page layout all over the place... But, I am loosing it :) On the drive down Tuesday am, after stopping off for breakfast, I picked up the stereo head unit and tried to plug it in to the rear view mirror!!! (and that was after a large coffee)

Or a cyclist coming down the hill and the dog runs out from a path behind terrace houses built right up to the pavement edge as in Kips case??? The dog didn't sound as if it had enjoyed being hit broad side by a bike at speed and Kip certainly hasn't enjoyed his pain & discomfort and 6 weeks statutory sick pay. But it wasn't the dogs fault. It was the owners for not having control of his dog. And it is the dog owners responsibily to comply to dog law. A collar with the owners name & ADDRESS (not just mobile number) should be worn in public places. And a dog kept on a lead when on the public highway. http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1992/901/article/2/made But, back to the original reason for the thread. Yep, sounds like the neighbour is the problem. Keep records etc but, not knowing of you own your property, remember that any dispute with neighbours must be notified in sale particulars if/when you might ever sell.

WD69 could have had a few name issues too...

Nice picture of lots of bits. Well done on taking the tank off, serious sign of commitment. men in white coats will arrive any day soon!

mid bar bush I took off and fitted a new one post painting. Came off remarkably easy and the new one popped on no trouble with a bit of lube!! Ah.. more pics and you took it off with brakes attatched still. Fair 'nough, it's pretty heavy then. To elaborate, when I was getting rid of my 3rd one and got up early for work, got it in the 8v wearing 'working on car' clothes then showered & changed for work so didn't really want to wrestle with getting it out when all suited & booted for the office. It would have been too heavy then!

James... James... you have lost your engine!! Very lax of you I must say.. Nice work (started) on the rear beam though I don't know what you're talking about re it being heavy. I've carted a few about over the years, and my write up re doing so will hopefully appear in the next Sprinter :) I even aquired a third beam at one point that had disks & calipers still attached and that was heavy. But I still managed to get it in the rear of my 8v all by myself. I accepted the offer of a big burly man to get it out at the other end of its journey though and he was surprised that I had got it in all by myself ;) Looking forward to more pics.

I drove it! The storm. Just done a 60 mile round trip to physio on A roads, Mway and country lanes. Cause the Storm was out and it really needed a bit of movement after all winter sorned and just a 1 mile trip out and back to Elsecar so as the sun is shining today so I thought what the heck, take it and enjoy it...lol

I can't really help with advice on the marking of non standard classes but would think that it is not just about how clean areas are but how well executed and difficult to achieve mods are. A 100% perfect but standard interior, even if optional extra leather recaros is not going to score as highly as a totally custom fit replacement. Likewise wheels... the non standard scene all seems to be about how well difficult to fit and totally off the planet wheels have been used. With regards the standard class, I can read some comments on mine that are visiable from the pen being pressed hard on the scoring before me... Against wheels it says 'not clean'. Interior 'not cleaned at all', and the overall look of the car says 'Dirty brand new scirocco'. LOL.

Jim says you can try out his MAF at Elsecar ... -
And my nephew. He's been VERY busy filling tankers down in Cardiff and is well on his way to achieving target for his bonus :)
-
Don't know what's just been agreed or if this is right but update from my nephew... "I love it. Fuel strikes ruled out. I have to have a laugh at all those that were queuing for ages to get fuel." And BBC news says "An Easter strike by fuel tanker drivers has been ruled out by the Unite union. It is to join conciliation talks but said a strike could be called for after Easter if those broke down." so it could still happen but later.

I have a nephew works for Chevron. He tells me... "Some people don't know how good they have it! I love how the government are saying that armed forces personal are trained to drive hgv's, they may well be, but they are not trained to load on site. Not sure if there would be much sympathy for the drivers if people were aware that they are on a salary between 30 and 45k. Somedays they only work 5 hours or so as well! General mood is that it will go ahead though." No info on when though.

Great work and it looks 100% better already. Not much info held by the CCGB. Owner, in the merseyside area, originally joined the club in 2000 and membership lapsed in 2008.

But I don't think being IN a Corrado is too much of a risk even with it's age of design. But I certainly wouldn't want to be a pedestrian hit by one. And although it is really no excuse but the low height of a C could be seen as a reason why so many get rear ended... the driver behind is looking over the car! Personally the car being so 'short' always gives me a second or two of panic in a car park when I can't see it. Then I remember it will be hiding amongst taller cars and start looking for the right shape bumper :)

Well, well, well. Last update April 2011 and here we are in 2012! Yes I took it to Elsecar but Kip decided to take KIPVW at the last minute and beat me. He'll not be there this year so I'll have another go ;) I'm not sure there was much 'work' to update the thread on re last year and likewise I've no real 'work' planned for this but I did get the car out of the garage again today and reseated a piece of internal trim that was bugging me all last summer having been inspired to actually get started on what few things need doing pre Stanford. (Chris RW1, note STANFORD... I'm paying attention :) )

As all the posts above. Lovely day out, good to meet old friends and new ones and the weather was superb. I got inspired to get the Storm out again and actualy get a job done on it :0). I have a few more to go before Elsecar but have at least started!! See many of you again there (Elsecar) or at other shows throughout the summer.
-
Chris, Kip. You are both getting (!??) old. If Andy is going to Elsecar then so is Jim so he can get it there. :-)

Buffing....aye... tis a good job it is his left shoulder that is broken.

TO CLEAR - Remaining Corrado Parts in VAG UK stock.

It's the wrong thread (sorry can't find the other one) but I got my VR6 badges today. many thanks for dealing with this in what I know is a busy and sad time for you. J -
For a daily they do keep the car cleaner (good job as that's what they are supposed to do!!) but I would advise taking them off every year to clean the mud build up between flap and metal and check that all is OK. I had them on my original Storm, dealer fitted etc etc but they were not removed until the car was 10+ years old and a little damage was under way.
-
Only 5?? but you have 3 Corrados. I would buy 2.
-
Yes, and two holding the rear VW badge on. You take that lot off regularly for a proper clean and polish of the rear bumper and you soon need some more. For the sake of another £2 / £3 would you really only buy what you need right now?? Maybe it's just me (and Kip.. and a few others I could name?) but when we buy trim clips we buy in bulk!

Walesy, that wasn't a pay out, that was what I paid for my current 8v 2 years ago. To give you some proof of value.
