  1. I do like PPC, but, there's just not enough in there, and it's not in depth enough. I do buy it, but don't panic if I miss an issue. I do like the variety of vehicles in there, and the fact that they are open minded to different things. It's good to think outside this VW bubble.... I still like EVO a lot, and have a subscription, some of the photography is almost worth the price of the magazine IMO, and although I can read it all in a couple of hours, I'll often go back through the magazines and look at stuff over and over. I'll probably never own the cars they generally feature, but the ideas, and thought of owning them is enough. I liked this year's Grand Challenge. Whilst I wouldn't buy a soft top, the idea of spending £1000 and blatting across the country with some mates really appeals to me. :)
  2. If that wishbone bush is knackered, then it can allow the wheel to move like that. Are the bolts still tight and in place on the front and rear bushes?
  3. Cheers! Actually quite keen on it, after months of apathy. :) whoot. I can see how that had the desired effect with you Tom  :camp: :norty: :) Cheers. It seems to have all come together really quickly, the photos are flattering the bodywork, need to sort out a load of marks on it still. What's your timescale for finishing yours? Might be able to pop over with it and give you a hand. Updatewise... I got my wheels back, shotblasted and primered. There are a few spots of filler required on one wheel, and the odd bit of media stuck to the primer, and occasional marks that need rubbing down but for £10/wheel, I can't complain. Have painted one matt black, and I'm quite moist over it... :) Will get some pics soon :)
  4. What has encoraged me is just going for a blast in mine, or going out with other people... Dave, Corozin, Mic_VR and Dukest's cars all spurred me on after rides in them recently.
  5. Cheers Guys... Hopefully be running this weekend. Looks like I won't have it MOTed till September now. Nevermind. Also I was wrong about the halfords paint... It is right, it's the car that's the wrong colour. Pics from last night's bath...
  6. Bottom of the water pump in a plastic elbow. A lot of this sort of question will have been answered, did you try using the search?
  7. Arb bushes need the subframe dropping down... Not a 5 second job.... Otherwise that does sound pretty steep. You can do it all yourself, but there are items that can trip you up. Ball joints can be seized (best use 2 hammers either side of the knuckle, and the wishbone bolts can be bloody tight... I've had a nice bend accross a breaker bar before they've moved in the past. The different racks are easily spotted visually, but I can't remember the semantics. I may have got a track rod and ball joint for sale at the moment. Brand spanking new, looking for £40 plus postage I think.
  8. Looking at the pics, the layer of waxoyl seems to give the appearance of dirt, or rust in a few places... it's not really like that... Honest... Also the arch in the last picture is one I have filled and painted. Far from happy with it, but I think it looks passable...
  9. Here's some pictures from today. Not managed a great deal, just finished off a few bits, fitted the splash shield to the rear disk, rear carrier bolts, fitted a few electrical connections, refitted more interior trim, emptied crap out of the car, bled the clutch, sat in it, and pretended I was driving, etc...
  10. Cheers! It is bloody good having the space and equipment to hand. :) :) Thanks Hasan! How's the conversion going? Been out loading and stacking big hay bales with it this afternoon. Nice to get back into the swing of things again.
  11. With an £800 price tag for a new one, plus potential catostrophic damage to the engine if parts are sucked through, it really is important to look after the G-Lader rather than rely on a mate of a mate of a uncle's cousin's wife's sister's dog who's probably never seen a G60 before....
  12. Awesome. Hopefully my copy will be waiting for me to collect tomorrow morning. :)
  13. Personally, New wishbones, rear axle bushes, ARB bushes and drop links, bottom ball joints, steering rack bushes, track rods (with track rod ends). And that's about it.... Don't use Polybushes, they're a pain in the arse. The VAG stuff has lasted you 105k/14 years, so it should do the same again...
  14. Awesome. :) Cheers dude. :) Need to take some pics of her as she sits now really. :) Had a night off tonight. Planning on getting to bed early.... Fail....
  15. It is getting a lot closer. Absolutely shattered from keeping at it every night at the moment, but making tangiable progress is HAMAZING. :) Need to sort the drivers door out, fit the door card and make a membrane up for it, and fit the plethora of parts that I'll pick up Saturday. Should be able to get all the cooling system connected up and a few bits of wiring sorted, then it's a case of waiting for the injectors to come back and finishing the wheels and getting tyres fitted to them. Would like to have an MOT booked for Thursday/Friday next week so I can get some miles on it before I go to Cambridge on the bank holiday weekend. It'll be tight, but I reckon it's doable....
  16. Get some links the the cars you've seen.... The Green Supercharged VR might be an old forum members, I think it was up for sale a while back. If it is, it's lovely.
  17. No pics at the moment. Mic has got several from the weekend though. Tonight I was going to have the night off.... But.... Thermostat housing on, coilpack on, new alternator on, new battery on, passenger side door card on.... Then turned it over without plugs in for a while The filter had been changed and the oil pump swapped, so there was a lot of air to pump out. Looks as if fresh oil is reaching the tappets now, and the timing chain tensioner took all the slack up. Fitted a new rocker cover gasket and wound it down tight. Need to put more oil in before I start it. Also started painting the slam panel. Located someone to bead blast my wheels, and ordered hopefully nearly the last of the parts I need. 2 things concern me now. 1 is the fuel, which is pretty manky after 18 months. Pumped 5l out when cranking it over and it smelt somewhat off. Hopefully it'll be good enough to squeeze through the MOT. Secondly is that the main beam illumination light was on all the time the battery was connected. Hopefully it's just where a lot of things need plugging in/earthing, but it does seem weird...
  18. More done over the last 2 nights. Rear suspension turrets painted, and waxoyl sprayed into them before rear shocks and springs fitted, engine bay wiring has been added too, and more ancilliarys, nuts, bolts and brackets attached. Inlet manifold wire wheeled, and sprayed with WD40, slam panel cleaned and rust treated. More parts ordered... Handbrake cable clips, rear carrier bolts, oil pressure sensors, battery, alternator, splash shield, insurance quote obtained. Need to order sump bolt (x1) and pipe from oil cooler to crack pipe tomorrow. Been coming home from work then getting on with the car until 9.30 or so every night. Absolutely shattered now. Rear suspension bolts at the bottom have been bloody hard work where they needed tightening with the car on the ground, and a socket/ratchet wouldn't fit in the gap. By the looks of things the suspension is going to sit a bit lower than the valver. Hopefully not too much lower..... Sleepytime
  19. Try Dave or Graham at DG Autotech. They're in the vicinity, look in the suppliers section for contact details.
  20. Toad

    removing pedal box

You've got to pull the master cylinder/servo forward into the engine bay so that the studs don't poke into the cabin, and the end of the piston is clear of the hole in the pedal box.
  21. Nice to see you making good progress Jenevieve... :)
  22. I'll take them off you, for a pound.... How much were they? If you want rid, I might be interested....
  23. Drilled disks often crack, especially the cheaper ones. I'd avoid them...
