  1. Hi. I appear to have a loose driveshaft vibration damper (on my 8v) and from looking at other threads / forums the opinion seems to be to just cut it off and be done with it. Is it a 'girl with a hacksaw' type job or should I rope my husband into to the task? Or pay the local garage??? It certainly entertained a few people at Tamworth services on Saturday as I was crawling under the car with a camera. :)
  2. I opened the garage and remembered I own another Corrado :) Tatton tomorrow, Harewood next Sunday. See you all there. Apologies in advance for forgetting your name
  3. standard VR6 Solitudes, refurbished, used 1 show season (3 shows!) I have too many Solitudes. This set of 4 were my show wheels for 2013. They have done no more than 500 miles since being refurbished by The Wheel Specialist (Garforth Leeds). I'm only looking to recoup the refurbishment cost so 200 for 4... or if business is slow I would think about selling in pairs for 100. Individual photos, front & back, available if required. Preferably collection or local delivery (cash on collection/delivery)... but happy to package for courier arranged by and cost to buyer (and payment in advance) List Date: 8/29/2014 Location: South Yorkshire, United Kingdom For more info, click here to view the original listing: standard VR6 Solitudes, refurbished, used 1 show season (3 shows!) -------------------------------------- SOLD -------------------------------------- Mobile friendly version: standard VR6 Solitudes, refurbished, used 1 show season (3 shows!) 4. It was a great weekend though sorry I was a 'little' tired and not very talkative. Thanks to everyone who came for a curry or stayed over and brought beer/wine & chocolate :) I was pleasantly surprised to get a top 10 placing (change of competition .. gone the 10 top, no particular category, route) and congratulations to Goldie for his trophy too. I was so tired on Monday evening after putting the Storm away I left my 8v unlocked on the drive. Woke to find the drivers door semi open, seats somewhat wet, glove box contents in the foot well and ashtray pulled open. On locking the car I found that the boot had also been opened and left just resting shut, not closed. Thankfully no-one wants an old CD/stereo so that wasn't ripped out and pink fluffy dice or snow shovels are not desirable either!
  5. Got mine today. Wonderful stuff many thanks. And 're what do I think about the texture etc... It's as expected as I saw a brand new one snapped up off eBay a few years back so know what they were like brand new.... And it wasn't me that snapped it up off eBay but someone 'close' to me :-D
  6. Does that postage cost cover the packaging required? I hope you are not selling yourself short. £35 internet banked just now, to include postage. I'm too impatient to wait :-) If you need more for a box and bubble wrap let me know Many many thanks Jude
  7. In for a penny in for a Euro. New horn cap for me too please. Many thanks
  8. I was thinking the same Jim. Also happy to hold on for a while. Certainly until we either get a response from him or ask a friend to help make contact ( by phone to see if Pete is on holiday, sacked, other issues??)
  9. I would like one of these if there are enough due to some people now dropping out. Pm sent and cash ready.
  10. A buyer did ask about an item for sale and the photo being used and got a weird reply Q - Is the wiper stork off this car as I know it wins many concours shows and if so the condition of the wiper stork will be excellent. If it's not off this car please can I have a picture of it added to the ad. A - no the wiper stork is a new one i brought for my car but sold it, i purchased it from vw and no this is not my car DO NOT PUBLISH THIS PHOTO THE GUY WHO OWNS THIS CAR HAS GONE OFF ON ONE SO PLEASE DO NOT OK THANKS If I had really wanted to buy it I would have wanted a pic of exactly what it was I was bidding on and even after asking I didn't get one.
  11. Arranging meets further north - it's not easy arranging things in places you do not know. The club used to have regional hosts but guess what? No one wanted to fill the posts. As a club 'we' have said over and over that support and funds can be made available if someone wants to arrange a meet. I'm not aware of any requests made. What's that quote? Ask not what the club can do for you but what you can do for the club? There's plenty been trying hard for the last few years and in need of stepping down and new blood/ideas stepping up.
  12. wow, 1 week ago.. where has the time gone (and that counts for 2013 as a whole).. Any news :)
  13. helloooo.... pic sent. See I am still around :)
  14. This is in no way a technical answer but both 8Vs I've had and I'm sure both of Kips have all ran with a 'cool' water temp. My current 8V has had new stat, water pump and header tank to try and solve a flashing water warning light. It still flashes and I'm 100% sure it is the warning sensor at fault and there is nothing wrong with the cooling system. Its MPG is as expected for an 8V and the pipe work gets hot as expected. I'm sure I've heard others with 8Vs saying they run cooler... Are you really sure you want to start tinkering with it if everything runs fine?
  15. Top guy. Totally trustworthy. Been around a while (in a nice way :) ) Ah, you are in Italy? Well, can't hurt to ask him.
