  1. Did you get it sorted mate?
  2. Any other advice welcome!?!
  3. Ill try spinning it round more times but if it still ends up that mm out of parallel on the cam tool ,would this cause my fuelling problem? If it wouldn't can I build her back up and assume its something else like the head or injectors? should I go by a dowel in the plug hole and feel for tdc and not use the intermediate and crank mark. Line up the cams and fit the chain then give it a try?
  4. Right 4 turns ,Ill try that !
  5. MarkGolf, I now how you feel mate having the same problem! What were the cams lining up like before you took them out? Going to spend a whole day trying to get mine right at the weekend ! Good luck!
  6. I think there leaning to the bulk head ,but Ill have to double check. Will burn out exhaust valves cause over fuelling? I dont have to force the tool in but it may be thinner than a vw one? I have been using the crank shaft and have now taken the gearbox off to be really sure as it is driving me nuts! I havent done a comp test which I should have done before hand silly me! Can I do a comp test by hand? Im going to put the original cams back in to see how they line up ,and if the same thing occurs it can only be a head or injector problem surely?
  7. I think Ill try that when I re do my cam timing again on Saturday kev! I'm having the same thing with my 264 cams. The bottom timing marks are spot on but the cams are about a mm out of parallel with the cam tool. Would this cause an over fuelling problem which I was having before I stripped it again to re do the timing?
  8. Are they aftermarket performance cams?
  9. Right Ive had the Gearbox out and the lower timing marks are spot on ,so it couldn't of slipped a tooth! Could this be because the cams are about a mm out on the aligning tool? This is really starting to wind me right up and my car is now in a 1000 pieces on my Dads drive in till I get to the bottom of the over fuelling! May be it could be injectors? Could it be the way the cams have been machined? Should have done it before hand but can I compression test the engine just my turning the bottom pulley ,probably not. I think I might have to stick the old cams back in and see how they time up. Vince was the one that advised me to check the timing, and I have so what could it be? Could the cams being a smidgen out of line on the cam alignment tool make it fuel like that? I got the cams from Dougherty Race Cams of ebay and they are said to be new not regrinds. Has anyone fitted these cams and had problems with them? Really desperate for help guys!
  10. Just had a quickbrowes and found this. http://www.camcoat.u-net.com/Exhausts.htm
  11. So can you get them ceramic coated !?
  12. Cant you get the manifolds ceramic coated or something?
  13. Can someone please tell me the diameter sizes of a 2.8 and the 2.9 TBs please?
  14. I think its a timing problem ,the chain has slipped on the intermediate sprocket whilst fitting the cams so Im having the gearbox off this weekend to sort it out! Im also fitting a Fidanza flywheel :)
  15. Has anyone proof of performance gains ,as Im also thinking of purchasing one? Ive also heard that wrapping them can cause them to crack?
  16. I think Im still going to go for the Fidanza from America ,saving around £100! Luckily enough my chains and clutch was replaced 30k ago when it had a new block and pistons! Im only taking the box off to do the chains again as I think the chain jumped a tooth on the intermediate sprocket! Can you buy a crank locking tool for the VR6 ,or know of a universal Joby?
  17. The Fidanza wheels are $398 from ebay delivered ,or if you get one from here the cheapest Ive seen is around about £365 delivered! Remember your customs charges to go on top from the U S of A !
  18. Well I think Im probably going to go for one anyway ,thanks for putting me straight. It was a mod I was cosidering a little down the line ,but seeing as though the flys coming off Ill have to dig a bit deeper it to my pockets! :)
  19. Ok its just Ive heard stories of you losing low end grunt/torque? Have to rev the engine more on pull away? Revs drop alot quicker on gear change? These comments might of been from a 4 cylinder car may be? Did either of you two come across any of this? Im just doing a bit of research before I part with my cash!
  20. Right Ive got to strip my car to redo the chains next Saturday ,so that means gearbox and flywheel off. I was thinkig about buying a Fidanza light weight flywheel and was wondering if anyone on here has one and can tell me any pros and cons?
  21. Solitaire, Have you sorted your problems out yet mate?

    ISV Valve

Trying to sort out an overfuelling issue on my corrado ,and was wondering if a dodgy ISV valve would make it run rich as well as lumpy idle ,kangarooing etc?
  23. Right Ive know put a second hand ecu on and it seems to be exactly the same as before ,so Im rather p**sed off now after spending another £70! Can a faulty ISV give the same problems? Heres what VAGCOM brought up : RPM 680 - 720 TEMP 89.6 LAMBDA .900 - 1.000 FLUCTUATING TIMING 3 - 6 FLUCTUATING INJ TME 3.80 - 4.00 FLUCTUATING EN LOAD 4.O% THRT ANG 12.5 INT TMP 61.6 Ive inspected for air leaks and I dont think thats the problem. There are no fault codes present.I have now put back in the original FPR and flowed TB. Please stay with me on this one ,I need all the help I can get! Should the timing be moving up and down the way it is? If the intermediate sprocket has jumped a tooth when refitting cams ,coud this of upset the timing there for its fuelling wrong? Could it just be it needs remapping too set it up to the mods? Vince at Stealth racing did say it should run alright because the cam pro wasnt that wild. Can someone please tell me why I cant carry out basic settings ,is it just because the values arent correct to carry out the procedure?
  24. Ive got a second hand ECU coming tomorrow and hopefully it should cure it?
  25. Im not sure I was going to take it out to have a look at the part no because I could probably pick one up for £55 +vat which is pretty good to know! I should have given it a compression test when I had the chance ,as my dad brought a gauge home from work ,but decided not to as the engine was rebuilt 30k ago so I didnt bother. I can check the injectors on vag com cant I? triggermyson, Id love to do obd2 conversion but not just yet ,Got holidays and stuff to save for! BORING lol :)
