  1. Did you have to spend some time logging the sensor outputs in order to know what to adjust with the crazyfilter, or do you just have a couple of set conditions, such as throttle closing and boost having been present in the inlet means that a set of generic signals get passed rather than the actual MAF reading? Is there a slight delay introduced by this box, or is it not noticable? I'm rather intrigued now.....
  2. I've changed to a Nugget one now, but cant reset my vote, I'm still down as Blue from my very first one :( I'd like to add my vote for my white weapon I also own.
  3. I think Judiths success in various concours competitions should speak volumes for the car. Would be a cracking buy for an enthusiast wanting a very good original condition car. Good luck with the sale...
  4. Dave. Reading that makes me moist. Really like what you are doing there. Would have never even thought about having something like that to sort the signals. Would OBD2 be better, with your crazyfilter ™ or is OBD1 quite sufficient? I'm not a vr owner of any legnth of time, but I've been pretty happy with the way the OBD1 system runs the car.
  5. You could have come round and extricated my screwdriver bit! Ooooooo eeeeeeeerrrrrr  Actually, at some point can I plug my vag com in your car to get a bit of a log from the sensors, to compare to mine please?
  6. Bloody hell! This wheel arch cleaning seems to be catching... I think I know where you got the habit from though ;) I've just spent an hour looking for a screwdriver bit in my engine bay. Finally turned up in a chassis rail. Have taken the air filter out and shaken any filth out, cleaned all the inlet pipework, cleaned out the throttle body, glued my flametrap back together, fitted a blue temp sender, played with the logging capabilities of vagcom, fitted a centre sunvisor( 8) ) and left dirty handprints all over the shop. Couldn't be bothered to take the rocker cover off to look at the tensioner.
  7. They look stunning... Nice purchase! Has Mrs 665 noticed yet?
  8. Cheers Stan. I've just had a fiddle around with the software and logged a load of sensor information, which was nice, think it's just a case of pressing the button and seeing what comes up.
  9. I think it means that the sensor is playing up.
  10. Cool. Like that one Dave. Wonder how much carbon canisters are going to be worth in the future, now half the corrado owners have junked them?
  11. Right. I've been fiddling around with vag-com and i'd like to see what the sensors are reading from the laptop, mostly because I am a geek, and nosy. I understand that I go into the Measuring blocks section, but how do I know which group does what? Does anyone have a list? Cheers Tom
  12. Tell them you need the bolts that hold the caliper carrier to the hub. It's 2x18mm(I think) for each front caliper, and 2x allen key headed bolts for each rear caliper. The boots fit over the slider pins which the caliper moves on and keep moisture and dirt out of them. Without these, or if these are damaged, the pins can seize and your brakes will work particularly inefficiently.. These aren't cheap though but very worthwhile. They come with new caliper to slider pin bolts, and a pack of lube.
  13. Looks alright mate.... Might need to take another engine to ed38 with me... Will it be ok in your boot? ;) Looking at the pictures and knowing you thought about selling makes me question your sanity... I'd rather have a car like this than nearly any of the others on the forum, except knowing me I'd make it dirty and sad, and haul animals around, so it's probably best I don't have a car like this.
  14. AFAIK, as a VR owner of a couple of months... The chains and tensioners are a slight lottery. If the car has been loved, then they are likely to last longer. Some cars might do 200k on the originals, others will not see 100k. Mine rattle lots at 137k, with fvwsh to 2 years ago, I'm not in a huge rush to change it, I'll inspect them for serious flaws, but otherwise they'll have to keep going for a while. I don't get that wet over service history, someone like me could have owned the car and changed the oil and filters every 3-4k miles and not recorded it. Someone who went to vw for servicing, could have ragged the tits off the car everytime they drove it from cold, and actually done damage to the engine. I'd be happy with the general condition of the car, as long as the oil is clean and there's no obvious problems. After 150k miles the engine has had a reasonable life. It might do another 150k, it might do 150, bit of a gamble really. /Sits on fence
  15. Don't think they do, go to VW. While you're at it, get some carrier bolts.
  16. Oh yeah, I should have said carrier bolts. Supercharged normally forgets these things.
  17. And new bolts for the carriers! Just as well put new boots on the slider pins while you're at it.
  18. Cheers. Pop down any time for parts. I'll be around all of this weekend, then at ed38...
  19. I only noticed it as I was under one one day looking to work out why the bumper was misshapen. How're you Dave?? Was only thinking of you today.
  20. Only got ABS in the VR, will have to find someone to try it on
  21. I've now got VAG COM and the 16pin OBD2 connector in Winchester. I can't connect to my ABS unit though, I get an error saying "Too many communication errors to continue". It did connect once, but the connection failed before I could get codes out of it. There is a lot of associated clicking from the instrument panel area of the dash during this.
  22. I agree too an extent... Better visibility when parking too.
  23. Don't selll her!Well, not until I've got the cash for your shrick and cams ;) Lol... It's a stunning car mate, and you've put a lot of work in, I suppose part of the problem is that you haven't got a huge ammount more to do at the moment, apart from the charger, so maybe you're looking for something to do for a while. I couldn't sell my cars to be honest. Despite the offer of going to New Zealand if I did. Try living without her for a while, see how you feel... Mind you mk1's are awesome little cars.
  24. I should have said this before, but you wouldn't need new calipers, unless they were corroded, you'd get seal kits for all 4 calipers for around £60, add £20 for master cylinder seals. Pads(shouldn't really need them) £80. goodridge hoses are £50 and cheaper than new rubber hoses from vw or gsf. If I had £500 I would have tried to buy your car, fixed it and banged it on for £1200. Fair enough if you can't be without a car, but it would be a weekends work IMO. Nevermind. I'm sure plenty of people will be happy with new parts to keep their cars on the road.