  16. Couple of more bits to mull over from me... My original storm had some nasty wheel arch rust issues on all 4 arches. A paint shop in Bristol treated and painted just the arches, blending the paint in halfway up the panel. I really am no paint expert but others who, are said it was an amazing job... Don't think you HAVE to paint the whole panel. My present daily driver 8v had some scabby patches giving the car a 'rat look' that I didn't like. I had bonnet, front bumper, wings, doors (scrappers only masked as it is a daily and I didn't want to risk having the old scrapers bent on removal/refit but handles removed), mirrors, rear quarters (but only blended to the 'crease') and rear panel painted. And rear bumper given a good polish. £1200. And the car looked so good I felt I had to spend another £200 on wheel refub. It's a daily though I don't have to drive it to work every day. I try not to worry about car parks and stone chips but accept that over time it will pick up some knocks & chips.... Speak to bodyshops. Find out what they can do & are happy to do (some might not want to put their name to a 'patch up job'). Decide how much you want the car to look respectable at a sensible price vs look stunning at the worry it will give you!!
  17. I heard quite a few discussions about this yesterday. I almost couldn't believe what I was hearing when some people tried to defend why they hogged the middle lane... yes they were admitting it!!! 1 - The inside lane is poor condition so it's safer in the middle lane 2 - If a had a tyre blow out I am safer as I have more space around me 3 - It leaves room for people joining the motorway to come on...(they didn't seem to realise that is what a slip road is for!! and heaven knows why 10 miles+ would be needed between junctions..LOL) and 4 - The 'outside' lane is for overtaking... meaning the far right lane only... And it's by no means only younger/newer drivers. In fact I believe there is an element of older drivers who are no longer able to cope with the traffic nowadays that sit there as it's easier for them than dealing with proper lane control. And re the new 'law'.. that is only as good as its enforcement. As earlier, I would much rather undertaking was allowed as I bet those that can't cope with traffic passing on both side would flippin well stick to the inside lane.
  18. It does look stunning indeed. But I was surprised by the tape head as the Storm came with CD!!
  19. I've been to it a few times all be it 25+ years ago!! Amazing atmosphere, especially if you like bikes of any sort as they are all there. One of the years there was a rumour spreading that a brand new, the model had only just released, GPZ900R (and that's showing how long ago it was) written off on PDI... I could confirm the rumour as it was my uncle who had written it off. LOL Saw plenty of crashed bikes parked up outside hotels and that was even before mad Sunday. The whole fortnight is nuts. :) ......... Is there loads of enforcement if the road is only one way then? ........... There is no way on earth you would even think about going over the mountain section the 'opposite' way when the one way is in place. The amount of traffic.. using every inch of the available '2 lane' road would make you not even want to be walking on it!.. though I may be remembering mad Sunday in particular.
  20. I'm attempting to get my head into Stanford gear... We plan to be on the road for 6am so would be around Trowell at 6.45 / 6.50 so I guess a quick stop makes sense. I'll be ready for breakfast by then too ;) I'll check with Kip and it will probably be a good idea to check / swap mobile numbers just in case.
  21. Tip for cleaning the underneath for the first time... find a hot or steam jet wash to get the thick off. Removing 75% that way makes the remaining 25% almost a joy. I learnt the hard way by spending days under my first car covered in dripping cleaning fluids. Second time round I went to a hot jet wash then borrowed a twin post lift ;) Looking lovely Chris. The first drive caught out in rain is heart breaking though.
  22. Just realised i didnt post my time. 4 hours 20.26 My training plan was 16 weeks, runs on 5 days a week with gym one off day and swimming the other. Sunday long runs started at 12 miles then built by 2 miles each week to a max training run of 22 ( though i did 23 that day). Weekly mileage started at 25 and peaked at 50. Mid week runs were either 'easy' recovery runs or targeted training of hills, speed reps, 1 mile reps or @ marathon pace. I would suggest getting a few half marathons in first to get an idea of what you can do those in to know what pace to train for the full 26.2 And if you are not in a running club give a few a go. You will get great advice and support and training partners as believe me, 3 - 4 hours out by yourself is mentally hard work... Let alone the running ---------- Post added at 10:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:51 PM ---------- Oi.. lol. I thought i kept it quite short But if you want any more info swiftkid just let me know :)
  23. An update if anyone is interested! I had a great weekend / day and I ran exactly the race I had planned. 10 min miles up to mile 20 then see what I had left and push in the last 6 but no matter what, hopefully to be enjoying it all. I stayed around the 10 mins (give or take) then did mile 21 in 9.41 mile 22 in 9.44 mile 23 in 9.33 mile 24 in 9.04 mile 25 in 9.00 mile 26 in 8.36 final .2 in a pace of 8.33 I think I might have been able to do more than 10 min miles earlier but I might not have been enjoying it as much by the end ;) And I can still move though the transition from sitting to standing or standing to sitting is a little difficult at the mo. Paul had a successful day managing to see me 3 times along the route too.
