  1. Wasn't the 'ownership' of the Alsace-Lorraine region the cause of WWII? If they'd seen what would eventually get produced there, I bet neither of them would want it!!!! It's on a par with that god awfull carrera GT corrado thing. :pukeleft: :pukeright:
  2. I lied to you mate  I was sure i'd seen a guide there. Sorry!
  3. Think there's an article about it in the Wiki
  4. A magnetic sump plug is a pretty good idea anyway isn't it?
  5. In other words, it lubricates it a bit too well I hadn't thought about the rings bedding in before, I thought it was going to be something to do with too many particles being picked up and transported around the engine in the oil. Don't the rings bed in the first hour or so of driving?
  6. Just out of interest Jedi, I seem to have some cow saliva on my car, think it's where it was left in my mates yard when the cattle came through for milking, anyhow, it's been in the sun and gone rock hard over a couple of weeks, and I cannot work out how to get it off, any suggestions? (if you don't mind sharing a few trade secrets)
  7. Just out of interest, why is that?
  8. good! I worried that you'd just scratched the face of your nice shiney new head!! It'll be brilliant knowing that you've nothing much to worry about on the engine side for a couple of years won't it? are you going to put anything else new in, recon gearbox etc?
  9. You didn't sit the head face down on the brickwork did you????????
  10. Regarding the Fuel pump situation, if my understanding of them IS correct, the 16v set up supplied fuel to the metering head, inside the metering head is a springloaded valve that opens when the fuel pressure reaches 3bar, sending excess fuel back to the tank, the 3bar supply is then fed to the injectors, with the fuel flow being controlled by the flap in the metering head. I would assume that the G60 injection system would have a regulator to maintain 3bar at the injectors, so the pump shouldn't make a difference, unless it's not supplying enough pressure (whcih it doesn't sound like it's doing, clearly) It's probably worth checking any how, the presssure reg might have gone tit's up during the converison.

On second thoughts, I prefer their answers  . I hadn't considered things entirely at first such as having so many pins, or the permanant live (for the sidelights I assume) I just thought headlamp switch>simple>switched feed from ignition, sidelights, and headlamps. Nevermind, you live and learn. Might be worth trying a continuity tester, if Mr Renshaw et al are correct, you should find a connection between the permanant live and the switched live. These should be marked on the back of the switch, judging by the picture from the other post, if not, it's electricians pants and detectives hat on time!

Cool, I just wanted to check that it couldn't be a terminal mix up thats causing the running.

I'm assuming it has a mutli plug at the back which the connectors shove into?
  14. Bugger I got beaten to it, and I only got 6

Only slightly broken, but it could get more brokener if there is some electrical wire chafing or something. Try borrowing a relay off another pasty munching corrado owner, that would be a really simple and easy test, if it isn't that, then get your electricians pants on, and your multimeter out!!

It's upset with you because you didn't let it attack jamie oliver, when it had the chance! :D Is it just connected via a multi plug rather than individual connectors on the back, nothing could be plugged in wrongly? I would guess that, there is a feed, possibly from a faulty relay, going to the switch, when it is turned on there is a +12v supply going from the light switch to the ignition which is keeping the fuel pump and ecu etc going, but i wouldn't have thought the fuse for the lights would take that sort of current.... Sorry I'm a bit rambley, I'm trying to think my way through the problem while I type. It might be worth checking the connection to the switch and that nothing is earthing, or any wires haven't chafed through, and trying a new light relay. It could be corrosion in the fuse box too.
  18. Do I win anything? Like a free VR6?
  19. Those big square doors ring a bell from somewhere, a hideous mk 2?
  20. I know the place, I know stockbridge/kings sombourne/broughton way fairly well.
  21. Hello mate, welcome along, are you a newcastlite who is studing in Southampton, or the other way round. There's a couple of us corrado owners around the Southampton area, and if you want you could have a bit of a poke round my 1.8 16v if you want. I think like any car, you're either lucky with reliability and running costs or you aren't. Especially now they're reaching 15 years old ish, things do go wrong infrequently. Your best bet is getting up to speed with fixing stuff and mechanics.
  22. I assume its the same as the 16v sump, it's just a ring of bolts (10 or 8mm I think) there are 2 just sort of behind the flywheel that are really awkward to get to, but it's not too bad to do. Oh and yes you can do it with the engine in situ. just jack the front end up.
